I bought this product five years ago in November of 2019. I came back to leave a review now in October 2024 when I saw it was still on Amazon. I have enjoyed this product so much. It heats nicely, however, I didn't really buy it for heat, but have used it to supplement on some really cold days over the years. I would not recommend this product as a MAIN heat source as this or any other stove of this class, in my opinion, is not built in such a way to be anything other than a decorative and an occasional, supplemental, and attended heat source. I have had a real cast iron stove (vermont castings with the fire glass window) a wee bit bigger than this, and I missed just seeing the flame after I moved. The flame is nicely realistic. This runs LEDs for realistic flames display. I put it away in the summer in a closet and cover it to keep the dust off and remove the battery from the remote and place the remote inside on the logs when stored. I pull it out in October, put a battery into the remote and turn it on ( the LED fire lights) and it still is like new. I run lights mostly all fall and winter, until spring warmth during the waking hours. My dog actually likes to lay in front of it. All that is to say, I have never regretted this purchase. It warms the “feel and look” of any room it is placed in. It has been a great product these five years. I am of the opinion you get what you pay for with these stoves. (Also, an important feature I wanted was the vent to be on the TOP not the bottom, which five years ago when I bought my stove this was only one of maybe 2 or 3 models that offered the top vent in any brand). This product has the top vent, and it is vented on the ends as well. When the heat runs, the stove body does not get hot, but the air blowing from the vent is , so if you have toddlers, you would want to ensure the front vent heat blowing out doesn't blow into their eyes….I have used a screen when necessary with visitors with small children. Be sure to plug into the wall socket direct, not through a power/surge protector strip. The stove I have does not have a grounded plug so I do occasionally touch the cord at the back to check the cord heat if I run the heater portion for a while, which could be a little and barely warm, but not hot. BEFORE I bought this Duraflame stove product, I had purchased a much cheaper one. The vent was on the bottom of this cheaper stove, and when I did run the heat, which was not often, it delaminated a soft-lay laminate floor in front of the vent which was on the bottom front. When I noticed it, I didn't have my remote handy and just unplugged it, the cord and plug was very hot, so I cut the cord off even at the back of the stove and disposed of the unit. No more cheap stoves for me as this was an alarming experience, as well as a developing hazard and no matter the brand, I will always monitor the cord and the product for safety due to my own personal experience. All in all, This Duraflame stove, again has been a very, very nice product, and I have not had any problems with my unit and I am happy to give it a great review. Edit 2025: I came back to say 6 years and still going, and Im starting a new season. I run my lights most days all winter and after 6 years, my stove and its lights still run and looks like new!!! ... show more

We recently renovated our dining room and had long dreamed of adding an electric fireplace. After careful research, we chose the Duraflame electric fireplace — the hardest part was selecting the color. We wavered between red and blue; the blue won, and it was the perfect choice. The flames look remarkably real, and the heat produced is absolutely genuine. It warms our chilly mountain mornings with ease. Though compact, the clear sides create an illusion of spaciousness and elevate the overall ambiance. My husband procrastinated on assembling it, but it turned out to be incredibly simple. As for noise — it’s a non-factor. The fan quietly circulates warmth into the room, but it’s barely noticeable. It heats up so quickly that by the time coffee is brewed, we’re already enjoying the cozy glow in our beautiful room, anchored by a truly beautiful fireplace. I’m beyond pleased with this choice. I got my off white Duraflame electric fireplace in November 2023. I have been using it daily since then and love looking over at its cheerful "fire." The stove puts out good heat, and accurately reaches whatever temperature I have set it at. (I have checked this by looking at my wall thermostat.) It can be set as low as 62 and as high as 84. I have also frequently used it without the heater on - just for the ambiance, the cozy look of a fire in my corner "fireplace." I especially love the ambiance of this stove / fireplace, how attractive it is. I know that in warmer weather, I will also enjoy looking at it, and will use its surface as a display area. It weighs only 35 lbs. and I could easily move it to other parts of my home if I wanted to. I appreciate that the top of it only gets warm, not hot. Only one hiccup (which doesn't matter to me) - my remote only serves to turn the stove off and on and adjust the faux flame height; it does not adjust the temperature or the timer. To change the temperature, which I rarely do, I need to open the door of the fireplace and manually push the "temperature button." It's easy, and not a big deal for me as I am a flexible person who has no problem kneeling down. And, frankly, that's kind of what I feel like doing daily - bowing to this little gem of an electric fireplace that keeps me warm and provides such a cheerful presence in my home. Don't be surprised that the legs are heavy plastic. They work just fine. The rest of the stove, as described, is glass and metal. It comes very well packaged. Screwing in the legs was a breeze. Have AAA batteries on hand for the remote. If you want a wonderfully cozy look and a very good little heater at a good price; and if you can deal with a remote that functions mainly as an on / off button, you may be as pleased as I am with this little electric fireplace! Word has gotten around my condo building and now 7 of us own it in different colors. (The red and blue are lovely, rich shades.) We are all 7 pleased with it! ... show more

Looks nice, does keep the office space warm enough to be inhabited by humans. Easy to assemble, good size, flame effect is quite nice. Our office space was converted by the previous owners from a porch. Terrible insulation. This has made it useable for working from home. Finally. The sound is completely acceptable. My only quibble is the remote. It is... not so good. It does perform the task of turning the unit on and off, but to adjust your heat or light settings you must access the panel behind the door.
