I got my off white Duraflame electric fireplace in November 2023. I have been using it daily since then and love looking over at its cheerful "fire." The stove puts out good heat, and accurately reaches whatever temperature I have set it at. (I have checked this by looking at my wall thermostat.) It can be set as low as 62 and as high as 84. I have also frequently used it without the heater on - just for the ambiance, the cozy look of a fire in my corner "fireplace." I especially love the ambiance of this stove / fireplace, how attractive it is. I know that in warmer weather, I will also enjoy looking at it, and will use its surface as a display area. It weighs only 35 lbs. and I could easily move it to other parts of my home if I wanted to. I appreciate that the top of it only gets warm, not hot. Only one hiccup (which doesn't matter to me) - my remote only serves to turn the stove off and on and adjust the faux flame height; it does not adjust the temperature or the timer. To change the temperature, which I rarely do, I need to open the door of the fireplace and manually push the "temperature button." It's easy, and not a big deal for me as I am a flexible person who has no problem kneeling down. And, frankly, that's kind of what I feel like doing daily - bowing to this little gem of an electric fireplace that keeps me warm and provides such a cheerful presence in my home. Don't be surprised that the legs are heavy plastic. They work just fine. The rest of the stove, as described, is glass and metal. It comes very well packaged. Screwing in the legs was a breeze. Have AAA batteries on hand for the remote. If you want a wonderfully cozy look and a very good little heater at a good price; and if you can deal with a remote that functions mainly as an on / off button, you may be as pleased as I am with this little electric fireplace! Word has gotten around my condo building and now 7 of us own it in different colors. (The red and blue are lovely, rich shades.) We are all 7 pleased with it! ... show more

I saved and researched and fretted over buying this. I am so glad I chose this one. I love it. It’s beautiful, easy to use, and the flames are so realistic. I really like having the controller to turn it on. It’s the tiny focal point of my tiny apt living room. The ambiance is great. The heating is just okay. I wish it was more adjustable, but you just have on or off and maintain to a set temperature. That being said, it does put out some heat. ... show more

I am totally in love with this fireplace heater! I bought it two weeks ago but it was out of stock so only arrived five days ago. Even though it's been cold I was willing to wait because I just loved the look of this one and I'm so glad I did. Between the metal construction, the beveled glass and the 3D flame effect the quality of this heater is very high, especially for the price. The unit is sturdy but not so heavy that you couldn't move it to another room if you wanted (though I wouldn't want to be constantly moving it from room to room either, this should probably have one specific spot but you could change it up occasionally). The legs are plastic which helps keep the weight down. But since the majority of the body is metal it really gives that legitimate old fashioned stove fireplace feel which I love. A plastic body wouldn't have had the same effect. The beveled glass on the operable door and the glass on the sides also both add to that realistic feel. I think the beveling, because it's between you and the flame effect, heightens the realism because it distorts the light somewhat. And of course it's a higher end kind of detail that makes this heater look and feel more expensive than it was. The side glass offers a great glimpse of the flame effects from any angle and keeps it from looking like a big "fire box" and more like a focal point for a room. As for the actual flame effects, they're certainly the best I've seen in a fireplace heater of this type. The flames in the back leap high on the brick patterned background - another great touch - while the ones in the front seem to lick at the logs, just the way a real fire would. One of my neighbors on first seeing it thought it was a real fire and yelled at me for having something so dangerous inside. Obviously if you look at it for a minute you'll realize it isn't actually burning, but it still makes my living room feel very cozy. I've used the flame effects every night while reading and relaxing whether I wanted to have the heater running or not. The heater itself is also very good, if you know what to expect. I live in Southern California and purchased this as my sole form of heat, which really isn't what it's for. It's meant to supplement your central heat or furnace, and it's really not great at raising the temperature from a very low point. If your room is already cold, it will eventually heat it to a warm temperature but it will take forever. But again, that really isn't what this product is for. In my experience, by turning the heater on before I really NEED it, it easily maintains warmth even as it gets cold outside. I definitely wouldn't try to use this as your only form of heat anywhere with actual weather. But I think it would be an admirable supplement in any part of the country, and for areas like mine where cold is relative it's perfect. I've used it in my 250 sq ft living room and it's helped maintain a temperature of 71 degrees F when it was 58 degrees outside (yes, that is cold to me). I also love that the heat is infrared. We don't usually have high humidity here in SoCal, so other kinds of heat really suck the moisture out of the air and wreak havoc on my skin and hair. Infrared heat works differently and doesn't affect the humidity at all, keeping me much more comfortable. If you live in a place where it's cold but humid at the same time (does such a place exist?) you might prefer a different kind of heat that will actually lessen the humidity. Other great features include the thermostat, which you can set from 68 to 82 degrees F in increments of two. Based on the weather station I have in my living room, it's pretty accurate about turning on and off at the temperature you set it to. If you set the thermostat and turn it on just as it's starting to get dark, the heater will keep you toasty all night :) There's also a timer you can set which works both with the heater on and if you're just using the fire effects. Basically, this heater is awesome, and an awesome deal. Based on my extensive research, similarly equipped heaters tend to run around $250 if not more, and the flame effects aren't nearly as nice. So stop thinking about it and just buy it already! I love it so much I bought a second for my dad, to keep him warm and remind him of his cabin :) He loves it and says it adds life to his apartment.
