Description

The CAP 5-Foot Solid Olympic Bar in Black is constructed from high-quality solid cold rolled steel with a black powder coat finish and is designed for balance and long-lasting performance. This bar features medium-depth diamond knurled handgrips giving the user a secure, non-slip grip when going heavy. The length between the sleeves measures 37” and has a 28mm handgrip diameter. Each sleeve has a loadable length of 9.75” to accommodate Olympic weight plates with a 2-inch center hole. The sleeves with bushings are designed to rotate, reducing pressure on the forearms and wrists. Made to be compact in length, this bar is a perfect addition to your home gym. Bar is made with 63,800 PSI tensile strength steel with 13 inch knurled griping areas per side. The compact design of this bar makes it perfect for a home gym. My husband and I have had a wide variety from low to mid-range fitness and strength products over the years, so when he wanted a lower-priced Oly barbell, we thought of Cap as our experiences have overall been good with them for over 25 years. We have found that sometimes their chromed equipment has sharp edges or flakes, so we went with the 60in, Solid Bar, Black. My husband is lifting 300 pounds max - usually less - and I'm lifting 100 or under, so this bar seemed good. And it is just what we wanted. It's lighter than an official bar but heavier than a 1-inch standard bar, the black finish is attractive with no flaking or sharp edges at all. The knurling is comfortable and grippy. The sleeves don't stick, and while I don't think they have bearings or bushings, for this price, we weren't expecting any. The black finish is coming off of the sleeves in a couple small places, but for the price, we expected that. We're using it almost daily, with and without a small rack, and are completely satisfied. This is a budget-priced all-solid bar, so we didn't expect an Ohio Power Bar or something like that. We bought this bar as it will work for our needs and costs around 1/4 of the price of a value bar and about 1/8th of a price or less of a high end bar, but we don't need a high end bar. And to bring a solid bar in at this price range, there are going to be compromises, but we knew that going in. Overall if you don't want to spend too much money but don't want a hollow barbell, this is a solid option. We're getting a lot of use out of it, and plan to keep using it for years to come. ... show more

Well made heavy black bar, five foot long , 1 1/4 inch knurled grip bar and 2 inch Olympic Ends. Arrived in mint condition, even though the box it was packed in was beat up between shippers. Feels good to grip. Wear gloves if don’t like the knurling. Very happy with this purchase.

Although Amazon completely destroyed one end of the cardboard box the bar was undamaged, which indicates good protective packaging. The chrome finish is very clean and smooth, and the knurling on the bar feels just right with and without gloves. The 28mm size feels substantial but not oversized. This bar is actually round. I have another Olympic bar (not Cap brand) that came as part of a complete set, and you can feel several flat spots around the circumference of the bar. When spinning the new bar inside the bearings with no load there is some squeaking, and I'll probably disassemble and lubricate it. Otherwise, there is no excessive play in the parts. Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase. It looks and feels like a high end bar but without the high end price. I have a small workout space and the 5' length is perfect for dead lifts, freeing up my 7' bar to become a permanent home on the bench. ... show more

This is a great bar for the $. I bought it to complete my home gym & in case I wanted to add some light weight to my squat routine. I am a beginner, so I didn’t want to spend a ton of $. It arrived on time and the metal was a little scuffed up in one place (not where hands or weights go, so an cosmetic issue really) and one of the plastic end caps was broken (they are used just for shipping i think?) but the c clip, bushings and ends were in perfect condition. Getting back into a regular workout routine & using my home gym. Our 7ft (45#) barbell was just too much for me to handle & my coach/trainer recommended this one in the 5 ft / 25#. It fits well on my rack & I already had the plates, etc. needed which fit great. The finish is great on it. I don't have any issues handling it or adding plates to it. The end clamps just need a little extra wiggling but they way better on this bar vs the old one. Time will tell how it holds up with rust & durability but so far, it's great. This 5ft barbell is perfect for my bedroom “gym”. It slides under my bed and fits perfectly with some weights stored next to it. This bar is NOT meant for a bench system. The shaft is just too narrow. The middle shaft is 32.5”. The full bar length is 60”. This is perfect for at home workouts but not anything requiring a rack/ bench. It’s a compact bar, not a rackable bar. Regardless, it fits my needs perfectly. I can do squats, presses, thrusts, so much more with it. It’s a huge upgrade from my kettlebell. It’s sturdy, the grip is perfect, and it came with no scratches or anything. It is 2” thick on the ends for Olympic plates. Overall I would recommend it if looking for a compact bar, not a rackable bar. ... show more
