  • Take control of your data and security
Capacity: 2TB
I have 2 external Crucial X6 SSDs, 2 external X8 SSDs, all in 1TB capacity, and this my first Crucial X8 2 TB SSD, all connested to one USB port on one of my laptops throuigh a Juiced Systems Vertex USB C 10 GB/S powered hub. One laptop has a 5GB/s USB port, and the newer one has a 10GB/s USP port. In either system, these drives perform as well (in my real world usage) as if they were internal drives. I use them to (finally) get control of my data organized into catagories. So handle mainstream data, multimedia data, games, and regular backup copies of all important data . I can (and do) move my entire data repository between laptops by just moving a single USP plus, NO cloud concerns, NO NAS complexity, and NO worries about hacking, ransomeware, or intrusive online snoopers. When I choose, my entire data repository can be air gap secure by just pulling a USB plug. My internal C drive is thus limited to the OS and program files, all of which I can reload from online secure sources if I have to wipe and rebuild a nonfunctional system. After using PC for over 40 years, I finally feel like I've got it right! ... show more

  • I take my bad review back. Smoking fast if you set it up right!
Capacity: 4TB
To get full performance, obviously this drive needs everything just right. The port should be USB 3.2. I have it on a 3.2 Gen 2 port and am getting writes between 500 and 1100Mb/s! The cable needs to be good quality, at least certified for USB 3.2 gen 1. I used a Thunderbolt cable, which seemed to work as well. Last is I had no luck with exfat. Reformatting to NTFS and it worked perfectly. There is no performance loss switching to NTFS. You will just be limited to Windows. On the positive it will run beautifully! ... show more

  • Easy to set-up
Capacity: 1TB
Easy to set-up right out of the box. Bought two of these for my Mac Time Machine back-up, which will alternately backup between the two of them. This is a feature of the Mac, not the Crucial drives.

  • Best ssd solution for Xbox Series
Capacity: 2TB
If you have a Xbox Series S/X this is 100% a necessary storage solution IF you do not want to break your wallet/pockets on the Seagate card for the system. Although this will not be as convenient as the proprietary Seagate card it still allows for easy, and much speedier data transfer than what you would get with a traditional external hdd. With this I can transfer a 50-60gb game to the internal drive of my Series X in about 2-3mins vs. the 8-10 when moving a game from a 1200rpm, usb 3.2 drive. The transfer from internal to external is relatively speedier too with it taking just shy of 5mins to transfer RE VIIIlage to the ssd but roughly 13mins to the external hdd (8tb Seagate firecuda game drive). All in all until there are more affordable, high capacity storage options for internal storage on the Xb Series systems these things are a great short-term solution. I recommend viewing Digital Foundry's YouTube overview on external hdd vs ssd performance on Xbox Series vs PS5 for more examples of why this drive (and others like it) out perform hdds and nvme drives. ... show more

  • Works great with my Windows 10 computers
Capacity: 1TB
I backed up my Windows 10 Desktop and Laptop with no problem. The free Acronis for Micron software worked flawlessly. About a month previous I bought a disk drive (not from Crucial), and I ended up returning it to Amazon. I couldn't get the Acronis software to find the external drive. No such problems with the Crucial drive. Data transfer rate was 800-1000 Mbps for my desktop 3.0 USB, and around 300 Mbps for the laptop's 2.0 USB. ... show more

  • Works well with Xbox One S.
Capacity: 1TB
Easy installation on an Xbox One S. Cuts loading times in half. Loading time for my heaviest game (FH5) dropped from 3'50 to 1'55. (edited for Xbox One S instead of Xbox Series S - I must have been daydreaming)
