  • Have reservations about model DFI-550-22
Color: Black
Some Duraflame heaters have more metal parts and look better, some have more plastic and look worse, I knew that going in and made sure to order one that users said was metal. I didn't know the fire/flame features also varied a lot from one model to another, I found that out by comparing this new heater with my old one, which I love. Upon unpacking, I was pleased with the appearance of this one, I think it's pretty cute and doesn't look too plastic-ey. Found the legs in the packaging in the bottom and easily attached them to the bottom of the heater. Plugged it in and turned it on, the flames did not "dance", just stationary. Tried a couple times, no dice. Thought about packing it back up and attempting to return, but that seemed like it would be a huge hassle, and I don't like hassles. So I laid it on it's face on a soft blanket on the couch and removed the many screws on the back of the heater. Found that the rotor that goes around and makes the flames was flopping loose. Found that one end of the metal bar is intended to be just loose, floating, while the other end is intended to be shoved into a small hole in a small rubber cylinder which is meant to grip the metal bar. I did my best to shove the metal bar into the hole in the rubber cylinder, but I found it a little iffy, which is undoubtedly why it wasn't properly in there in the first place, leading to it being non-functional. I've had to open up my old Duraflame heater to replace the bulb when it burned out, and the mechanism in this one just seems not as good. I would not be surprised if, after a while, that bar comes loose from the rubber cylinder again, but I guess I'll just take it apart again if that happens, and maybe use some rubber cement or shoe goo on it if it seems necessary. Still, a lot of hassle to get a new item working, right? So, once the unit was re-assembled and plugged in again, the heater works, blower works, remote control works, and flame finally works. Unfortunately, the flame effect on this heater is not nearly as pretty as in my old one. The fake logs in the old one are a lot, and I mean a LOT more detailed and realistic than in this new one. They are more textured, more realistic colored, and some of the logs stick up in a cute way, whereas the "logs" in this one are pretty flat and lacking in any kind of detail. The old one has a fake brick panel behind the logs which I used to think was kind of tacky, but which I now see optimizes the look of the flame effect. This new heater has a plain black plastic panel which does not enhance the flame effect as much. So if I had a chance to see both in operation together, I would choose my old one every time. But notwithstanding, now that it's working, I'm okay with it, it's a useful and pretty cute heater, and it's all working now. Just wouldn't order this particular model if I had it to do over again. ... show more

  • Works great- why pay more?
Color: Black
There are all price ranges on these fireplace style space heaters, but on the end if it does what it is supposed to do, why pay more? I've only operated it one day when it was cold and rainy, but it did the job in our small cabin.

  • Not like the old ones
Color: Black
Didn’t like that the legs were plastic and not molded on like previous heaters.

  • Perfect electric woodstove ♡
Color: Black
I purchased my first duraflame electric woodstove for my bedroom because it’s on the north side of the house and our central heating couldn’t quite get the job done. I liked this heater because it had a remote control and I could turn it on/off from my bed, control the brightness of the flames, etc. Having the first heater for a while, I realized that my 16 year old cat loved laying directly in front of it. So this past fall I bought a second one for the living room, just for him. The one upstairs is really only on for the hour I’m getting ready in the morning, where the living room one is now on for hours in the evening and on weekends. He lays in front of it until he overheats and moves to the couch. Thank you Duraflame for making an old cat, and his owner, VERY happy. ... show more

  • Excellent Product - That takes a little too much Juice for Some Rooms
Color: Black
My wife has already purchased one of these a few years ago. We really like it. The heater does a good job of warming up a space. The only issue is that it trips my breakers at times if I have too many other items plugged in. It is what it is though. Win-win.

  • Couldn't be better!
Color: Black
I bought this for a very senior friend ( she's 98!) and I knew this was just the thing. It makes her feel warm, cozy, and the look of it reminds her of that homey atmosphere she loves. Super simple to set up and use. It makes everyone who comes over feel like "they're home."

  • Great heater, bad remote
Color: Black
The heater works great, as do the flames and logs. However the flame level and heat element buttons on the remote stopped working in less than a week. Remote is very poor quality.

  • Love it
Color: Black
Bought for my enclosed patio it fits right in with the decor, it's remote or manual controlled, and can be used with or without the heat function, I do wish it was taller though. I have the duraflame electric log in my fireplace and a electric fireplace tv stand in a other room as you can see I'm a duraflame fan 🙂 ... show more
