My husband and I have had a wide variety from low to mid-range fitness and strength products over the years, so when he wanted a lower-priced Oly barbell, we thought of Cap as our experiences have overall been good with them for over 25 years. We have found that sometimes their chromed equipment has sharp edges or flakes, so we went with the 60in, Solid Bar, Black. My husband is lifting 300 pounds max - usually less - and I'm lifting 100 or under, so this bar seemed good. And it is just what we wanted. It's lighter than an official bar but heavier than a 1-inch standard bar, the black finish is attractive with no flaking or sharp edges at all. The knurling is comfortable and grippy. The sleeves don't stick, and while I don't think they have bearings or bushings, for this price, we weren't expecting any. The black finish is coming off of the sleeves in a couple small places, but for the price, we expected that. We're using it almost daily, with and without a small rack, and are completely satisfied. This is a budget-priced all-solid bar, so we didn't expect an Ohio Power Bar or something like that. We bought this bar as it will work for our needs and costs around 1/4 of the price of a value bar and about 1/8th of a price or less of a high end bar, but we don't need a high end bar. And to bring a solid bar in at this price range, there are going to be compromises, but we knew that going in. Overall if you don't want to spend too much money but don't want a hollow barbell, this is a solid option. We're getting a lot of use out of it, and plan to keep using it for years to come. ... show more

I've been using this bar 3-4 times a week for three years now. It is holding up well -- some of the paint / finish has started flaking off, but I don't mind as it hasn't affected my use at all. 5 foot bar can easily fit enough weight for my needs -- I use it in my tiny basement home gym. No complaints what so ever. I started getting back into fitness and I found this item as a great option. I'm not yet able to deadlift or squat the weight I use to so I don't know how this will hold up but I'm sure it'll do fine. So far 250lbs is easy work for this stubborn barbell.

I am a fan of CAP barbell equipment. I own a CAP power rack, a set of CAP Olympic plates and this 7' CAP barbell. This is a decent barbell in the value category of barbells. The barbell does everything that I need it to do. The knurling on the barbell is fairly passive. I would generally prefer a slightly more aggressive knurling, however, this is adequate. For me, there is nothing not to like about this barbell. It will do more than I need it to do and the price was certainly extremely competitive for the quality of the product. ... show more

Getting back into a regular workout routine & using my home gym. Our 7ft (45#) barbell was just too much for me to handle & my coach/trainer recommended this one in the 5 ft / 25#. It fits well on my rack & I already had the plates, etc. needed which fit great. The finish is great on it. I don't have any issues handling it or adding plates to it. The end clamps just need a little extra wiggling but they way better on this bar vs the old one. Time will tell how it holds up with rust & durability but so far, it's great.
