Finally, a Space Heater That Doesn’t Look Like a Space Heater

This thing does a tremendous job heating my entire living room. Super Quiet and What I like most is that it doesn’t feel like I have a bulky space heater sitting in the middle of the room. I mounted mine directly on the wall and it’s extremely low profile. Half the time you barely even notice it’s there. The heat output surprised me. It does a great job warming the whole room rather than just making the area directly in front of the heater feel warm. The WiFi is what really makes it useful though. Once connected to the app, you can control the temperature from your phone and set up schedules so you’re not constantly turning it on and off manually. I have mine set around when we actually use the living room, so the room can already be comfortable when we’re in there. Tip: If you’re wall mounting it, spend a few extra minutes thinking about placement before drilling. I’d put it somewhere with open space around it rather than behind furniture or curtains so you’re not blocking the airflow. I have a 480 square foot attached and fully insulated garage. In the winter, it gets cold in there but due to being insulated never quite as cold as the outside temperature. Looking for a safe, economical way to make it possible to use the garage in winter, I found this. I didn't want a propane or kerosene heater because of fumes and safety issues. I didn't want to spend hundreds on an electrician to come run 220 out to the garage (there isn't any out there) either. So this unit plugs right in to the 110 outlet, mounted it on the wall and it works. It's been in the 20's outside here in upstate NY all week and this heater has kept the garage at a cozy 65 degrees. It would probably get it warmer if I cranked it up and let it run for days on end. But I have the thermostat set on the app on my iPhone for 65 degrees and by God, this unit has kept the garage at that temp (verified by another thermometer). It doesn't get hot on the outside and I feel perfectly safe letting it run for hours. The only issue for me is that the floor is concrete and it's still cold - it would take a really robust heat source to warm it up in there to the point that the floor warms up. Otherwise, this heater keeps the garage warm enough to work on stuff in shorts, melt the snow off the cars and dry things out overnight. I'm absolutely thrilled...so far. Only time will tell how long this unit will last - it's not exactly "commercial" grade. Also, don't expect this to heat an uninsulated garage or otherwise vented space and don't expect it to blast so much heat that the concrete floor gets warm...it won't do those things - it just doesn't have the balls. But for a fully insulated/finished space it works astonishingly well for the money and for how easy it is to install and use. ... show more

HS-1500-PHX-WIFI -- I LOVE it!

