This machine has been an absolute lifesaver in helping alleviate pain following my total knee replacement surgery. I hadn't heard about such a device until the surgeon's office suggested I consider getting one. It runs quietly; the remote is quite handy and easy to operate; easy to fill to the cold water line, carry to where you need it and add frozen water bottles (I've been using four). The water stays really cold nearly all day; I've only needed to swap out frozen bottles 1x/day but temps here have been below 80° so far this year with few exceptions which is far less than adding ice cubes/chunks. I'd estimate it's a few inches taller than a soft-sided 6-pack cooler

This product works fantastically and is a blessing for my post op recovery. My one recommendation is to use 6-7 frozen water bottles instead of ice. Keeps water cold and is easier then constantly grabbing ice. I had an issue with the pad leaking, well the glue coming undone where the tubes meet the fabric, I contacted them directly and they instantly sent me a replacement. The customer service is amazing and extremely helpful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

During my prep operation appointment, the PA asked if I wanted to purchase an ice therapy machine through the hospital. When she shared that it would be $200.00, I almost fell off the chair. That’s when I turned to Amazon. We found this machine for a fraction of the cost of what the hospital was going to charge. We fill it with water and place frozen water bottles as an ice replacement. The insulated bag retains the ice cold water all day! I am able to ice my knee several times throughout the day without any hassle. It is comfortable and molds around my knee perfectly. The pump of the first one we ordered was dysfunctional. Sender was able to replace it immediately without any issue.

Broke my arm and shattered my elbow and 3 weeks out from surgery of 2 plates and 10 screws. Most pain I’ve ever felt in 65 years. My husband casually told me a neighbor got a cold air cuff for his rotary cuff surgery and I’d never heard of such a thing. Went on Amazon, found it, and ordered it. What a miracle. Easy to put together, easy to use, easy to clean up after each use, affordable and just magic. Really made a difference in my comfort and helped with swelling. Highly, highly recommend and tell anyone you know about this tool. It’s really designed for knees, but so easy to adapt to whole arm. Appreciate finding it on Amazon and arrived quickly. I’d give it 10 stars if I could. I’ll be using this for my fibromyalgia too.

I purchased this preparatory to knee replacement surgery, before my surgeon told me the hospital will give me a unit to take home with me. I initially intended to return this unit for a refund, but I’m glad I decided to wait until I saw what the hospital sent me home with. The one from the hospital was hard-sided, with the pump mounted centrally in the lid. It worked fine, but it was impossible to use frozen bottles of water instead of regular ice cubes with it, making it a hassle to keep it supplied. This unit easily accepts one frozen gallon jug and a bit more, making it longer lasting, less messy, and less labor intensive. I’m getting by with just two gallon jugs in total: one in the unit and one refreezing in the deep freezer. There is no substitute for cooler capacity!

UPDATE - 5 stars My device was originally not working. I contacted ICYTHRP on 7/11 at 5pm via email. They responded on 7/11 at 10:45pm that they were shipping me a new controller and power supply. Expedited at their expense. I received mid-day in Sunday, 7/13. This device works great. Fantastic customer support! I'm hoping to update this review IF the pump and remote are replaced timely. The device has not worked from the moment I set it up. I've completed all troubleshooting in the instruction book as well as on the ICYTHRP website. I am only able to get the device to work on LOW flow by disconnecting the remote from the pump, turning it on, changing the flow from the default of HIGH to LOW. Then re-connecting the remote to the pump. This is disappointing as I am recovering from ACL Reconstruction (complete tear) and double meniscus repair. The device shows great promise while running on LOW. I wish it worked as designed. I can order a new item and receive by tomorrow, but I can either wait on ICYTHRP customer support to send replacement parts (who knows how long that will take), or I can return via Amazon, wait to ship and receive a new item.

This machine has been an absolute lifesaver in helping with swelling and alleviating pain following my total knee replacement surgery. I really like it after PT! It is very quiet and the remote is easy to operate. Speaking of the remote, it has a number of setting, which appealed to me. You can set the pump to run for 10, 20 or 30 minutes, with the 10, 20 or 30 minute cut off. I do 30 minutes on and 30 minutes off at night and 20/20 after physical therapy or during the day, but you can do a combination of any of them (ie. 30/20, 20/20, 30/10, etc). The lid is zippered and easy to fill to the cold water line. I use frozen water battles to keep the water cold. The bottle last longer than ice and I only change them out a couple of times a day. The pad has a cover that protects from direct contact with the skin, but I still use a small towel under the pad. It's easy to move around, but I empty the water out when moving it. As others have said, I'd estimate it's a few inches taller than a soft-sided 6-pack cooler. I hope this helps!
