The 3 pan set with cast iron lids are very economical and worth the money! The lids also fit on several other pans I already have. But be aware that these are very rough and the pre seasoning is just to prevent rusting while in storage for purchase. I wouldn’t consider them ready to cook on. It’s going to take 4-5 cycles of seasoning to get them to function well while cooking (but that is typical of modern cast iron). I just got my pans tonight and have done one cycle of seasoning with beeswax/grape seed/canola oil on them. It’s going to take at least 3 more cycles to get them cooking worthy. But don’t let that discourage purchase, it’s worth the effort and these pans will last many, many decades or longer if cared for. Just realize that cast iron does take a bit of initial work to get them to cook well...and once it’s done the maintenance is minimal. This was a wise and economical investment that will last a very long time (in fact, improve over time). I would purchase again...except there isn’t a need to (these will likely last a century or more). For anyone that isn’t sure on how to season or care for cast iron there are a lot of videos that explain the process. It isn’t hard...and you’ll soon realize that cast iron cookware is superior to any modern nonstick pans. Only thing I don’t use cast iron for is acidic sauces, like spaghetti...so having a few non cast iron sauce pans is still a good idea.

I grew up using cast iron skillets my entire life, but sadly got rid of mine over 20 years ago because of the negativity concerning cast iron and the maintenance. I decided I wanted to cook with them again and my husband purchased a 12” CI skillet for me but it was too large and heavy for every day use, and it didn’t have a lid. This one is perfect for most of what I cook in it and the lid makes it double as a roasting pan in the oven. The silicone grips included are a great idea in theory, but because they still get very hot when in use, I decided against using them after the first couple of times. If you’re not familiar to cast iron cooking you have to understand the prep and maintenance required before you purchase. It does take some time and consistent use to get them properly seasoned to make them almost non stick, and you have to be very careful how you clean them. The effort is worth it to me. There is nothing like home fried chicken, or a pan of biscuits or cornbread prepared in a cast iron skillet. Overall, there are more expensive brands out there, but so far this one seems to be a good value and fit my cooking needs. Note: I was already familiar with the maintenance and seasoning required, but was very impressed with the information included concerning how to season, clean, and maintain your cast iron cookware.

I purchased this set as my first cast iron skillet set. It took me a few uses to get accustomed to cooking with cast iron. I can definitely see how people are burning their food using these skillets. There are a few things you need to do to ensure you maintain these skillets. First, you should season this set. They come pre-seasoned, but that is not enough. Research how to preseason cast iron skillets. It takes about 45mins and it will ensure you skillet set forms a durable non-stick surface. It's important to wash, dry, and lightly oil these skillets soon after each use. Lightly oiling these skillets prevents rusting while in storage. I was surprised at how easily stuck-on food washes off. This is due to me pre-seasoning this set as mentioned above. For cooking, I recommend turning the fire down and cooking things slower until you get a good feel for this set. Cast iron distributes heat more evenly and better than other skillets, so cooking on high can and will burn your food fast if you're not watching closely. If you follow these recommendations, you will love this set and it should last you a lifetime. What I like: - Price - Durability - Quality - Includes silicon handle covers (very nice!) What I dislike: - Slight learning curve needed to ensure proper care of set. - Slight learning curve needed to ensure food is cooked properly.

First of all, this skillet looks very old fashioned...which I love!!! The Cuisinel Cast Iron Skillet + Cast Iron Lid - 10"-Inch Dual Handle Frying Pan is simply charming. When I got it, I immediately washed it and put a very light coating of grapeseed oil on it and seasoned it again ( the skillet was perfectly seasoning...better than most - it's just my own preference to reseason). My standard for any cast iron skillet is baking cornbread, and I must say the Cuisinel Cast Iron Skillet + Cast Iron Lid - 10"-Inch Dual Handle Frying Pan handled it beautifully! The cornbread baked evenly and the sides and bottom were browned to perfection with no burn spots! Also, the dual D shaped handles make takin this skillet out of the oven so much easier AND with a glass lid this skillet looks great on the dinner table! I now can't wait to fry eggs and pancakes! After, that my next project will be to slow cook a roast. The cast iron lid with the protrusions of moisture to drip down will insure a tender roast.♥
