3/25: Updating, I’m upping from 4-stars to 5. I’m very happy with it. The unit consumes 900watts and if you’re offgrid like me with a 12v system that’s a little over 70amps @ 13.5v. I’m driving it with a 1500w GoPower inverter which has no problems with it at all, but anything bigger than this unit would be too taxing for my system and the inverter. Living offgrid often means compromising and it’s very nice to have this little unit for occasional treats. After using it a few times now I think the fan might be getting louder. Time will tell. So far I’ve only made buffalo wings in it, pretty big ones. I overloaded it the first time and they were a little burned on top and the fats not rendered out. The next time I put fewer wings in it, these are big wings and with 4 of them it did a nice job set at 300º for 20 min. Next time I’ll make it 30min and turn them after 15 - these are really fatty wings. I appreciate the simple controls. I hate digital ones because that’s usually the part that fails. The temp dial on this is surely a simple bi-metallic mechanical adjustment and the timer is a mechanical one with a on-off power switch in it. The only fiddly thing is the four rubber bumpers on the drop-in tray that keep it from scratching the sides of the basket. These come off easily when washing it so take care not to lose them. I don’t know if the spacing from the bottom will be correct without them. original: All consumer goods are supposed to have a tag somewhere that identifies the voltage and wattage or amps a device uses. This unit doesn’t have one and there’s no manual in the box so I have to trust the listing here that it’s actually 1000 watts. I bought it used/refurbished for a good price so maybe the manual was just left out. The outer carton was beat up but the packing and unit itself were fine. I have not tried using it because I need solar to run it and I didn’t pick it up until late today. ... show more

    • A nice little air fryer for my small kitchen
My kitchen has pretty lousy wiring so I was limited to a low-wattage air fryer. I ended up picking up an older brother to this model during a Black Friday sale, but I made the mistake one day of holding it by the basket handle while carrying it back to its home on top of the fridge. Oops. The fall broke the fan, so I ordered this as a last-minute replacement since it's the same company and the same size. There are a couple of minor differences with the timer and temperature controls, but it's basically the same unit. As it turns out, it's the same exact basket, so now I have a spare. Having a smaller air fryer limits what you can do, but I've been able to reheat leftover fried food and chicken wings in it to great success, make quick steak tips, make pretzel nuggets out of leftover pizza dough, mac & cheese bites, frozen blintzes, and more. It's great at small steaks in particular; it can handle a 6 oz. serving quite nicely and does even better when that steak is cut up into tips. It can do a small calzone as well, but definitely use a thin-crust dough. It's become a welcome addition to my kitchen, and I learned my lesson not to carry it by the basket handle anymore. The grill pan inside the basket is relatively easy to clean (I don't have a dishwasher). and so is the basket. When the unit was new, there was a lot of that typical nasty Chinese plastic smell, but it dissipated very quickly with use—especially after thoroughly washing the basket several times. I don't get that smell anymore. Per the instructions I've never sprayed cooking spray directly into the basket or onto the grill pan, but I've used it on the food itself as appropriate. The only real downside to this unit, apart from the size being a bit of a limiting factor (understandably so), is the timer. You can't really get fine control on the timer, so I overshoot the mark by several minutes and just use a digital timer to keep track of when to take the food out. ... show more

Easy to use. Decent compact size. Cooks very well. Doesn't hold too much and the bigger the meat the longer it takes. Steak and salmon bites comes out well

Very happy with this product. It works just as you’d hope and is so easy to clean. The heat is even and the fryer functions work smoothly. I’ve only worked chicken tenders so far. I marinate them for a few hours prior. Delicious.

I purchased this as a gift for a friend. Unfortunately, the gift was not well received as my friend was very intimidated to learn a new way of cooking. She told me I needed to return it but I talked her into trying it and several days later, she called me to tell me she just made the most delicious chicken breast she's ever had. I'm guessing this means she overcame her fear of new things and is enjoying her new air fryer. Knowing how this friend reacts to change or new things, I was attracted to this little unit because it was very simple to operate and small enough for tiny apartment kitchens. I can't really give a true rating because it was purchased for a friend. I do like the simplicity of this unit and the fact that it all goes in the dishwasher.
