I tried 7a first , it was too light, but great coverage. I then tried 6n and it's a perfect light brown, covered all the greys too, just follow the instructions and get their developer. Note that my original color was an ashy brown, somewhere around level 5 with some 8 level highlights. The highlights and the greys came out exactly as the color shown on 6n package, a neutral light brown, the rest of the hair stayed the same level with a neutral brown tint, which is expected and just what I wanted. For me the color after the first application was a shade darker than what is shown on the package, it reached the perfect shade after 1-2 washes. Didn't damage my hair at all, even though I have very dry curly hair. All in all, I will keep purchasing this product, very happy with the results. ... show more

I love Wella and have used it for a few years now. It’s so much better than store brands — always leaves my hair looking and feeling healthy. BUT, since they redid the formulation, the colors come out much darker. I used to use medium brown in about any kind of hair dye, including Wella. Now, medium brown (4N) turns my hair almost black. Light brown (5N) turns it dark brown. I’m considering ordering dark blonde next, which is just goofy. My hair is a solid medium brown, but 4N and 5N are both way too dark. Also, the color does fade more quickly than I’d like. I used color protection shampoo, wear a ball cap outside, and do not wash frequently, so not sure what’s going on.
