Fairly easy install. I had some issues with my doorbell wires coming out of the wall, but that wasn’t Ring’s fault. Functionality and picture quality is great. I researched pretty much every model of doorbell camera for sale before buying this one, and I’m satisfied with my purchase. I would suggest that if you want more cameras around the house that when you do your research factor that in and compare not only the specs of the cameras but the pricing of the plans for working on all of your devices. For me, I think Ring made the most sense. I work in law enforcement and I had seen first hand that people with Ring can get their videos to me quickly and easily and they’re decent enough quality usually.

I have not had issues with this, despite it being a refurbished unit. Everything was in order in the installation package and I got it wired up very easily in a new door installation with existing original wiring. I did have an issue with the in-home chime device that you hook up to your mechanical doorbell in order for it to ring, as it stopped working after a week. Otherwise, the main device itself has been reliable and has only had one issue after almost a year of ownership with a random disconnect that was resolved with a remote reset.

Perfect replacement for an older Ring camera. I am glad it even uses the same distance for mounting holes. I didn't even have to drill again. Worked without any hitch, setup was a breeze. This camera is much better too - higher clarity, faster and the zone setup options are much better. Great deal!

what to expect from high def video, great clarity, I got this refurbish from amazon and it works like new and no scratch. sound quality is good, night vision and connectivity all function really well. refurbish is the definitely value for the money. unless they do promo for a brand new one.

I know that one star review is pretty harsh but the process of installation has made this product absolutely not worth the price. We have an older house that had an existing doorbell system that ran between 10-16 volts. We had an older model ring that stopped working due to a few very cold days and backup battery drain. It was a great device while it lasted. I “upgraded” to this. After not being able to get the required power needed we switched out the doorbell transformer getting us up to a steady 16.4 volts. The new doorbell still didn’t work. It would cut on and off continuously. Sometimes no light, sometimes a red light and sometimes a blue flashing light. I call an electrician who spends two hours running down everything that could be causing the issue and finding that there always nothing wrong with the wiring. So now I have spent several hundred dollars and still have no working doorbell camera. Ring technical support has been no help and has offered no solution since telling me to get a licensed electrician. What a waste!

Wife gave this to me as a gift. Works very well, Ring app has lots of excellent options. Can connect to Amazon Alexa to answer the door from Amazon show in kitchen or basement. HOWEVER, you will need to purchase a subscription ($36 per year) to store and retreat videos later. AND, physical installation was not hard, figuring out how to connect it to Alexa was very difficult. If you follow the install/Alexa sync instructions and it doesn’t work, try rebooting both apps/devices including your phone a few times and waiting. PS: A comment about Amazon sidewalk: we originally turned this off on all our echo devices due to privacy concerns. Now two years later, the privacy seems to be adequate and we have found the neighborhood connectivity/messages for collaborative problem solving to be very helpful. Lost pets, missing packages, porch piracy, security alerts, etc. Just make sure that you change your settings to set the range to as small as possible, so you only get messages within a half mile of your house instead of 4 miles away.

I feel this is one of the better smart doorbell options out there. There's definitely been a good amount of R&D put into this product and ecosystem. Everything works well together with RING / ALEXA and my digital doorbell/transformer setup. I followed the instructions for installing and it was very straightforward. My only hiccup was needing to set the doorbell duration so that my digital doorbell dirn't ring multiple time.s A few days after installing I initially had a day where it said my voltage was low on my transformer. I've since disabled the night vision mode and have not had the problem return. I may swap out my transformer and turn that feature back on but my front door is well lit so it's not a big deal for me and no more voltage issues. The WiFi coverage in my home is decent and haven't had any dropouts. On a busy holiday (10/31) I did encounter an issue where the doorbell lost connection (or something) and it caused our internal doorbell to ring many times. It hasn't done this any other day/time so maybe there was a glitch in the cloud internet coverage that day? Overall I like the way this works and has been reasonably reliable. I'm not trusting it for security purposes but as a smart doorbell to alert me when folks are arriving and being able to see who's outside it does a very good job. If I was going to use this for surveillance reasons it should include a microsd / local recording option. I know about the Ring hub plans with local recording, so it is potentially there but still subject to WiFi interference so a local storage card would be much preferred upgrade. They could enable it with active subscription to keep folks incentivized to subscribe and I'd still find it nice to have that local backup. Side note: This kit said it included a free faceplate after purchase but I never got an email with a code. I was able to get a hold of ring support and they sent me out the faceplate as advertised but it did require contacting customer service.
