  • Great cordless vac!
Replaced 8 year old Dyson D35. Cost the same as the 8 year old! Technology has come a long way in 8 years & the new vac really shows it. Great suction & unstoppable beater bar. Canister is a little small & the extension tube needs to be removed to empty, but the release mechanism has improved in 8 years also. It's still a great upgrade from our old one & Momma doesn't have to pull out the big vac. I hate vacs. They suck! They're supposed to, but overall they just plain suck!! And that pretty much can be attributed to the cord. It's always in the way & the thing tips over or gets stuck or... So the lack of a cord, makes it suck less, but still suck more! HA! Worth not having to deal with a cord! Bought a new beater bar for the old D35 & took apart the beater bar belt drive to remove hair wrapped around the inner spindle (YouTube video) & it now is the upstairs vac. Needs a new battery & it'll be as good as new. Still not the suction of the new V10, though. But then again, I'm just a FOG & what do I know? ... show more

  • Perfect !
Fantastic! I have two grankids here everyday and lots of little messes as well as a dog - our plug-in Dyson has been wonderful, but i put off dragging it out and plugging it in and getting the right attachment. This V10 is perfect !!!!! easily swivels to go right under the couch, fits up nicely to the baseboards for close clean. The battery lasted longer than some reviews give, but I don't use the Max setting. Swept our stairs and the bottom floor of our house - emptied the canister three times - so i know it was picking up. Plenty of power left. The wall storage installed easily and is perfect for storage. I like the auto off because it saves power. When I found I was gripping too hard and sweeping too fast, my thumb knuckle did rub a bit, but i loosened my grip, slowed down (trusted the battery), and even changed hands back and forth. We ordered the power head too, and it is so manuverable that there was no furniture or obstacle I could not clean around or under. Just perfect. ... show more

  • Great buy!
I got this for my Uncle to use at his house and it’s great! He has hardwood, tile, and carpeted floors and the vacuum transfer easily between them. All the hair and little bits (plus larger bits of trash) are picked up with no problems. It’s also very light, which make it possible for him to vacuum if he decides. I read some reviews of how people didn’t like how you have to hold down the button for it to work, but I actually like this feature. It makes it easier to only use when you need it. It’s also very easy to dump when the bin gets full. The other additions are also simple to change out should you need to dust or such. All in all, this is a great vacuum and I hope to get my own soon. ... show more

  • Lightweight and easy to maneuver
I bought this to replace my Dyson Animal corded vacuum. Although I’ve been happy with their corded vacuum, I wanted something lighter and easier to get out for quick cleans. To me it makes vacuuming less of a chore. I can do a quick vacuum of one floor in my house in about 10 minutes, and I find myself vacuuming more often because of that. I have hardwood, a few area rugs on hardwood, and carpeted floors, and it works great on all 3. We have a cat, and I find the power head does a better job of removing pet hair off the area rugs and carpet than my bigger corded Dyson. I run my unit almost always on the mid power level setting, and have no complaints of its power. And have yet to run out of battery when doing most of my 1,800 sq/ft house. I have changed my mindset about vacuuming, and use it for more often quick cleanings, which keeps the battery life manageable. What I love: The lightness; using it with one hand; no worry of cords; and the maneuverability. Great cleaning power, especially with pet hair. Rotating brush is powerful and easy to remove if you need to detangle hair from it. Negatives that I’ve learned to live with: Bin fills quickly if you have loose carpet fibers and pet hair; you have be careful not to pull the ON trigger when emptying the bin; and the bin release mechanism is sticky and not engineered as well as the rest of the machine. Bottom line is I would buy this vacuum again if I was in the market for another cordless vacuum. ... show more

