I bought this as a replacement for a much much much older model that was like 7 years old and finally died. I have had it for about a month now. This model is AMAZING! I’ve seen some people complain about the system for emptying the canister, but I have no problem with it. Like any other electronic device, you just get used to how things work and it becomes automatic. It has excellent battery life, great suction power, and I think it’s neat and easy to empty.     • Good for small jobs and great for fur and litter scatter
I love having this to clean up dog fur quickly. Our dog loves to leave fur on our couch so this is perfect for quickly cleaning of the couch without having to lug out the big upright and finding the right attachment. I also love using for any litter scatter our cat has left near her box. It is also great for the car. I live in an apartment and don't have good access to a shop vac for cleaning the car out, so this is pretty handy for that as well. A couple things to note. 1) The battery life is such that this vacuum is really only useful for pretty small jobs. I tend to use it on the max suction so the battery life is not terribly long. I haven't timed it, but I'd be surprised if I got 10-15 minutes of straight vacuuming using the max setting. This isn't usually a problem because I use it for quick spot cleaning most of the time, but if I'm trying to do a more full on car cleaning, I can definitely expect it to give out before I've fully completed the job. I think you can buy a car charging accessory separately so that may be useful, but I have not used that. You should not buy this if you intend to use it for vacuuming a whole room or apartment. 2) Because this is a small handheld vacuum, you'll probably use it for some hard to reach places. I've noticed that if you hold the vacuum any way except horizontally, the contents that have been sucked up rattle and fly around the container. I'm not sure if this is actually a problem for the machine, but it is a little annoying to hear little rocks and things flying around inside the dust receptacle. Other than that, this is a really great machine for small cleanups and cleaning in places without an outlet. It does a great job collecting fur with the spinning brush attachment and is great for hard to reach places. It is not a must-have vacuum, but it is great for added convenience and helps you keep things cleaner more easily more often. ... show more

    • Initially cringed at the price... totally worth it
Three litter boxes, two fluffy cats, and 1500 square feet kept me frequently pulling out my upright Dyson to keep the place clean. I bought a small, handheld vacuum that was highly reviewed on amazon so i didn’t have to pull out the big gun every time but was immediately disappointed. I held my breath and splurged on this one and I only wish I had done it sooner. Yes, battery life is short (40 mins-ish) but that hasn’t been a problem. I just plug it in when I’m not using it. Easy to clean, and picks up hair, dirt, kitty litter, everything, like no other. You do have to hold the trigger to keep the machine running which I haven’t had a problem with. It doesn’t need a lot of pressure. However, I could see how someone with severe arthritis could find this challenging, so hopefully dyson has (or will soon make) a model can be used by everyone. I bought my first Dyson 6 years ago and have not been disappointed. I enjoy cleaning when I’m using a Dyson, which I realize sounds creepy and cultish but is completely true.     • Great Product, Horrible Battery Life
The product works great. If you have a small clean up (less than 12-15 minutes with max suction power) I highly recommend this product. If you have 15 min+ clean up, this product will not work that well. The weaker strength mode will provide a little longer battery life, but it doesn't have the suction power that you would expect. The battery pack also gets considerably warm. This product could definitely be better if it had a detachable battery that you could buy multiple of, for bigger jobs. I am satisfied with this product as it works great in the kitchen after cooking or guests. ... show more

Machine ran beautifully for about 1 month, or more accurately, about 3 sessions. Then got the dreaded blinking red light, which indicates the battery has died. Registered online with address and serial number, but when I called support, they claimed they couldn't find the info. They nonetheless dispatched a new battery. A week later, the wrong battery arrived. Got online again to see if I can register my warranty, the website just takes my serial # and bounces me back to a screen with no information. Looks like another call to tech support will be necessary. But at this point, the experience is "done." This is supposedly a premium product at a premium price, but 1) the parts used are clearly not premium, as they wouldn't have died with such short use, and 2) the warranty experience is anything but premium. Nice looking website for sure, but not much beyond that. Even if I do get this machine running, I'm not likely to trust it. And the important part--the actual cleaning of rugs I was depending this for cannot be done. I now associate this machine with a dirty apartment, which I think is the opposite of what it's designers intended. I will likely be looking for a cheaper, more reliable vacuum and will craigslist this one assuming I ever get the right battery. Very, very disappointing experience. ... show more
