One of the biggest problems with a central heating system is that it heats the entire house, taking more time to heat and use more electricity. If you are living in a big house like us and want just one or two cozy rooms to stay in, a central heating system can run up your electricity bills in no time. At the same time, there are still some nooks and corners that do not feel warm enough in your bedroom or home office. Portable space heaters are perfect answers for such a scenario. They are small, compact, yet powerful enough to heat the space in no time. As only the space you are in is heated by this space heater, the electricity used is minimal. There is no need to run up electricity bills by heating the entire house for hours or through the night when only the bedroom needs to be heated. If you choose one with ECO mode, the sensor will help self-adjust the settings to produce more or less heat based on the surrounding temperature. This also reduces your electricity usage/wastage to a great extent. Here I got two 16 inches height heaters - push button heater by Lasko, and touch control heater by Dreo. These are also two types commonly sold in space heaters. Both of the two heaters do a good job in my house and heat quickly with 1500 watts of warmth. But which one is more suitable for young couples like us? CONVENIENCE: If your heater is not just for near-table use, make sure to choose one with a remote. The Dreo's comes with a remote control which is full-function and easy to use, so it is less time-consuming to heat up. No more bending down to change controls. LOOKS: The Lasko design is getting a bit old as far as I can see. The Dreo is updated and meets the demand of some young couples like us. Its black & golden finish makes this unit look really modern and slender for placement in the home décor. Our main living room is a bit retro style, but it fits into the room just right! It does not require much of a dedicated space and can be placed in a safe corner in the room. We use it in the living room watching our favorite show to keep the place warm, and once we are done, we move it back to the bedroom. Sometimes my dog likes to sit in front of the heater (by our side), the quiet warm wind makes him drowsy on cold days. NOISE: Both are quiet at all fan speeds, not like other heating units that are so loud that they keep you up all night! Generally, the fan in the heaters makes a humming noise throughout. But I would say this Dreo heater is one of the quietest heaters I ever used. THERMOSTAT: The Lasko has 3 heat settings: high heat, low heat, or fan only, and 12 temperature settings. The Dreo has a high, low, and eco, plus precisely adjustable thermostat from 41 to 95 in 1 increments, You can also set a timer for the heater to automatically turn off if required. The Lasko controls are simple and easy to follow yet it has no extra features other than fan speed. From user experience, dreo’s refined custom control is more suitable for young people who are constantly pursuing the quality of life, while lasko’s overly simple design maybe more suitable for some 80-year-olds to quickly get started. SAFETY FEATURES: Both are built-in protection, so you don't have to worry about the protection button worn out. A space heater as small as 16 inches may get knocked down by a curtain, a dog, or some furniture being moved. An overheated device lying on your carpet can result in a fire. This tip-over sensor can greatly prevent fires and burn injuries by turning off the heating element before it becomes damaged or overheats in any way, preventing serious accidents from happening. After I have used them a couple of times, they can really do the job. MY FINAL THOUGHTS： Beyond the remote, the Dreo does everything the Lasko can plus more including a timer, a easy-to-read display, and a precise thermostat. Both brands can optionally be set to move side to side. The Dreo costs a little more but for us, it’s easily worth it. If you are looking for a delicate modern design heater that will provide ample heat for your small spaces in a big house, then this Dreo 16 inches space heater is the most definitely one I would recommend checking out. It is straightforward to use and puts out a strong heat output for such a small device while also providing multiple safety features, which can be invaluable if you have kids or pets in your home.     • Great little heater, but a little noisy on ocellate.

The heater works very well for a 18'x25' bedroom size room. The thermostat is a nice feature and is fairly accurate. The fan is not too noisy, however when using the ocellate feature there is a noticeable clicking sound at the beginning and end of each rotation. The only real concern I have is, the plug gets warm after a 1/2 hour or so of use. Safety is a key concern with these portable heaters and I am not sure this one is drawing too many amps but I don't think the plug should be that warm (I have two other brands that do not get warm). I had high hopes for this heater. It looks nice, and keeps my room warm, but the ECO doesn’t work. It never turns off. Even tried it during a hot day, still no reaction. There is also no discernible difference between H1/H2/H3. It was whisper quit the first day, but got a little more noisy after that. Not too bad though. Good white noise. But it does randomly click, more so when oscillating but it’s annoying if napping or sleeping. The remote should have individual buttons or some sort of dots/ridges/indication/separation to help with using the remote in the dark. ... show more

    • Worst plug in set up

This is the best and worst heater all in one and it breaks my heart. This heater has everything I could possibly need and want. It has a remote, up to 12hr timer, eco setting, 3 different heat settings, temp to 90, oscillation, it’s a tower, it’s quiet, it’s strong, it’s fast. But this company made it so that it can’t be plugged into a surge protector and needs to be completely by itself in the wall outlet. I share my house with 2 other ppl. The heater is for myself in my room. I have a total of 3 outlets all in use. There is not a single by itself outlet making it impossible to use this heater. I gave it a shot. Within 4 days on eco mode it cut out all the power in half my room. New set up with an extension cord and it’s frying that cord. They say they make it with safety features but if so why couldn’t it be plugged in with at least one other thing in the wall why does it have to be completely solo? That seems unreasonable. It makes me sad because I love this heater but because of those huge donts and seeing the results I might have to return it. I say the company should fix that and then this would be the perfect heater. But this makes it literally unusable ... show more

    • Does *Not* Provide Much Heat

I really had high hopes for this heater. However, despite some excellent features, this unit does not live up to its description at all. The listing for it describes it as capable of warming a large room, which sounded great. However, after setting it up in a medium-sized room, on maximum heat output (H3), I found that it only warmed the room a few degrees at most and topped out there - and this was on a chilly day (temperatures around 46-50 ℉). I also experimented with the lower heat settings and found that the highest level of heat output (H3) ℉ did not produce much more heat than the medium level (H2) did. This is really a shame because the other aspects of the heater really are as described. It really is very quiet, lightweight, easy to carry, and the remote is a great feature that makes it quite convenient to use. However, in the end, it just does not provide much heat. So I am very disappointed in this heater and cannot recommend it. ... show more
