I am writing this review several months after purchase. When the chicken coop and run area arrived it was winter, so we put it together and left my chicken in it in the garage so she wouldn’t get cold. (I put a tarp under the run area with wood shavings.) I thought it was so cute and sturdy enough, but I wouldn’t have trusted it to keep predators out because it is flimsy made. At the end of February, we put the empty coop outside because my chicken died. After a couple months, I noticed the roof no longer looked the way it did in the garage. The weather caused it to begin sinking in - just like it didn’t have a firm foundation under it. It’s now been outside for 5 months and it looks pretty bad. The material on the top of the run area is beginning to tear away from the frame, the hinges are rusting, the paint has faded and basically worn away in places, the coop has some water inside the housing part… This coop, from my experience, will last about 6 months before it begins to wear down and deteriorate, a predator could easily get inside now just by slightly pulling at the torn areas that began to tear just from weather. In my opinion, cute chicken coop and run area but not for outside weather exposure. Maybe if I had a huge covered area to put it in, but that’s not what it’s for. I did like the way I could pick up one end and move the coop and run area around but it’s just not sturdy enough to last outside for long. Weather in the Nashville TN area is not that harsh, so this coop should not be in the condition it is after being outside for 5 months. Cute, easy to move around, but the rest is disappointing, and I would not buy this again. ... show more

    • Not worth the money I paid.

This is not made very well. Some pieces of wood where the latches are attached are split. One of the latch pieces fell off in the box. Some of the wood looks like cardboard that has been painted. If I didn’t need it, and wasn’t such a pain to send back, I would get a refund. But I am going to fix it the best I can and use it. ... show more

Here’s the deal folks! You get what you pay for but this isn’t one of those multi thousand dollar coops so would that being said, the coop comes with primer paint so you will need to paint the entire coop. The wood panels are very thin so if you have colder weather where you live, you’re going to need to insulate this coop for your ladies. I bought a solar door to protect them against predators(I control via WiFi) and that actually fit right into the existing cut out, which was very nice. It’s a good way to get started but if you don’t fortify this coop, it will not last long. ... show more

This coop is very cute , perfect for chicks or bantams except it is not safe or secure the ramp leads to the nesting box and roost and it is wide open. There is door to lock them in at night and unless you modify it there is no way to secure a door to it. The ramp has an opening and the side does as well. So be prepared to have to buy plywood to enclose it . And because of the run it will be very difficult to close it at night if you are able to modify it. I would say the price is to high for this since you have to do an immediate modification ... show more

The coop came in a very flimsy box and we opened it and the wood doesn't match the pictures. It's unstained wood so we have to paint it. Assembly has been pretty simple thus far and seems to be pretty decent quality.

Cheaply made… box came damaged and the wood was split taking it out of the box… I can’t imagine put together it keeping chickens or any animal safe. It also isn’t fully enclosed the ramp leads into the enclosed but never buttons up. Not something explained or obvious in the description.

    • Wood splits, swells in rain, wire on inside not outside

The wood is so thin it splits so we can use the little doors & I don’t think it’d weather treated, it swells & larger doors won’t open. The wire is stapled on the inside so predators can push though & it’s too small for even two regular hens. Just buy a kennel & diy.
