    • Perfect for anyone with back problems and/or chronic illness!
Style: V16 Piston Animal Submarine
After I got the correct item (at first Amazon sent me a fake grass carpet I didn’t order 😁), I LOVE it. I have stage 4 breast cancer with a collapsed spine. I can now vacuum and wash my floor whenever I want instead of relying on someone or paying a cleaner. I’ve used it several times on wood, wood laminate, white tile, and area rugs and it works great. I like the laser light to see the dirt. I can vacuum and then wash our first floor and still have battery left. My wool carpets shed a lot and it has no issues with that. The washing head is brilliant. It took a few times to get the angle right to put it together but I think I get it now. I don’t feel it at all in my back and can change what arm I use when one gets tired. ... show more

    • The battery performance of Dyson V16 Animal is significantly worse than expected
Style: V16 Piston Animal Submarine
I live in a small three-story townhouse. The second and third floors are entirely hardwood flooring. The first floor consists mostly of a one-car indoor garage, with only a very small carpeted area. I have been using a Dyson V11 Animal for more than five years. Although the suction power is no longer as strong as when it was new, the battery life is still excellent. When using Auto mode, I can clean my entire three-story home within approximately 40 minutes on a single full charge. Recently, I purchased the newly released Dyson V16 Animal from Amazon. However, I have been extremely disappointed with its battery performance. When using the medium suction setting, the battery does not even last long enough for me to clean my entire home. With one full charge, I can only clean one hardwood floor and about half of the second floor before the battery is completely depleted. This is extremely disappointing and inconvenient, especially because the V16 is a brand-new vacuum and is advertised as having improved or longer battery performance. What makes this even more concerning is that my more-than-five-year-old Dyson V11 Animal can still clean my entire three-story townhouse on a single charge, while the brand-new V16 Animal cannot. Under my normal cleaning conditions, I do not believe this battery performance is normal for a new V16 Animal. I suspect that the unit I received may have a defective battery or another malfunction affecting its battery life. ... show more

    • This should be perfection, except for dumb decisions from Dyson
Style: V16 Piston Animal Submarine
So, first things first - I love this vacuum! it's easy to use, the feedback is awesome, and I pulled out two hoppers of dirt from a carpet that has been just vacuumed. Wow. Easy to move. And yeah, Dyson-overpriced compared to other similar vacuums, but as usual with Dyson, you get way you pay for. Dyson is almost always better than the others, until the others have time to copy what Dyson did and make it cheaper. See the long history of Dyson products. I've got to say that this would be five stars, except for dumb things. So, let me explain the dumb things. First, the wall dock that comes with this is fine. Feels cheap, but it works. However, it does NOT come with the screws and mounting anchors required (and shown in the setup instructions). I called in and was told, "It doesn't come with that, but you can purchase them from any local hardware." Well obviously I can, but this vacuum is over a thousand dollars, and you decided not to include 15 cents of hardware and didn't mention it anywhere? Bad customer experience! So I then asked, "How can I provide feedback about this decision not to include the screws and anchors that are shown in the instruction picture." And, no joke, I was told, "You would call in, but I don't have enough information to file that feedback for you. This product is too new and it doesn't show up on the support web sites." Color me dumbfounded. Second, the V16 Piston Animal Submarine comes with a wonderful multi-surface floor attachment, the handheld and truly powerful animal tool, the submarine wet attachment for washing the floors, and a fourth head called "Fluffy Optic". This Fluffy Optic is not mentioned anywhere in the instructions, on the website, or anywhere that I can find. When I asked the service agent about it, he said, "Oh yeah, that's the Fluffy Optic attachment". Another 'well duh' moment. So, I said, "Okay, so, since that's not mentioned anywhere, what it is?" And I was given the amazing answer of "That is an attachment for seeing Fluffy things on the floor." I thought he was making a joke. He was not. So a new follow up question, "What surfaces do I use it on?" was answered with "That's for hard floors." Well, this is a step in the right direction maybe. "And why would I use that instead of the multi-surface attachment?" to wit I got, "It depends on what you are using it for." I gave up. So, Be aware that there is a Fluffy Optic attachment that will get tangled with hair and dirt just like old traditional vacuum beater bars, but this one is better but there is no documentation or guidance at all why it is better, or even included. Final thing is expected - Runtime on battery. So, 70 minutes is a pipe dream. I am going to guess that it is 70 minutes when on low power, not using the dirt sensors. I got about 20-30 minutes. BUT, in their defense, that's a long time to vacuum in a single session with a wand (and wireless) vacuum and that was the first time, which I'm going to think needs more power than "low" to get everything. That first session was switching from med to high a lot as it dug out dirt that was very deep. And the full hoppers are clear evidence of it working, see the beginning of this review. Did I mention you need to buy your own screws and wall anchors? Yep, I'm salty about that. Those things aside, this vacuum is amazing, and yes, I do recommend it. So long as you are okay with being a bit salty about it. *smiles* ... show more
