The price looked good, but it came with all the parts that were necessary to hook it up. In the end I paid as much as I would have to anyone to install this generator plus all the hassle.

We just had a reputable electrical contractor install this unit with transfer switch and it is a complete joke. I have been using standby generators for years and this unit is guaranteed to fail us when we need it the most due to our remote mountain location and low temperatures. I am in the process of removing, loading up a truck and returning the unit and its accessory components. Heres why: This unit WILL NOT FUNCTION without continuous internet connectivity. This unit cannot be shut down manually for more than 2-hours during a prolonged outage without bricking the starting battery (200$ replacement) and then will have to be reconfigured by factory-trained personnel. Good luck having that happen during a 2-week outage without internet and the roads blocked by snow and downed trees. This jenky, fragile computer/internet dependent unit is guaranteed to fail you when you need it the most. Generac costumer support is entirely non-existant regarding solutions to the self-destructing starting-battery design flaw. That is Generac’s glaring dirty little secret. It needs continuous 110v AC power either from the grid or from its own running or the AGM starting battery will fatally die because the battery needs to feed the onboard computers even if the unit is shut down. If you try to supply power to the battery charger from another source while it’s shut down, that will void the warranty. It will drain your 500-gallon propane tank and then turn into little more than a boat anchor 5-days into a typical 2-week power outage that we commonly experience up here in the Sierra. You will spend thousands trying to keep it semi-reliable and, like I mentioned earlier, it WILL let you down when you need it the most. We made a huge mistake having this installed and it will cost us thousands to replace the system with a reliable ANALOG alternative. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ! ... show more