As there are several models listed here, this review is for the HS-1500-PHX-WIFI model. Remote: No need for it! "Alexa Heat Storm on" and she goes bing-bong and my heater starts up with the last setting. "Alexa Heat Storm off" is just as instant. "Alexa Heat Storm 72" produces the expected result right away. The SmartLife app configuration was a little clunky, and is necessary to link the Heat Storm to Alexa. I've configured many smart appliances for myself and for clients, and was a tad disappointed with this. But the ability to configure smart automation and one-touch activation more than makes of for the minor inconvenience, as does the retention of WiFi link and settings even after unplugging for several weeks. I bought the unit to replace the inefficient and costly built-in central heat in the motor home I live in. It mounted beautifully to my hall closet door, and this location keeps my bathroom (and toidie seat!) nice and toasty even as temperatures drop into the teens like this last winter. Though there aren't enough BTUs to keep all 25' warm, closing the hall partition keeps my bunkhouse and bathroom quite comfy. Since installing the Heat Storm, I have never had to endure a frigid house. I use the app on my iPhone to start the heat just 5 minutes out, and all's good when I get home -- it's that fast. The cleanable filters are wonderful -- and I'm a smoker, so this is important to me. Every 5 or 6 weeks during the cold months I turn the heat off midday and plop them in a bucked of warm water with a little Dawn. I soak for 10 minutes then swish them around, finally rinsing under clear warm water in the bathroom sink, hanging to dry for 20 or 30 minutes, and reinstalling. I really like the cool-down feature in the built-in thermostat. This unit maintains even temperature better than ANY unit I've used over the decades, and this translates to real, noticeable energy savings. Other units wait until it's uncomfortably cold before starting up, wasting more energy as they run longer to fight the winter bitterness, then cut off immediately upon reaching the set temp before starting all over again. My electricity bill was 10% to 15% lower this year during the winter months, and I was toastier than ever! Unlike so much of my smart home stuff, I don't have to have a conversation with my appliance to get it to do my bidding. I snap a brief command at Alexa and the Heat Storm just DOES IT. We are really pleased with this heater so far. Bought for a bathroom as supplemental heating to main house heating. The product looks clean, smart and modern and functions just the same. The Wifi is a must and the main reason i purchased this device. The app allows you to control the heater from the phone but more importantly to schedule the device to turn on and turn off at preset times (like early morning), at your desired temperature, and on your choices of days (like "work days only" as an example). The heater works by radiant heat but also has a blower. The blower is not overly loud. There are 3 selectable modes for the blower/heat power: Low, High and Auto. Auto mode operates at full power (100%) until the room (ambient) temperature is within a degree or so of the set (desired) temperature and then it "throttles down" to 50% until the room is up to the desired set temperature. High and Low modes simply operate at High (100%) or Low (50%) continually until the desired temperature is achieved and the thermostat turns the product off, the same as a normal HVAC thermostat control. We simply leave it on Auto mode. The display panel is excellent, you can modify the brightness if desired (also from the app!). The current temperature is displayed and you can manually adjust the set level using the + or - keys (it's essentially a touch screen display almost). The new set temperature will flash for a few seconds for you to see (when adjusted) and then the display returns to the ambient temperature as the heater attempts to meet the set level. Both levels (set and ambient) are displayed together on the app so you can see what the room is and what your appliance is trying to get to. I put a new outlet in the bathroom wall and strategically located the outlet at the rear where there is a large cable storage area with a removable storage cover recessed into the rear plastic body of the heater. This way the cord and outlet are not seen when mounted and it is flush to the wall - it looks great this way and looks like it is "hard-wired" - i included a photo. Note that the rating is 1500Watts which is approximately 12.5 Amps so take this into account if you have other loads on your circuit for wire and breaker sizing but remember that this is a continuous maximum rating (100% power) and this product is not designed to run at 100% indefinitely (since it is thermostat controlled). Also be aware that any bathroom outlets need to be GFCI (although this device does not have a ground pin - it does not exempt an additional outlet from being a GFCI). As always, you should consult a certified electrician and adhere to all code regulations especially for bathroom, kitchen or similar applications. The only issue encountered was during initial wifi setup. When downloading the Smart Life app the initial app install asked for some generic global settings about locations services and out of an abundance of caution i declined some of them (security / privacy reasons). After 30 minutes of frustration trying to discover the device using the EZ connect method and then the manual AP method i finally realized that one of these settings was preventing the discovery of the heater on my network. I was just about to call the help line. (Under iPhone General Settings>Smart Life>Local Network slider should be "on" to "allow Smart Life to access". This is not in the App set up or in the product literature. If this is not set to "on" the heater will not connect at all. As soon as i changed it to on it became available. Since then the Wifi has been consistent and never dropped once in 2 weeks. When the unit is unplugged from the outlet for a long duration the settings remain and so the unit reconnects automatically without user intervention (in case of power outage). The unit is wall mount only but i believe that feet for floor standing are available for purchase from the seller via Amazon. I bought my first Heat Storm HS-1500-PHX-WIFI heater three years ago for my large bedroom, and I was so impressed with how well it worked that I bought a second one last year for our cold basement bathroom. Both units have performed flawlessly, and I honestly wouldn’t want to go through a winter without them. Let’s start with the bedroom unit. My room is pretty spacious, and it used to be hard to keep warm without cranking up the whole-house heat. This heater changed that. Mounted on the wall, it takes up no floor space and puts out enough warmth to keep the entire room cozy—even on the coldest nights. It heats evenly, without drying out the air or making the room feel stuffy. I usually set it to a lower temperature while I sleep, and it holds that temp consistently. The second unit went into a basement bathroom that’s always been icy in the winter, even with the rest of the house heated. The Heat Storm completely transformed the space. I mounted it right on the wall next to the door, and within a few minutes, the chill is gone. It’s made getting ready in the morning a lot more comfortable, especially during the colder months. The Wi-Fi functionality is a huge plus. Being able to control the heaters from my phone using the app means I can turn the bathroom heater on a few minutes before I go down, or check the bedroom temp without getting out of bed. The app has been reliable and easy to use, and both heaters stay connected without any issues. It’s a smart feature that actually adds real convenience. Awesome heating unit!!!!

I bought 2 of these units 3 years ago for my gym which is located outside in a 12x20 building. I was gonna go with a Mr. Cool Mini Split and decided to try these. They are outstanding! I turn them on about 90 minutes before I workout. Building temp is 32 degrees. Inset them on 65 degrees and an hour or so later, the building is at 65! I use them maybe 10 hours per week and noticed no increase in our electric bill. When really cold, I will use one in the house. Takes the chill off a room super fast! Last Winter: I ran this alone as heater, used extension cord (very questionable thing to do btw), 24 hrs because otherwise I would have parished af in the cold of Michigan, in an rv with diy winter insulated protection. What was the result? It performed, though to start, I was under the impression that it had long range wifi connection. I add wifi but I couldn't control from work, so sometimes I would come home to it off 1. Extension cord should be hella expensive with protection specifically for use. 2. My solution was to use a surge protector with the multiple outlets, it worked better and did not transfer heat to cord Note: I think it need to be on low for a while when you do this and gradually increase from mid to high and it should be fine to keep the rest of night. And always turn off the heater immediately if you need to reset the box if you forget to unplug before hitting that lil red button, just incase Can it blow good heat? Yes it can, though any well insulated area is where this would work best I feel or you'll need to ensure the best diy winter or cold protection. Does it run 24hrs? Well it did and it can, safely and the cord is not hot, which was so great to see. But always check and clean the filters, I washed the filters and let them air dry, So make sure you maintain them, the doors are very easy to open, I like them, it reminds me of playing with a toy lol Other products should take notes, like when you remove batteries from something, it should never be that hard to remove the door, so this products doors for the filters are so easy, thank you. But.. - Can you make a long distance heating app, your own app. Its possible and it would be better snd make it superior to itself. - Consider a winterized version with adjustable heat directing. A bigger chamber, like one more grid above for heat enforcement and allow that to run on eco mode, so the fan can run low while the infrared increases, even if you put a reflector behind it.
