  • I bought this 7 years ago…
Color: Black
I bought this product in November of 2019. (Note: It is now February 2026 and I still stand by my review) I have enjoyed this product so much. It heats nicely, however, I didn't really buy it for heat, but have used it to supplement on some really cold days over the years. I would not recommend this product as a MAIN heat source as this or any other stove of this class, in my opinion, is not built in such a way to be anything other than a decorative and an occasional, supplemental, and attended heat source. I have had a real cast iron stove (vermont castings with the fire glass window) a wee bit bigger than this, and I missed just seeing the flame after I moved. The flame is nicely realistic. This runs LEDs for realistic flames display. I put it away in the summer in a closet and cover it to keep the dust off and remove the battery from the remote and place the remote inside on the logs when stored. I pull it out in October, put a battery into the remote and turn it on ( the LED fire lights) and it still is like new. I run lights mostly all fall and winter, until spring warmth during the waking hours. My dog actually likes to lay in front of it. All that is to say, I have never regretted this purchase. It warms the “feel and look” of any room it is placed in. It has been a great product these five years. I am of the opinion you get what you pay for with these stoves. (Also, an important feature I wanted was the vent to be on the TOP not the bottom, which five years ago when I bought my stove this was only one of maybe 2 or 3 models that offered the top vent in any brand). This product has the top vent, and it is vented on the ends as well. When the heat runs, the stove body does not get hot, but the air blowing from the vent is , so if you have toddlers, you would want to ensure the front vent heat blowing out doesn't blow into their eyes….I have used a screen when necessary with visitors with small children. Be sure to plug into the wall socket direct, not through a power/surge protector strip. The stove I have does not have a grounded plug so I do occasionally touch the cord at the back to check the cord heat if I run the heater portion for a while, which could be a little and barely warm, but not hot. BEFORE I bought this Duraflame stove product, I had purchased a much cheaper one. The vent was on the bottom of this cheaper stove, and when I did run the heat, which was not often, it delaminated a soft-lay laminate floor in front of the vent which was on the bottom front. When I noticed it, I didn't have my remote handy and just unplugged it, the cord and plug was very hot, so I cut the cord off even at the back of the stove and disposed of the unit. No more cheap stoves for me as this was an alarming experience, as well as a developing hazard and no matter the brand, I will always monitor the cord and the product for safety due to my own personal experience. All in all, This Duraflame stove, again has been a very, very nice product, and I have not had any problems with my unit and I am happy to give it a great review. Edit 2026: I came back to say 7 years and still going, and Im starting a new season. I run my lights most days all winter and after 7 years, my stove and its lights still run and looks great! ... show more

  • Phenomenal heater to invest in!
Color: Cinnamon
I have four of these now. I bought one in November 2019, one in December 2019, one in September 2021, and my fourth in January 2026. The first three I bought were black, and the new one I just got is cinnamon color. The one thing they all have in common? — They all still work, and heat very very well, as good as the day I bought them. The thermostat is very finicky with fluctuations. 74 may be way too hot, or leave the room cold. So I do have to adjust the thermostat frequently. The remote has a setting to switch the heating off (temp then reads 00), and then back on with another push. So you can run it a little high and just turn it to inactive if you get too hot. But I don’t even care. Because they heat exceedingly well even after over 6 years with the oldest. Other heaters we have owned from other brands in the past have all burned out and quit heating after a while, and they’ve had to be junked. Not these. I have slowly invested in the ones I have to heat the various areas of my house, and they are what I consider an investment. They are also very safe and operate well, so long as you plug them into their own dedicated outlet. Do not use an extension cord or plug them into any sort of splitter or otherwise unit that plugs into the outlet itself. Plug it directly into an outlet of its own and make sure nothing else shares the same breaker, to be safe. From what I read, they pull 1500W when heating. They’re costly at around $260 currently plus tax, but as I said, it’s an investment. They heat a fairly large area very comfortably and quickly. I kind of wish I’d invested in some colored options sooner, because the new cinnamon one I got is gorgeous! Love the richness of the color. Spend the money; you won’t regret it! It works well, the flame effect is very pretty, and they have no unpleasant smells or odors, unlike other heaters that can smell like plastic burning. BONUS: My cat loves sleeping on top of it. She has done so for years and has never been harmed by it. It’s warm on top but not unbearably so. So if your pets love it, do not be alarmed! ... show more