  • Handy, easy to use, and very clever, but I don't think it replaces the mains vacuum
This type of vacuum brings about a fundamental change to the WAY people vacuum. In the past, my family (as well as many others) would have, say, one day of the week when the entire house gets vacuumed, top to bottom. These days are long gone with the Dyson V10. This is more of a "oh, the floor's dirty. Let me get that real quick." So then you vacuum the small mess, and that's it. For these purposes, this vacuum is fantastic and unbeatable. The battery life is insane. My house has five bedrooms, 2.5 baths. Mind you, only the bedrooms themselves have carpet, and the rest is hardwood -- since I got the motorhead with no fluffy brush, I still do the sweeping manually. I don't mind. But when I vacuum all five rooms, the battery doesn't even go down a blob (there are 3!). As a result I find myself leaving it off the charger instead of keeping it topped up (this preserves battery longevity, but it's quite complicated for an Amazon review. You can look this up if interested). I charge it maybe once every three laps around the house. The attachments are very well designed and in the Motorhead, the three are all I need. Crevice tool, big fat wide surface thing with a brush, and the carpet one. I would like to be able to have the fluffy brush too, but that would be an extra $200 or so which I didn't deem worthwhile. My only complaint is that it's very easy to misalign the attachments when reinserting them into the dock; it often takes 2 tries. The vacuum is not noisy at all. It makes a high pitched whine as opposed to a general roar as 'conventional' vacuums do, which some people find annoying. Myself, I don't mind it. I find that I clean the filter a little more than the recommended once a month, as it collects quite a lot of dust. It seems that the cyclones that Dyson has patented only work well at very high flow rates -- meaning, you kinda have to use the max setting if you want the cyclones to work properly. I found Max setting not particularly useful, it didn't get the carpets any cleaner and it made a lot of heat. Also, my mechanical sympathy gets in the way (I just feel bad for the vacuum, even though I know it's designed for it! My heart hurts!). I also clean the inside of the bin with a damp microfiber towel each time I do the filter, just for aesthetic purposes (the dust does tend to cling to the bin and I like it looking clear and shiny!) Now, onto the things I'm concerned with. My very first impression, immediately as soon as I started using it, was that it was not as powerful as a mains vacuum. I know, I know, I wasn't using Max mode. But even so, I have to gingerly vacuum around at 1 meter per second as per some international vacuuming standard that they're tested at. Any faster, and stuff starts to be missed. Whereas on my old Dirt Devil mains vacuum, I could throw that thing around literally as fast as I could and it would never leave anything behind, ever. It does take me longer to vacuum the house with the Dyson for this reason. Secondly, I vacuumed once with the Dyson, and the next day, went over it again with a Shark Navigator as I had (accidentally) walked on the carpet with my shoes on (I was in a rush!). The Shark actually picked up quite a lot of dust. I'm not totally sure, but I think if the Shark is picking stuff up that the Dyson is leaving behind, then the Dyson is not a full replacement for the mains vacuum. It serves as a day-to-day quick mess cleaner-upper, but not a be-all end-all vacuum for the entire house. I will still keep my upright for using, say, once a month for a "deeper clean" if you will. Furthermore, the Dyson, with the crevice tool, is quite long and unwieldy. I am talking specifically about vacuuming the car, like under the seats -- it's much easier to navigate tight quarters with a hose attached to an upright or a wet/dry shop vac, instead of a vacuum cleaner, bin, and attachment all in line like on the Dyson. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, but I don't think I will enthusiastically go recommending it to everyone I know. It's not a problem with this product itself, mind you; I believe this Dyson V10 is the best cordless vacuum on the market, hands down. It is really darn close to the upright vacuum, but it falls just short enough that I'm not ready to give up my upright yet. I have a problem with the cordless platform, not this product itself. I don't really like the 'range anxiety' with the battery; I'd rather be plugged in so I can vacuum for as long as my heart desires. I do like how light and nimble the thing is, and how easy it is to just go, clean, and put back -- no faffing about with cords -- but I never really found uprights to be particularly cumbersome, either. Maybe I'm just old fashioned, give me a few years and I'll warm up to it. ... show more

  • Great vacuum cleaner, money well spent!
I got this on Black Friday deal, super good. Finally gave it a try since I have heard lots of good things about Dyson. Just because of the cost, I think it is too expensive for a Vacuum cleaner. I have to say it's good investment for this one and it works much better than any vacuum cleaner I have used in the past. On hardwood floor, most dust and small objects were picked up. ==> After vacuumed, my hardwood floor was clean and I don't need to mop the floor anymore. I can vacuum more frequently, because it is so light and easy to move around. It comes with three attachments, well enough for household. I would highly recommend this. You won't regret. ... show more

  • Best Vacuum We Have Evered Owned
This vacuum cleaner is the best one we have ever had. It is lightweight, has great suction, and is always ready to go. The swivel end and low profile allow navigation of almost every corner, nook, and cranny. The battery lasts a long time between chargings. I have never had to recharge during any job. Everyone in the family uses it! We have had many vacuum cleaners over the past many decades (large, small, ones with cords, cordless, etc.), and this one far surpasses all of them. Service from Dyson was excellent. When it arrived, the box had been punctured by a forklift somewhere along the line. This bend the main tube. I called Dyson and they sent a replacement in a matter of days. Now, it is perfect! ... show more

  • Love this Machine, Wish it Worked Consistantly
Initially this vacuum was a life saver-- easy to install, easy to charge, easy to grab and go. Unfortunately it began to stop working periodically indicating a clog. I have followed every tutorial on troubleshooting, made sure to follow all upkeep instructions and never overfilled it. Regardless of that I have had to send it in for a replacement from Dyson (thankfully they're pretty good about that), but now it's stopped working again in less than three months. I really don't want to continually have to exchange my vacuum, I need it on a daily basis (animal hair everywhere) and it's super inconvenient. I'm passed the 90 day return period, so I'm going to try to get a credit and apply it towards a different model. For a $500 vacuum, you expect it not to break within the first year of owning it. Update after two years: Dyson has replaced my vacuum THREE TIMES. This may look like a positive thing, but think of it this way. THREE TIMES my vacuum has stopped working, then I have to go through the ridiculous process of talking to a million people on customer service, scheduling a time for the vacuum to be delivered (you have to sign for it), UPS screwing with me and claiming then came by (when they didn't) and all the while not having a vacuum with three cats and a dog. Terrible. If you have no animals or children, go for it. This device will work for dust bunnies and crumbs. Seems wild to me that such a well known company would sell expensive ass vacuums that can't handle kitty litter. Garbage. ... show more
