I'm going to review this unique individual, RIGHT HERE. Got this particular device in yesterday. While after reading this you may feel compelled to rush to Amazon or an alternative online or local dealership to purchase this, but do be weary prior to having knowledge of this tale of caution: I was able to claim ownership on a device for far cheaper, indicating that waiting on stock to replenish at a reasonable price would be a far superior decision. Think of a George Foreman, and then think of what he could be if his name was George Fiveman. This is the Cuisinart Griddler Deluxe, model number GR-150 Featured here are TWO (count' em) TWO hotplates that are easy to snap on and off and are coated with a serious nonstick spray that makes cleaning that much easier. Dishwasher? By hand? The choice is yours. But the plates don't stop there. They get hot, yes. But did you know they also TRANSFORM? One side has ridges, as to prop your meats into the air to better allow fat to drain into the center grease tray. The other side? Flat. Griddle your breakfast of champions, champion. We cannot stop the hype train quite right now on the hotplates, as there's a phenomenal quality to this machine. The panini-press like machine will gladly fold it's top open FLAT. Now, at first we were playing with 120 square inches (10 inches x 12 inches) top and bottom. But after we've opened the machine, letting its popping, sizzling wings splay we're gifted with 240 inches ( (10 inches x 12 inches) + (10 inches x 12 inches) ) of cooking area! Friends let me tell you I made 8 pancakes at once on this machine. Before on regular pans, I could only hope for 2. Got your TICKETS? Train is still rolling as we move onto an unexpected contender for the "neat things" titletude is the... closing mechanism?....! A particular feature of this device is that when you choose to close the lid down, you can choose and set a height to achieve different cooking scenarios. Sear both sides of a steak without squishing the morsel, thus destroying the original intent of searing a steak. Give bacon the iconic ~wavy~ shape that it has been portrayed in your favorite shows on TV. Toast your arti`san bread from the arti`san bread store owned and operated by arti`sanly artisans . Being in IT, I can tell you that information is technology. When turned to a heavenly desired temperature, the knobs will let glow a red LED. When the accompanying knob for either top plate or bottom plate reaches the commanded temperature, the aforementioned LED will glow green. With this information, you'll be able to make more efficient kitchen decisions on a day to day basis. I've mentioned this before, but the Cuisinart Griddler Deluxe, model GR-150, has a soft spot for Searing Samaritans. Two buttons for both horizontally aligned plates labeled "SEAR" will increase a particular electronic quality in the machine to boost the temperature of the plates to 500 degrees Featherweight for precisely two minutes. If you remember your adjustable top mentioned early, you can do this on both sides. At the same time. A four minute process is now a two minute process, a 50% decrease in time spent applying heat to the steak. From a personal experience, I was watching the 2016 presidential election while I put on a large amount of bacon, set the machine to 250 degrees, and closed it leaving just the tiniest bit of space so the bacon was not completely burned. As I watched events unfold, the TV became metaphorically adhesive. Two hours passed, and the thought of bacon cooking entered my mind. A quick rush to the machine left me anticipating burnt disappointment. I opened the lid revealing perfectly brown golden crispy bacon. Both edible and delicious!     • Awesome for family of 4!! Some tips!

Bought the Deluxe model. My only regret is not buying this sooner for our family of 4 (two adults, 2 teen boys). Received it yesterday and so far made: for dinner we made 4 large frozen burgers (5 minutes) w/ grilled mushrooms, grilled green beans (best we've ever had!), for breakfast we made a tube of sausage, 10 pieces of bacon, grilled broccoli, 6 precooked hashbrown patties, and scrambled eggs on one side of the griddle and fried eggs on the other side, ALL in about 30 minutes altogether. Switching between grill and griddle to do eggs was super easy, even with the hot grill plates. Clean up from breakfast was so easy (rinse the plates and wash the grease catch). Instead of two pans and a large cookie sheet to clean with fully soapy water, it was just two grill plates to rinse and the grease catch to wash. Amazing! This is going to really help save time in cooking on busy weekday nights, which will lead to less reliance on microwavable meals. We, personally had no issues with splatter, even with cooking bacon and sausage all the way to the edge of the grill. One reviewer complained about grease building up on the grill and not flowing into the trap while cooking bacon, but I didn't have that issue at all, with either the bacon or sausage. Possibly some of their crackling blocked the drain, but if that's the case, you just can clear it easily. I had zero splatter from anything that I cooked, including the sausage and bacon. I noticed a little smoke right at the moment the plates reached the cooking temperature, possibly because there was some oil on the grill plate, but no smoking after the food was put on, only steam. A tip for cooking bacon: the guide book says to cook it on the open griddle, but I layered two pieces together and cooked in the closed position. I was able to cook 10 very large pieces of thick sliced bacon that way, only flipping them once, and it came out amazing and completely drained of fat. Here's a tip for cooking scramble eggs: the scrambled egg runs towards the drain, so I scrambled a small amount and moved it in front of the drain to act as a barrier. After that, none of the scrambled egg mixture went into the grease trap. It makes amazing scrambled eggs without overcooking them (a problem I tend to have in a pan on our gas stove). My only suggestion to Cuisinart is to have a dedicated storage spot on the Griddler to hold the spatula and a replacement parts list with parts numbers in the booklet that comes with it. I plan to buy an extra set of grill plates right away for when the non-stick coating gets worn out, which is likely to happen if I use this everyday, as planned. Bottom line: BUY IT! Can cook a ton of food for a family of 4 in so little time, no mess, minimal, food tastes amazing (especially the grilled vegetables!). ... show more
