Just needed an SSD that I could load some games onto and play off my gaming laptop that had limited storage. I used the type C port on my laptop to have this right on the side and haven’t had any issues. It does get warm to the touch when formatting or just in general use cases, but that is completely normal. No issues at all so far. The included type C cable and adapter to usb are a bit on the shorter side. If i had to guess it’s no more than 4 inches in length so keep that in mind. The storage is accurate, it feels as advertised, and works as advertised as well. When I’m use on my iPad Air 4 it does get warm to the touch, very warm at times. I don’t know if that’s an issue or just what is supposed to happen but that’s been my experience. Other than that it’s fine.

I'm using this as a backup volume on a mac with USB 3.0 ports. Consistently get read/write speeds of 437/413 MB/s. Obviously, I wish I could have USB 3.1 ports to unlock this drive's higher transfer speeds but that's not the drive's fault. I'd be getting double these speeds if not for my computer's limitations. This is almost exactly what another Samsung T5 that I'm using as my main volume gets...and that's double the price. I definitely will be going with Micron when I need another external SSD! ... show more

The read speed on mine doesn't really get above 800mb/s even plugged into a type C, the write speeds aren't the best but for the price I can't complain about that, it gets the job done fairly quickly... I will say sit this thing in front of a fan or something if you're installing several games back to back as it overheats quite quickly without moving air around it. I wound up putting it under my laptop cooler and it stays pretty cool there vs just sitting on the lap desk. ... show more

You would buy this because it’s fast. Here is data from a little 5 minute test. Regular USB 3 thumb drives got 10-15 MB/s. My older Western Dig USB drive ran about 60 MB/s. This drive transferred at 220 MB/s. This is a VERY INFORMAL test just watching Windows Explorer graph. The computer is a new Dell writing from SSD so that side should be really fast.
