I have one that is at least 10 years old. This one has a humidifier, a remote, and an oscillating fan. The humidifier works well, the water bottle last overnight, looks a bit flimsy and the gurgling sound from the gravity fed system can be annoying sometimes. The remote is handy and works across the room. Both versions are sturdy. On wheels, it is easy to move. Auto turn off based on time, power surges, and deliberately tipping it over all work. I have never knocked it over accidentally. The amount of heat will heat a room to temp. If the space is too confined due to too many items surrounding it, it does shut off faster. Remember to clean the metal filter on the back regularly. It is easy to remove and run under a faucet. This is my favorite room or space heater of the variety of them I have tried. It costs a little more than some but is well worth it based on my experience. ... show more

It works well and as exactly as advertised. Haven't used the humidifier and don't really plan to. Yes, that part of it doesn't really look like the greatest design and I can definitely see the reasons for people's problems and concerns. The fan works great and helps it put out a lot of heat. Oscillation function on it works great as well. Heats the place up quickly and maintains the temperature very well. More energy efficient than anything we've used in the past. My only real complaint is the remote. And that's not to say the remote itself has any problems. I just wish to God they would have included some type of power or On/Off function with it. It's not a huge deal, but it is a bit of an inconvenience alwas having to go over to it to turn it On or Off. My other very minor complaint is that to get it to actually show the ROOM temperature, not the SET temperature was a little confusing at first and most of the time it shows the same temperature even when the correct buttons are pushed. So I'm not really sure how accurate that function is. Again, this is just me being picky and absolutely not a deterrent from me recommending someone to purchase this. We've had it for a few weeks now and I'm very pleased with it so far. ... show more

Reasonably quiet, easy to move on wheeled base, keeps a medium sized room comfortable if outdoor temps are above 50F. Sides & top are cool even after 8+ hours of operation, I feel comfortably leaving it on unattended. Havent used humidifier feature yet. Blower does kick on periodically even when room temp is well above the set temperature. Would be nice if it remembered your desired settings after being turned off/unplugged/power interruption which have to be reset every time. ... show more

Works great. I heat with wood and use one of these in the bedroom for overnight on really cold nights and another in my office to use in the morning while the wood stove gets my house up to temperature. They are great. The red light stays on though, so that might be an issue for some in a dark room.

I bought this space heater because of my stingy, nasty control freak landlord (who’s locked thermostats all over the house rental that I'm paying several grand a month for and won't allow me to raise the heat in the house beyond 68°). The house temperatures are now dropping to 65 because the home is older and is drafty. The (Dr Infrared Heater 1500 watt) heater works great, and has an attachable humidifier. The space heater comes with a remote control that allows you to set different heating and humidifying modes to turn on and off the humidifier, raise the heat temperature in the room, and adjust the levels of the heating in the room to: low, medium, high and "Eco" (which comes on automatically when the heat in the room drops to a pre-set level for the heater to switch on). You're supposed to only plug the heater directly into a wall outlet and not use an extension cord. My two complaints are that the electrical power cord isn't nearly long enough if you have an electrical outlet that's further away on the other side of the room, and the heater gives of a STRONG plastic odor - which I seriously hope dissipates SOON over time. That's definitely not healthy to breathe and isn't pleasant if you're trying to get more heat in the room. Other than those two issues, the heater runs perfectly well. I've seen other reviews from customers who've complained that the space heater eventually makes a rattling noise, which I really hope doesn't happen with mine. I'll edit this review if it does. ... show more
