I purchased a set of four 5 lb plates and two 10 lb plates to supplement my current collection, which starts at 20 lbs. These smaller plates are perfect for making gradual progress, especially when heavier jumps aren’t doable for me. While weight plates are a fairly straightforward product, I was impressed enough to leave a review because of the excellent packaging. Each plate was individually sealed in plastic, separated by foam sheets to prevent any scuffing between the plates, and cushioned on all corners with thick foam blocks. The entire set was double boxed and tightly secured with straps. Good quality and attention to detail in packaging! The plates themselves look great—clean, evenly coated, and well finished. And considering how pricey weight plates can be, I found the pricing to be very reasonable. I’ll definitely return to CAP Barbell for future weight purchases as my training progresses. ... show more

It does its job. It's literally weights. I'm not a professional bodybuilder or a powerlifter but I do want to increase weight on my barbell to gain more strength. I've always bought different weights in my past life since I was a teen all the way to my late 20s now to my mid-30s. I've purchased a variety of brands from waider, Rogue, troy, standard, and so on. I bought two and they are almost the same weight as my York Olympic 45 plates. If you want to be a douchey bro tip specific perfectionist guy, it is not literally 45 pounds. It's mostly between 44.75 or 45.25 pounds but it does its job you really won't know the difference. would not recommend it for power cleans (prefer bumper plates) it gets clunky and it starts beating off the clamps. I'm not competing in any tournament it's just for home gym equipment. It does its job and it haves 3 handles for other training if you're not using a barbell like deltoid or traps exercises. I keep my gym outside in my yard yard. I left them out in the rain for a month or two and still haven't had any rust If you're wondering about resistance against the elements. It has a good coat of paint if I ever want to resell it. I already have four of them. I will continue buy more if I need more. But so far it's good and resourceful. Cap Barbell 45 lb Olympic plate review You may have noticed that 45 lb Olympic plates are hard to find anywhere these days, particularly for a decent price. These plates cost a bit more than I wanted to pay, but since everyone knows that just owning 45 lb plates makes you more swole, I knew that if I ordered 2 more plates I would be twice as swole as I already am (see profile pic). I went ahead and ordered them. They arrived today. I helped the UPS driver carry them up onto my porch and then I opened the boxes. Wow. Not only are they big and grey, they also came with these cool paper stick-on labels that say “Made in China”. I took the labels off to save in case my friends don’t believe where my nifty new plates came from. There were a few sharp/ rough spots on each plate which I removed with a small file. I don’t have the papers on the file anymore but I believe it too was made in China. Talk about serendipity. It’s almost like the file and the plates were made for each other and destined to come together again in a far off carport. Anyway I got the rough spots knocked down and tried out the plates. They fit the bar and are actually closer to official Olympic size than the Fitness Gear plates I bought at Dick’s last year before civilization ended and the virus whose origin we’re not sposta talk about shut down the gyms and a lotta brains. As I put all the full size plates on the bar in my carport, I could feel the swoleness increasing. I grunted loudly and my neighbor looked even more irritated (or was it jealous?) than usual. I cannot recommend this product highly enough for people who want to Get Swole Now. Just don’t forget the file..... ... show more

    • Not standard diameter for 45lb plates...if you care
This review is for the 45lb plates Buyer: be aware that the standard IPF and IWF regulation diameter for 45lb plates is about 17 3/4 inch (450mm). I didn’t think to check before ordering these but these are 16 3/4 inch. Since you wouldn’t want to use these plates for Olympic lifts, this really only matters if you plan to deadlift with them...so it it really bothered you you could just build 1/2” blocks to pull from. For the value, so far, I think these plates are great. My pair of 45lb plates both weigh in at 43.8lb, which I’m very happy with given that these are not calibrated plates and they’re so cheap. The handle slots are very nice, mine are smooth and comfortable to grab. (I have a pair of 10lb plates and those are jagged and sharp...but they’re 10lbs....so it doesn’t matter that much to me). Overall I’m happy with these and plan to order more. ... show more

Good reviews and a few bad reviews, what do you do? That was my question on purchasing these 45's. First, I always read reviews, so thank you to everyone who reviewed these, both good and bad. I like all good reviews really before spending money on stuff, but it isn't a perfect world and sometimes we have to gamble on these kinds of things. I lucked out with the price of $36 a piece on these first off. Second, they were sold from Amazon so I figured not too much risk if they were bad. Third, they were just perfect for me. I see no real problems and as far as weight inconsistency, well, I just lifted them and they do not seem imbalanced. I would't swear on it, but if they are off then my brain must be compensating well. I have no doubt that others have had a problem with the two weights being of different weight and that is certainly a problem, but I didn't have this problem luckily. I also did not have a problem with the hole needing ground down so that was nice too. Since a few people did have these problems then I know it is possible, so that is why I called this a gamble. I did well, both with price and product so I hope that the company who makes these keeps an eye on quality control because it truly is unacceptable to expect people to buy weights that are not made properly. A few pounds makes a difference when lifting weights, especially heavy. In all honesty if these were not sold by Amazon I would have shied away from these even though I got them for a great buy. These worked out fine for me so maybe the problems have been taken care of, or at least I hope so for other people's sake. This was definitely a great buy. ... show more
