I purchased this set as my first cast iron skillet set. It took me a few uses to get accustomed to cooking with cast iron. I can definitely see how people are burning their food using these skillets. There are a few things you need to do to ensure you maintain these skillets. First, you should season this set. They come pre-seasoned, but that is not enough. Research how to preseason cast iron skillets. It takes about 45mins and it will ensure you skillet set forms a durable non-stick surface. It's important to wash, dry, and lightly oil these skillets soon after each use. Lightly oiling these skillets prevents rusting while in storage. I was surprised at how easily stuck-on food washes off. This is due to me pre-seasoning this set as mentioned above. For cooking, I recommend turning the fire down and cooking things slower until you get a good feel for this set. Cast iron distributes heat more evenly and better than other skillets, so cooking on high can and will burn your food fast if you're not watching closely. If you follow these recommendations, you will love this set and it should last you a lifetime. What I like: - Price - Durability - Quality - Includes silicon handle covers (very nice!) What I dislike: - Slight learning curve needed to ensure proper care of set. - Slight learning curve needed to ensure food is cooked properly.

I love this set! Lots of different sizes and uses makes it a great value. They are cast iron so they’re kind of heavy. I didn’t think they too heavy, but my mom did. They are very rough when you first get them so season, season, season! Cook really fatty foods on them first and then they won’t stick… unless you forget to heat the pan first or don’t season well. They have even heat distribution if on the right eye. I use them on my cooktop and in the oven with no problems. You can even use them on the grill, in the smoker, or over the campfire (selling points for my husband). Yes, they take some extra TLC but they seem like good quality and will last a really long time!
