This is one of the best kero heaters; we use in a greenhouse for temperatures below 10°F. I ruined a wick by pumping kero from an old heater that had been in the humid greenhouse for a year -- should have discarded the wet kero. Safety is good, but the emergency cutoff is awfully sensitive, tends to trip while adjusting the flame. Still, one of the best and we have owned several of this model. ... show more

PUTS OUT TONS OF HEAT AND EATS A LOT OF KEROSENE . THE BIRD GAGE IS OKAY BUT I DID NOT TRUST ANY OF IT AND REMOVED IT. KEEPING IN PLACE THE TWO ORIGINAL VERTICAL BRACKETS, ON EACH SIDE OF THE BODY, I MADE A STRONGER BAIL HANDLE THAT HOOKS TO THEM. It heats up our room no problem but this is the 3rd one we have bought because the knob you turn only lasts a year. Infact tomorrow will be exactly 1 year ago that we bought this one and the knob no longer works. We have been very gentle with it because of the history of the knobs breaking. It did no good, here it is a year later and the knob will no longer turn. To be totally honest, we only use the heater 3 months out of the year so I guess the knob is only good for 3 months.
