It blows cold air when using the ice boxes provided. I keep one in the freezer, and rotate them every 5 hours or so. Enough time to refreeze. I also put slushy water in the tank to help. Even with all that, it’s still hard to keep our upstairs 10x12 bedroom cool all day, but it’s still much cooler than without it. Only complaint are the instructions. Not only are they completely unclear, but they aren’t even for this mode. I have no idea what the “Anion” button does, and there is only a on/off cool setting- not three levels like the instructions suggest. Luckily it’s pretty easy to use anyway. Even on high, it’s very quiet and soothing. Others have suggested it leaks... haven’t had any leaks at all, and we have been running it non-stop for a week straight... haven’t turned it off even once, and it functions perfectly. You can feel the temp difference as soon as I add the fresh ice box to the top tank too. Definitely worth the buy. Update: After nearly three months, it died. The power still works and water flows on the cool setting, but the fan stopped spinning. Contacting the seller for any possible warranty or replacement. Still 5 stars- they offered to replace it or give me $60 to take it in locally to be fixed. Immediate and courteous response. ... show more

Very cheaply made product for how much it costed, on top of that the trade to fill water that’s supposed to be removable it’s not actually removable so you can’t take it out to clean it. Also the front area that tells you what level of water it’s at doesn’t actually show what level it’s at. I use my phone flashlight and everything and still couldn’t see what level the water was actually at, two days after using it it mysteriously started leaking water everywhere soaking through our carpet. To top it off it didn’t cool the room down at all even with an ice pack and using Coldwater Very cheaply made product for how much it costed, on top of that the trade to fill water that’s supposed to be removable is not actually removable so you can’t take it out to clean it. PROs – We are getting high 80s or 90s °F in dry California and it can help to cool down a baby at night or A SINGLE home office PERSON afternoon IF (AND ONLY IF) combined with a stronger fan and putting both close to the lucky person. I also use an ice pack (that came with it) and cold water with ice cubes in it to maximize the single person cooling effect. – This doesn't use much electricity as compared to real AC units. – moving it when full of water is not easy nor perfect, but definitely can be done on flat surfaces and short distances. CONs – It does add some preparation work and the risk of spilling water close to the Electrical outlet when refilling it. Be careful! – Checking the water level in the dark is not easy as there is no light indicator. Actually the position of the LEDs on the panel are confusing as they're on the opposite side of their respective buttons. – The ice packs are useful, although one is swallowing after 2 weeks of use. COMPARISON – Compared to the small table air coolers for less than $50, I would rather have this one than 2 of those as they can only cool down your hands when being tested. I got one and returned it. I can infer the others shouldn't be better as they all look as coming from the same factory and can a really small fan with a small engine on a plastic body really blow strong cool air? Plus many of them seem to have suspiciously high reviews from different products like spice racks and bedside lamps. Furthermore, this unit got 4 stars instead of real 3.5 For the +/- $100 price I would rather get 2 PUF1810C 18" Patton fans which are strong and easy to move. But I didn't think it was worth the hassle to return this one, as it does work under the aforementioned conditions. ... show more

I bought this because my family just moved to Arizona last September and the last bits of summer made us miserable. I got this because after the winter the temperatures keep climbing and I dread what the heat will be, especially as we try to save money by keeping the the thermostat just under 90. I moved from Salem, OR where that was high temperature! So what you need to know about this unit. It works, sort of. It will cool immediate area in front of it but not your whole room. It will make your room feel muggy like you live in Florida if you leave it on all night. At least that has been my experience. I seem to have the highest concentration of heat in the house. The directions for this machine are crap, but basically once the wheels are one you freeze two blue blocks of plastic with water in them and put one of them frozen in the compartment on top of the machine. Water runs past this block to help cool the water. On this left site of the machine is a panel flap that open like a mail or laundry chute. This is where you pour the water in. Buy a drink pitcher to narrow the out put unless you like getting a lot of water on the floor. I have found that a better way to make the cooler work is take that drink pitcher and put lots of ice in the bottom. Then pour the water to use over it as the pitcher fills the ice melts and turns the water cold. This helps the cooler create a nice frigid breeze for a while much quicker than the blue frozen block alone. Than fan and oscillation works pretty well on its on. Empty of water its light and easy to move. But again, it will not cool you whole room just the area in front of it. If you want a cool breeze for a whole room maybe get a tower fan. ... show more

This little evaporative cooler is so much better than I expected. With solid chunks of ice and cold water, the cooling is better than the portable A/C set to 62 deg. That is the truth. I do not feel humidity coming from it, and I live in So FL where it is 99% humidity every day in the summer. I would be suffering without this cooler. And I have to say, Costway's customer service is top-notch. A company I will seek out for future purchases. Everything about this purchase is a "DO" and DO again! Great functions in Anion air purifying with filter, 3 fan speeds, "natural air-flow" - with cooling on or off, Remote control super convenient. No stars for warmth because I use it for cooling which is 4.5 stars. Rolls smoothly and easily. I will be able to plug this in and use outside while I paint and without it, I cannot go outside because it is 110 degrees and humid. Photos show "swing" function, Natural air function, timer (7.5 hours) and the ice and cold water lasts that long for cooling; other functions. ... show more

I was really excited when buying this item because I had hoped to have the ability to stay cool without having to crank the air conditioning at night to keep my room cold. It does not keep you cool as the product describes. It also says it cools a room (I used it in a small bedroom) that does not happen either. I froze the 2 gel packs and added one to the machine as described for more cool air but there is no difference. Also using the cool setting it sounds like a waterfall it is not very silent. ... show more

The reviews are way over hyped. I read every review about this unit. Im 20 years old moved into a place with low grade air conditioning and what I’ve heard is “this blows ICE cold” ....it doesnt, cant even feel a difference when you put in the ice pack and it feels like a weak fan... i can barely feel a difference when i fill it with water twice a day. By the way, it starts beeping when it runs out of water and you’re dead asleep. My pops bought a swamp cooler that was $50 more than this and it blows ICE cold with out any icepacks and it can cool down an entire room tripple the size of mine. Thumbs down for me. Update: i woke up in the middle of the night with it beeping after i had just filled it up with water around 10pm and i turned on the lights to find out the entire room was flooded with water, all leaking from the cooler. 100% would not invest in this system. I have been using Amazon for like 4 years. This is my FIRST Review. I feel like I have to write it. I have been tortured by how dry the room can get when you turn the heaters on in winters. The humidity drops to below 30% or even 20% and you can feel you face is burning and scorching. It is definitely a hell. I have tried the ultrasonic humidifier. It is crappy. Never rise the humidity in the room even by a bit. I bought this product. It is AMAZING as a humidifier. My room humidity can rise to 50% easily with my heaters on. Thanks god.
