I love having this to clean up dog fur quickly. Our dog loves to leave fur on our couch so this is perfect for quickly cleaning of the couch without having to lug out the big upright and finding the right attachment. I also love using for any litter scatter our cat has left near her box. It is also great for the car. I live in an apartment and don't have good access to a shop vac for cleaning the car out, so this is pretty handy for that as well. A couple things to note. 1) The battery life is such that this vacuum is really only useful for pretty small jobs. I tend to use it on the max suction so the battery life is not terribly long. I haven't timed it, but I'd be surprised if I got 10-15 minutes of straight vacuuming using the max setting. This isn't usually a problem because I use it for quick spot cleaning most of the time, but if I'm trying to do a more full on car cleaning, I can definitely expect it to give out before I've fully completed the job. I think you can buy a car charging accessory separately so that may be useful, but I have not used that. You should not buy this if you intend to use it for vacuuming a whole room or apartment. 2) Because this is a small handheld vacuum, you'll probably use it for some hard to reach places. I've noticed that if you hold the vacuum any way except horizontally, the contents that have been sucked up rattle and fly around the container. I'm not sure if this is actually a problem for the machine, but it is a little annoying to hear little rocks and things flying around inside the dust receptacle. Other than that, this is a really great machine for small cleanups and cleaning in places without an outlet. It does a great job collecting fur with the spinning brush attachment and is great for hard to reach places. It is not a must-have vacuum, but it is great for added convenience and helps you keep things cleaner more easily more often.

Three litter boxes, two fluffy cats, and 1500 square feet kept me frequently pulling out my upright Dyson to keep the place clean. I bought a small, handheld vacuum that was highly reviewed on amazon so i didn’t have to pull out the big gun every time but was immediately disappointed. I held my breath and splurged on this one and I only wish I had done it sooner. Yes, battery life is short (40 mins-ish) but that hasn’t been a problem. I just plug it in when I’m not using it. Easy to clean, and picks up hair, dirt, kitty litter, everything, like no other. You do have to hold the trigger to keep the machine running which I haven’t had a problem with. It doesn’t need a lot of pressure. However, I could see how someone with severe arthritis could find this challenging, so hopefully dyson has (or will soon make) a model can be used by everyone. I bought my first Dyson 6 years ago and have not been disappointed. I enjoy cleaning when I’m using a Dyson, which I realize sounds creepy and cultish but is completely true. Worth the money.

I originally bought this ($169.99, 02/2020) because I wanted a convenient vacuum as I had a dog living in my 1 bedroom apartment and didn’t want to get the corded vacuum out every time I saw some hair on the ground. Two years later, it has been one of my favorite purchases. This, with an aftermarket hose/extension, makes this incredibly convenient for my purpose. It’s not a floor vacuum, by any means, so don’t purchase it for that purpose. Instead, it’s convenient for hair, cleaning corners/edges, and other small items. The suction is good enough for its purpose, but it’s definitely no shopvac when trying to use it on my car - though it is ~somewhat~ useful for that purpose. Having it mounted to the wall in a convenient location like the kitchen is ideal, and takes 5 seconds to grab it, clean up that stray wad of hair, and put it back. The wall mount is somewhat flimsy due the fact that it only uses two screws mounted down the centerline, allowing the edges and corners some play. I reinforced the back by cutting some custom shaped wood pieces and gluing them to the back with plastic glue and CA glue. Overall, 10/10 would recommend (at least for the price I got it for off of Amazon)

The product works great. If you have a small clean up (less than 12-15 minutes with max suction power) I highly recommend this product. If you have 15 min+ clean up, this product will not work that well. The weaker strength mode will provide a little longer battery life, but it doesn't have the suction power that you would expect. The battery pack also gets considerably warm. This product could definitely be better if it had a detachable battery that you could buy multiple of, for bigger jobs. I am satisfied with this product as it works great in the kitchen after cooking or guests.

