I've been coloring my hair at home for approximately 16 years, I love to experiment with different brands and colors. I used to color for change of color, now as I'm getting older I need to color to cover gray... I have prominent gray around my temples and bang area. For this latest round of coloring I went with Nice 'n Easy 5G/117- Natural Medium Golden Brown. The box was packaged with the directions, gloves, and three containers clearly labeled 1, 2, and 3. My biggest pet peeves with at home hair color are 1) the low quality gloves and 2) only receiving one pair per box. The gloves in this box were the usual low quality, right away I trashed them and retrieved two pair from my personal stash. I mixed the solution per the directions, made some parts in my hair and went to work. The first thing I noticed about the solution was that its super thin and runny...I had to clean up quite a few run-away drips. I left the dye on for the recommended time, gloving up once mid-way through to re-lather my hair. After my hair was clean from the solution I used the included conditioner for approximately 3 minutes and let my hair dry naturally. The gray coverage was top-notch, it was covered flawlessly. The color is beautiful and rich and my hair is shiny and soft. PROS: Great gray coverage, couldn't ask for any better, nice over all color CONS: Runny solution, poor quality gloves) Overall, it's a great hair color, I'll purchase again based on the gray coverage. The process was easy to follow and I ended up with a great color. I've been trying to go back to my original color of light medium brown and my stylist said that I need to start with a shade darker than my original. It took me time to get used to this new dark color but I ended up loving it I am back to the color, or close to it, that I had when I was in my 40 s and I am now getting used to a darker brow color which all looks better with my brown eyes. I'm 63 and I actually love the look. I want to grow my hair out and start using my curling iron again and have it cut into some sort of bob. I feel really good about it. The one thing I learned is that you can be very messy on your sink in your hands and your forehead and the countertop and the t-shirt you are wearing. I would try using something like Vaseline on my face to keep the color from staining my skin. You may end up with a reddish tint with it which I actually liked. I will use this again. ... show more

I usually use Garnier fructisse but the color I get was back ordered so I tried this for the first time. I think the grey coverage is better (I have only a little bit of grey on my temples) and I noticed less scalp irritation than I normally get when coloring my hair. Will buy again.
