This has been a great by. It was quite easy to install and with a Scosche installation kit purchased separately, it looks like it was a factory install. The sound quality and output is surprisingly good without an Amp. That may be added later, but, not needed. This has wired Android Auto and/or Apple Carplay and is very reliable. I took-on the extremely difficult DIY task of replacing the original "Uconnect" factory stereo in a Fiat 500e, and chose this Kenwood for its relative simplicity, reasonable cost, and purported reliability. I will say that the process of trying to figure-out the steps and parts I needed to accomplish the replacement was daunting, and buffeted by a couple failures. But I got it, with full integration of steering wheel and other dashboard controls. Overall the stereo is fine -- it does its job, seeming to have zero issues negotiating with the iDatalink Maestro unit that negotiates between it and the car's CAN bus interface. The sound is good. The interface is "okay" in the sense that it is responsive, functional, and not terribly confusing. But it leaves something to be desired, that's for sure. Connectivity seems to be alright, too. Bluetooth connection to my Pixel 8a phone is achieved almost instantly and seems to be rock solid. I had some "weird" issues getting the wired Android Auto connection up and running, but once established it does seem to work well. I've had a couple instances, however, where it seems I did something that caused the music to suddenly stop, or the connection to be lost, and I'm not quite sure what that something may've been. This is honestly not a huge deal for me since I don't even necessarily care if Android Auto doesn't work. I'm perfectly content to play music via Bluetooth and navigate by my phone's screen. Which perhaps seems a bit odd, having purchased a large screen stereo with Android Auto capabilities. But I reasoned that the price difference was small enough that I may as well go ahead with the install of something modern and full-screen. Regarding that display, I find it interesting that the resolution is not great. My phone is better by far. The design of the interface and controls, too, is oddly clunky and at least two decades out of date. For the price paid, it's fine and wouldn't expect anything significantly different or better from other makers.

Cons: There’s a few things that’s annoying. There’s a disclaimer that pops up every time on power. Powers on when I open the doors on my vehicle even though it shouldn’t. Not sure where it’s pulling power. It is wired correctly. Those are my only gripes. Pros: price point, sound quality, gps, apple and android carplay, plenty of power. Others but I’m to lazy to type it out.

Installed in a 2002 Silverado 2500 HD with a full gauge cluster bezel that I bought from crutchfield. This thing is great except I didn’t realize how much it sucks not having physical buttons for things like changing actual radio stations. When you hook up to car play you can’t use your radio and navigation app you gotta, have written permission from congress and step by step instructions to get back to the radio to change the station. You can use IHeart radio or something like that but you even then I can’t get all the local stations I want. I use 9 presets here in Houston for the different stations I like to go between. So physical buttons for radio or being able to use the radio while in car play mode would be great. That being said, I have a 5 channel amp so I don’t use the on board amp which has an on off option that I keep off. It’s either one or the other. So it diverts the sound sig al to your amp or to its own amp so you couldn’t use both if you wanted to for some reason. This doesn’t bother me. For sound quality this thing is amazing. You can do whatever you want with this thing. Everything is adjustable. Loudness, woofer output, gain, high pass and low pass settings, speaker size settings, you name it it’s got it. The screen is good and the display is also good. I like this unit except for the radio and no buttons.

At first glance this just looked like a minimalistic double din screen radio with a very short single din chassis. But it mounted up perfectly in a double din slot and had all the features my son needed. It was even 6 channel so it ran all four mid and high channels and both sub channels. This radio worked well with his factory speakers but really came alive with with amps, fosgate mids and highs and punch subs. Plus its a Kenwood!
