Easy to use right out of the box. Humidity started dropping immediately and my basement is much more comfortable now and no more mildew smell. The tank fills up in about eight hours with the summer humidity, so I recommend using the hose. Comes with an adapter for a garden hose extension.

I have a much older dehumidifier in my basement, it sounds like it is on its last legs. Very noisy, not energy efficient. It also is hard to move, so I got this one as a backup. But I might just run this one all the time, just run that on really humid days, or when we get water in our basement. This is currently in my kitchen, it is about 2 feet tall, 14 inches wide and 9 inches deep. The back, long side has a filter, and bucket pulls out the side, below the controls. Really reminds me of an old computer, just taller. It is black with silver colored trim. Pictures have stickers still on, if you cared how it looks you could remove them. Super easy to unpack and install. Mine arrived on its side, decided to let it "rest" upright for day before running (instructions say you don't have to, but why risk it?). Buttons are like a touch screen, so if you have dogs or kids, probably want to use the child lock on the keys, just a bump will change the settings. Comes with two instructions books, offering different languages, plus a quick start guide. As far as how it works, it works! I turned it on, and it started running. The noise is pretty consistent between fan speeds, but is not loud. About the same as most fans or an air purifier. You know it's on, but don't need to yell over it. It could easily stay in our kitchen, but there is not a good "out of the way, spot for it. It does need air circulation around it, so shouldn't be in a closet or cabinet. I have had it on for about an hour, just checked and got about a cup of water. Obviously your output will be dependent upon many other factors. When it is time to empty, there is a little corner flap you lift up to dump through. It also comes with a little hose for running into a floor drain, and a hose adapter to extend the included hose to a garden hose if you want to drain into a far away drain. Drain must be sloped down, so can not run hose up into a sink or anything like that. And it does make our house more comfortable in the summer. Today it is 85 outside, and humid. I have the shades drawn on sunny side, dehumidifiers going and am very comfortable. Much less power than running the AC. Love that it is energy star, still uses power, but more efficient than my previous one. Great investment in your house, certain energy saver compared to AC, quiet, and seems to be working well. 5 stars.

It is big and fortunately packaged with enough Styrofoam packing material to protect it from damage. The foam was broken around it because of it being in an Amazon shipping box which was too big for it, but the unit was undamaged. It assembles easy enough, mostly removing tape and taking parts out of the inside. If you are going to set it up with the drain hose, there is a little more setup to attach the hose, but it is easy enough to do. I don't have a good place to install the hose so I didn't do it. It has a funky smell for the first 15 or so minutes after starting it up, but you either get used to it, or what ever is causing the smell gets washed off and into the tank. Another issue is they are listing it as a 22 pint dehumidifier in the name of it. That is what they are calling capacity and it would lead one to believe that it has a 22 pint tank, or about 3.3 gallons. Well that isn't the case. It has a 1.37 gallon tank. I have no idea what the difference is, but it has a fairly small tank. That is very deceptive. Now is it the end of the world? No, but it does mean that you will have to empty the tank multiple times a day so that it can run 24 hours, especially important if you are using it in an extremely high humidity area, like a wet basement. It ran continuously for about 14-15 hours in a damp basement before the tank was filled. I checked on it every couple hours to see how the tank was filling to monitor its progress. I have other dehumidifiers with 3 gallon tanks which can run continuously for 24+ hours without needing to be emptied. If you are going to use this in a high moisture environment it means you will need to empty its tank twice a day in order to keep up, if you have to use the tank. I got it because of the 22 pint claim, which I think is total BS at this point and meaningless. It's possible that 22 pint capacity means it is capable of 22 pints a day, but that isn't correct either as 22 pints is about 3.3 gallons. By my math it is only capable of doing about 2 gallons a day, or about 16 pints. Something just isn't mathing right here. It has wheels on the bottom which makes it easy to move around, but that causes another issue. If you can't use it with the drain hose, which I'm guessing is the case for many people, pulling the tank out is just a little bit annoying as you have to hold the unit while you pull the tank out, otherwise it will pull the entire unit. The wheels work too well and the tank sticks in the tank too well to actually pull it out. Which, as you have to empty it multiple times a day, makes the entire process more tedious. They say it is quiet. I would say quiet is a relative term. While it isn't loud and annoying like one of my old units, it is still loud enough to hear from about 20 feet away in an open room. It claims to have a night mode where it is 50% quieter, but I set the mode and I couldn't tell a difference in noise level. As a matter of fact it appears it is in night mode by the default. The controls don't have actual buttons, they are capacitive touch sensing buttons, which seem to work well enough. It does its job and it has a modern look which isn't ugly. It has some things about it which are very annoying to me. If you are going to use it with the tank in an area where it will only fill the tank once every 24 hours or so, it may be a good option for you. Comparing this to others you can get through your typical home improvement or department store, this one seems a bit over priced considering its small tank size and its capacity which seems closer to 16 pints a day, rather than 22 pints.
