If you need a space heater, you might as well get something that looks good and is cozy! I use this one in my office, and I love that these heaters don't dry out the air like many other forced air heaters. I love the flames for ambiance, and it comfortably took me through the cold months and saved me money by not heating the whole house. Keeps my living room warm (10'x17') and cozy. When heating the room, this one has a box of some sort underneath that lights up bright red and (to me) distracts from the fireplace ambiance. `Now I am focused looking at the bright red box. To describe, you have a fireplace stove with a somewhat realistic illusion of flames inside. Periodically however, right underneath it turns BRIGHT red when the heater runs. My 10 year old one (exact model) had some sort of shielding over the bottom (I think the air vents opened downward or upward?) so the heater box while working was not visible, nor distracting. Small detail to some. The ad says it has realistic flames so.....why not the rest? Does the job, its safe, the remote is convenient for on off but does not control heat output. ... show more

I was looking forward to getting this product to help me keep my drafty house warm. What a disappointment! When the package arrived, the product was so tightly wedged into the box that I had to practly perform surgery to get it out. Then I tried to put the legs on the heater which must be screwed on. The problem was that the screw holes on the heater did not line up with the legs. I kinda got three of them on there, but the fourth one was so misaligned that I could not attach it. Shame on you Duraflame! Who is manufacturing your products? When I purchase something, I don't want to have to have a fight with the packaging, and then spend 20 minutes trying to assemble something that is poorly made. Now I have to box up this monster and return it. I wish I could give my review 0 stars because a 1 star rating is too high. ... show more
