I live in the Pacific Northwest and my biggest challenge is finding a coop that can withstand constant rainfall without getting the bedding wet. This metal coop has a sloped, waterproof cover that channels water away perfectly, and mesh walls that prevent condensation from building up. Even after weeks of light rain, the interior stays dry and my hens' respiratory problems (common in wet coops) disappear. I reinforced the edges of the cover with PVC clips when storms hit, but the original straps worked just fine in 30 mph winds. The galvanised steel has not rusted after 14 months of use, unlike my previous coop hinges which rusted. The raised floor keeps the chickens out of the mud and I added a tarpaulin skirt for extra splash protection. In wet climates, a coop like this is worth every penny. Just make sure the roof is pitched away from prevailing winds! ... show more