  • Great function and aesthetics, some noise
Color: Black
The fireplace is attractive and sturdy. The flame effect is very realistic and it puts out a good amount of heat with very little blower noise. It provides great supplemental heat, even in an open layout for our 1000 square foot first floor. When set at 76 degrees F it kept the temperature of our open layout living room very cozy all day with 5 degree outdoor temperatures. I love the ambiance it adds to my boring, traditional living room. The remote is acceptable once you've settled on settings that you prefer and only want to use the on/off feature. However, when settings need to be adjusted on the fireplace itself, it's challenging. The controls are hidden behind the door and blacked out. This is aesthetically pleasing, but makes it difficult to adjust, particularly in low light situations. The most significant downside for me is the whirring, mechanical hum that comes from the fireplace when the flickering flames are on. It seems to be related to a device rotating within the unit. It's very noticeable in a quiet setting, such as sitting down to read a book near the fire. If there's music or television on, it's not a problem. ... show more

  • So many good things to say!
Color: Cream
Couldn't recommend this enough! We run off of propane heat, and in the months of November through April we were paying $400 every six weeks to heat our house. Needless to say, we needed a solution - so we turned to electric heaters. Since it was going to be sitting out in our living room, I wanted it to be attractive looking and this one does NOT disappoint. I was honestly shocked at how well made it is, and the fine attention to detail. It is the cutest thing! It came fully assembled aside from needing to put the legs on which was really easy. It puts out a really nice amount of heat and is relatively quiet which was a huge necessity for us. You can also turn the heat off but still have the lights going. I would feel comfortable having this around small children - the top gets warm, but not hot. The sides don't change temperature at all. The only really hot spot is the vent at the top where the heat comes out. But it's not so hot that you'll burn and blister with one small touch. The remote is SO handy! The reason I gave that 4 stars, however, is after a couple weeks it got picky about where it needed to be pointing before it would turn the unit on/off. It usually takes a few tries. You also can't adjust the temperature on the remote - you can only turn the heat on or off. You have to use the manual part on the unit to adjust the temperature. Overall, this was totally worth the splurge and we are so, SO happy with it. We pair this with a small boost from our furnace in the morning, and then the rest of the day is sustained by this fireplace heater and another small space heater and our house consistently stays at 70-71. It's more efficient than solely using our furnace, which is crazy to me. We are still waiting for our first propane bill of the season, and our electricity bill has only increased $40. ... show more

  • Amazing!! So real looking my grandma thought it was real
Color: Bronze
4th edit: march of 2026 and it’s still going strong!! This thing has lasted SO long and helps heat the living room when it’s super cold outside. We have the flame only on during the summer just for the ambiance. I cannot recommend this thing enough!!! And obviously it lasts FOREVER.!!! 3rd EDIT: October of 2023 and I just received my second fireplace. Not because the first one failed, it’s actually still working peRfectly fine like the first day I got it. But my sister has had t now so, now that I moved I want a fireplace again. Out of all the fake fireplaces I’ve seen, this is actually the mod Real looking. Some are so cheap and cheesy looking. This one goes above and beyond and I love that’s its infrared heat and not a wet heat. It won’t dry your skin out. Still my best purchase on Amazon in over 10 years. 2nd EDIT: I bought this in 2017, it’s currently 2023 and it still works like the first day I bought it. This is probably the best purchase I have bought off of amazon. My sister now owns in and they leave the log setting on 24/7 and they use the heat A TON. Even on summer mornings. So let’s just say, we have put this to the test and it hasn't failed. It was my only heat I used when I owned it and I lived in a two story townhome. I used it for my downstairs heating and it did amazing. My sister lives in a house and they have a huge living room and they use this as their only heat source and once again, does an amazing job. You will not regret this purchase and, at least for me, it’s still going strong 6 years later. In fact, I just ordered myself one because I am moving and want it in my new place. If you can't have a real fireplace this is the next best thing. I love how cozy it makes my house feel. EDIT: just wanted to add my grandma came over and she thought this fireplace was real. She didn’t believe me it is an electric fireplace. That’s how real it looks. Original review:I have had this for a year now and use it as my primary heat sorce. I live in Oregon and it gets down in the 30’s and sometimes lower in the winter and it keeps my house very warm. I love it has a thermostat so it will shut the heater off (but the flame stays on) and then will come back on when it gets lower. The remote is very handy. It is so real looking my grandma actually thought it was real. Very nice and not tacky, adds so much to a house. Makes it cozy!! I would recommend this to anyone. Only thing you have to put on it when it comes is the legs. And it took me 5 mins. Don’t think about it anymore, order it!! You won’t be disappointed!! I waited a year to write this to make sure I could write a real review. 2 thumbs up!! ... show more

