This smells awful, the directions are clear and concise and it works as stated. I messed up my hair dying it from light brown to what I was hoping was the blonde I had up until the last several years. Once I had chemo my hair came back like straw and this color. But the color that the dye gave it was orangish yellow. Not the pearl white it was supposed to be. So using this takes it back to your real color and allows you to re-color right away. I was honestly so skeptical on how this would turn out. I’m naturally a strawberry-to-ash blonde and have been box dying my hair blacks, reds and browns since I was FOURTEEN and have not taken a break since. So you’re talking YEARS AND LAYERS. I finally decided to embrace my natural color so I tried this color on oops and CLEARLY it works! NOW READ CAREFULLY. Look at my before and after pics. Super dark hair, to a brassy blonde. I don’t mind the brass, can always be toned with purple conditioner or whatever. But here’s the important part. You LITERALLY have to follow all the directions. No air source during the 20 min wait, heat therapy, hair cap and the HOT HOT SCORCHING shower and shampoo rinse cycle. You aren’t going to get good results if you don’t follow directions lol. I’m telling you, it really honestly works. Downsides are only that it smells like someone vomited a mix of fruity pebbles and eggs.. and kind looks like clumpy egg yolks during the 20 minute saturation before rinsing.. yikes. I had realistic expectations going into this. I didn’t expect the results like on the box. I use Wella color charm to color my hair. I had let the color fade on its own. I decided to try this product to lift before going lighter to avoid damage. It was a waste of money and time. Zero, absolutely ZERO change. It’s almost comical the effort and the excessive rinsing for nothing. The smell like others said is rough. I’d describe it as stinky gym socks and someone who hasn’t washed their crotch area in a few days. I’ll be moving forward with bleach to lift my hair. This is my first review.     • Removed my previous loreal red box dye color
Works really good! I used it to remove the red dye in my hair that I had for almost a year. It lightened/lifted the color out of my hair so I was able to dye my hair a new color with no interference. The smell was strong, almost like sulfur so have a window open when working with it. The smell didn't last in my hair though after using normal shampoo and conditioner. ... show more

    • Didn’t work as well as expected
It does clear away color to some level but it does not strip it back to the natural blonde instead it took me to vivid orange- used second box and it took me to high yellow. This sulphuric egg smell.

    • Loved this product. Here are some tips
I wanted to stop coloring my grays. My hair is shoulder-length, brown, and very thick, so I bought two boxes for the first application. Tips: 1) Read ALL the directions first. 2) Gather all the stuff you're going to need before your start. Make sure to have several towels or old sheet (or whatever you are going to use) to cover the counter below where you apply this. You'll want to wipe off the counter/floor or anywhere there are drips. 3) The "shower cap" they supply is simply a plastic bag. You will need to either tie this on with something around your head, or use a tighter-fitting shower cap. I tied it on with a ribbon, then wrapped an old towel around that like I would after I wash my hair. The towel also keeps the warmth in, which I think is key. They caution not doing this in a cold room or sitting in a draft. 4) I would definitely do this with a window open to ventilate the room. Be SURE not to drip it onto a carpet, or anything else that can't be tossed into the washing machine. While the odor is not horrible, it is unpleasant. 5) Wear something you will toss into the washing machine afterwards. The product is halfway to a gel, but is rather drippy when applying it. If you get it on your skin, wash it off right away. 6) As the directions say, you may need more than one application. But the product left my hair so soft and silky, I will happily use it again without fear of damaging my hair. Hope this helps. ... show more

    • Not a color remover!
Got this for my wife. This isn’t exactly “color remover”, it just lightens dark hair dye. Her hair was not colored at all before it was dyed burgundy red. Used this product and it turned a light brassy orange. I guess the red was gone but all the hair dye was not or it would have been back to her naturally hair color. And this product smells AWFUL!!!! ... show more

    • Smelled awful
After I bleached my blue hair there was still a lot of blue left so i ordered a two pack of this just planning to use one, the first round did basically nothing and you have to stay in the shower for so long, plus the whole bathroom and my hair smelled awful for days, so I decided to try again and it basically took out no color, I was really disappointed and I was left with stinky blue hair, definitely will not be buying again ... show more