This works great. It gets into area's that I can't reach with a normal vacuum cleaner. It is cord free. I even use it on my car carpets. It does a good job sucking up dirt and what not. Very durable, easy to clean.

I really really regret this purchase. This unit contains a pull up lever that allows the bottom to open for easy emptying. Except, bizarrely, the pull up lever also unseats the clear canister from the machine. So 80% of the time when you try to empty it, you unseat the canister from the machine which requires a wrestling match to get it reseated so it can function or be emptied. Sometimes, as an added bonus, the bottom flies open when you’re doing this wrestling match and you are covered in everything you just vacuumed up. The parts that make these things work are all hard plastic so every time I have to deal with this, I’m terrified one will snap and the whole thing is caput. Finally, I thought, this has to be defective, Dyson has such a great rep as an innovative, brilliant company. This just must be defective. So I called Dyson. First I had to go through their entire registration process and give tons of information before they would talk to me. So now I’ll get Dyson junk mail, spam calls and spam email for life to remind me what a poor choice I made. The pleasant, easy to understand customer service rep said, “oh, I’ll go get that floor model and walk you through it.” Then he says, “Oh. Hmm. I have the same problem. I pull the lever and the bottom doesn’t open but the container unseats. Maybe use a screwdriver to get it open?” I said, “Oh, that sould be a highly desirable feature to a $200 dust buster IF I could get the container reseated to do so but I can’t.” He issues me a return authorization to ship the unit back for repair/reseat of the container. The return process was super easy, just dropped off the unit at the ups store with the number and they box, ship and everything, no cost to me. Two days later, I get the unit back exactly as I sent it but with the same container, cleaned out and a hand scrawled note on the RMA paperwork “Emptied dust container”. This was the repair. So the machine doesn’t work anymore because I can’t reseat the container into it so it vacumns. Of course I contacted Dyson and was beside myself. I said I wanted them to take it back and refund my money. They told me it wasn’t possible because I didn’t buy it at Dyson.com. I said “Amazon isn’t an approved retailer?”. They assured me that Amazon indeed was an approved retailer but they would only consider a dissatisfaction return for items purchased on their own website. So whatever hype that is out there about Dyson must be around the company’s former glory and not the current situation. Generally speaking, I’m incredibly offended by highly engineered and over-designed products that then work stupidly. This is one. An epic example of one. Then to top it off, this is an OEM that doesnt support their customers OR their distributors. Since the rationalization for overpaying for a dust collector would be innovative design, company reputation, durability and ease of use, friend, keep on searching because this ain’t it.

I so love this handheld, it is the strongest handheld I have ever had, I bought it after the actor Jeremy Rennert said in the Wall Street Journal that he uses it for everything and it's the best decision ever. I use it to vacuum my cars, stairs, cat hair, dog hair, people hair, even floors for a quick dirt pickup. The battery seems to last forever and I never even have to use the "Max" feature for extra strong suction because the regular suction is so strong. I am going to buy another one soon to keep upstairs because I just use it all the time. I don't even touch my huge vacuums anymore (I have a PureClean Roomba-like cleaner for large surfaces), between these two perfect gadgets my house has never been cleaner (not easy, it's a very busy house). Some people get hung up on the fact that it doesn't come with wall brackets but I really don't care, I don't need it hanging anywhere, I need it close to me, lol.

It take a bit to get used to the short battery life when its on the max suction setting but it does pack some serious power!!! It has 2 settings for suction power. One is more of a eco-mode, which is great when it comes to hard surfaces, furniture and car interiors like floor mats and fabric seats. The max setting is legit! It is great for all types of berber carpet when used with the carpet attachment and deep crevasses in furniture and car when used with wand attachment. From what I've noticed, battery life for each setting is about 18-20 min on eco mode and probably about 9-11 min on max. Regardless of what Dyson says, this will not replace an upright, primarily, because of the battery life. We typically use ours on our 4 flights of carpeted stairs, furniture and inside our cars.