  • Warm, Quiet, and Beautifully Realistic
Color: Black
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – Warm, Quiet, and Beautifully Realistic Product: Duraflame Freestanding Electric Fireplace Stove (Black) Model: Heater with 3D Flame Effect for up to 1,000 Sq. Ft. This Duraflame electric fireplace has quickly become one of my favorite home purchases. The 3D flame effect looks incredibly realistic and adds a warm, cozy atmosphere to any space. I love that the flame can be used with or without heat, so it’s perfect year-round. The heat output is excellent, easily warming my large living area. The heating unit runs quietly, so it’s never distracting. One small drawback is that the temperature adjustment can only be done directly on the heater, not from the remote. The remote also responds a bit slowly, but it still gets the job done for basic on/off and flame controls. Another big plus is that the top of the stove doesn’t get hot, which makes it safe around pets and children. Assembly was super simple—only the legs needed to be attached, and it was ready in minutes. ✅ Pros: Realistic 3D flame effect Quiet operation Top stays cool to the touch Flame can be used without heat Quick, easy leg assembly ⚠️ Cons: Heat temperature must be adjusted on the unit (not from the remote) Remote response is a little slow Verdict: This Duraflame freestanding fireplace stove delivers on both looks and performance. It’s quiet, safe, and creates a beautiful, relaxing glow. A great choice for anyone who wants a stylish and reliable way to add warmth and charm to their home. ... show more

  • Duraflame electric stove.
Color: Black
I bought this electric stove to replace a Dr infrared heater that was moved to our bedroom. I decided on this Duraflame electric stove for these reasons. The Duraflame name. They are well known for their heaters. The stove looks so realistic. The beveled glass in the door, the 3D logs, the flames looks so realistic. The stove itself is well made. I got the black with a dull finish that looks like a real stove. The legs are plastic but strong. The heater is on top with this model which I prefer. I have cats and they have a habit of going underneath things so the bottom heater wouldn’t work for me. Plus it would be to close to my hardwood floors. The amount of heat It puts out is perfect. I just want to heat the one room not the whole house. I run the ceiling fan to circulate the heat which helps . You set the thermostat to your desired temperature then let it go. If you want it to run the heat constant just turn the temperature way up. The remote turns the stove on and off. The memory holds the previous settings. So far I’m well satisfied. That might change when I get the electric bill. After purchasing this fireplace stove the day after Christmas in 2019 I submitted my review above. Now that I owned this for more than three years I decided to tell everyone about my experience. Honestly this is one of the best purchase’s I ever made. Everything I said above holds true three years later. This is what I love about this electric stove. The realistic flame - it looks great in our small living room. The remote - this is very handy for turning on and off. Most other stoves don’t give you this option. We operate this stove constantly when we are in the room and the electric bill isn’t that much of a change. We recently had a hot water boiler system installed with zones and this stove running keeps the one zone 3 to 4 degrees higher than the thermostat setting. After having this for three years the only issue I had so far is recently the heater kept kicking off and a code came up F3. I googled the problem and it said the inside needed the dust blowed out. I first tried using a can of compressed air and it started working for a while then it shut off again. So I took the whole stove up to my garage and removed the top held in place by screws. With my compressor I blew all the dust accumulated on the blower assembly and the heater and replaced the top. Knock on wood for the last three days it’s been running great. If I couldn’t get it to work I probably would of bought another. The only thing the price went up 100 bucks in three years. I only wish that it came in white but black will do. ... show more
