  • Highly satisfied. Fast, clean wireless prints with excellent color for small business.
Received the MF733CDW four days ago and have run it through its paces. This all-in-one printer was an upgrade to an older Brother all-in-one monochrome laser printer that is still going strong in a home office, but lacked color and wireless printing. I also purchased but returned a Ricoh all-in-one color laser that was not fully Mac compatible. The Canon MF733CDW setup was easy on our Mac based wifi network. Just need to know your SSID (network name) and Network Key (WiFi password). Everything is done from the control panel by following the easy prompts. It only took 15 minutes including unboxing and fax set up. Black and color prints are fast with high quality from Mac Pro, Macbook Pro, iPad Air 2 and iPhone X. This is not for high quality photos, but very good to excellent color as a business printer. Adobe Illustrator, MS Word and PDFs files all look great, including clean small text. Copier quality is great from magazine and books. The platen is small, but suitable for letter, legal size and most magazines. Envelope printing is great using the manual feed. Was able to load three at a time. Document feeding for scans and copies was also easy and fast, but I have not tried all the duplexing options yet. Overall, highly satisfied with no complaints. I will update this review if I run into any issues through normal usage. ... show more

  • Perfect Printer
I bought the Color imageCLASS MF733Cdw on November 13, 2018 and received it on November 15, 2018, and am satisfied with the purchase I made. Separating the box from the printer was easy to do. I was able to lift the multi-function printer from the packing materials and on to the printer cart. The setup procedures was easy to do except connecting the MF733Cdw on the network, because I have been unfamiliar with connecting peripherals on the WiFi network. I had to call Verizon to obtain my network name and the password. Once I learned them, then it was easy to connect the MF733Cdw to the network. Installing the software from the DVD to the computer was easy. Printing was flawless. The print quality is excellent. Text output is outstanding. Some pictures print amazingly clear. In case a toner cartridge becomes low on toner, that toner cartridge is easy to replace. Even a user who is less technology savvy can open the door, slide the cartridges tray backward and lift up the cartridge with ease and finesse. Canon products are dependable and reliable. I expect the imageCLASS MF733Cdw to last for many years to come. Canon Color imageCLASS MF733Cdw is a multi-function color laser printer that is best suitable for an office department or for a home office that needs colored documents on demand. The Color imageCLASS MF733Cdw is able to print monochrome and color documents, do duplex printing (able to print on both sides of the paper), scan to computer, copy documents and facsimile. Opening the printer box was easy. Removing the printer from the packing materials and plastic wrap was easy too. Fortunate for me, I was able to lift the 50-pound printer on to the printer stand. Then I had to plug in the power cord to the printer and an available socket on a power surge protector. Connecting the MF733Cdw on the network took more time than any other task because I am unfamiliar with the local area network. A communications technician told me where to find the name and the password of the network. I was able to touch-screen that data and the MF733Cdw was on the network. Print quality is wonderful. On laser paper, the print looks very attractive. Scanned images look very good. Canon has a fine reputation of producing printers that print high-quality documents and some photographs. The Color imageCLASS MF733Cdw is a replacement for my Dell MFP H825cdw multi-function color laser printer I had more than a year until it was stopped working in October 2018. Perhaps it is not yet rated Editor's Choice or Best Buy by any publisher, the Canon Color imageCLASS MF733Cdw is a keeper like the computer for many years to come. ... show more

  • I wanted to like it, but poor text scan quality and slow first print start time makes me crazy!
Our small law office has had this printer about six months. We have a long time (very expensive) lease on a large efficient, privately serviced copy machine whose lease is coming to an end, which it was intended to replace. so maybe I’m spoiled, but this copier/scanner/printer makes me crazy. First, it’s heavy and difficult to get out of the box yourself. I was surprised by how large it is ( probably three times the size of the last multifunction unit I owned 10 years ago, which was a Brother). If space is a concern, read the dimensions carefully. It does print color pictures well. The image quality for prints and copies, especially of photos, is higher than most I would say. I also love that it air prints from your phone or iPad effortlessly, with no real set up required. My chief complaints are these: 1)it is literally almost a full minute from the time you hit print until the first page comes out. Often the machine does nothing for long enough that you start to wonder if you really hit “print” but about 30 seconds into your wait, the machine makes a grinding sound, then stops, grinds again, stops does this sometimes 3-4!times and then finally spits out the page after WAY more time than I consider reasonable. It’s about that time you realize that it is printing on both sides of the page (generally a no-no in the legal profession), which is its default setting. I tried have several times to reset it so the default is NOT print in duplex but it won’t hold that change (perhaps it’s because I’m printing from different computers and those all need to be overridden, but I feel like I have done that on them all by now. On other occasions, after the minute of grinding and moaning, the machine simply stops and then flashes an error sign as it’s trying to pull a paper tray that literally does not exist. It believes the nonexistent paper tray is empty (I only have one paper tray and it has been completely full every time I’ve got this error message. It’s just trying to pull from a nonexistent tray) . I have to go and override it and tell it to pull from tray 1 —the only tray that exists. This is not a default I have set up, nor have I selected ANY paper tray at all (Because DUH I just have the one paper tray, there should be nothing to select). In short, it’s very cumbersome and time-consuming just to get a single page to print correctly and many times I have folks waiting in my office for the print out and I look like an idiot trying to make it work. 2) although the scan quality for photos is phenomenal, the scan quality for text ( which is what I am scanning 99% of the time ) is terrible. It is a such low quality one court I tried to submit it to rejected my filing and I had to rescan on a different machine and resubmit. I was not scanning an old document or anything of that nature, it was just a document I had printed on this machine and then scanned. I’ve tried adjusting the resolution all the way up to the max and it didn’t make a difference. Copying can be done but it jams too often for me to want to use it to copy much of anything. I’m a fifty-something lawyer, very tech savvy, and I maintain the servers for our firm, I’ve probably purchased 40 printers over the last 15 years or office, some of them multifunction, and this functions more poorly than any I can remember. The price wasn’t crazy and maybe my expectations should’ve been lower at that price point, but based on the reviews, I thought this would be sufficient for our needs but I can’t make it work. I don’t know if this is how it’s supposed to function or if perhaps I just got a dud or a refurb (though it appeared new) with some weird defaults carrying over, or has some issue that’s keeping it from printing properly. I’m going to offer it to a few college students for free and after much research I’m ordering a RICOH SP C360SFNw. Our longtime leased copier is a RICOH and we’ve had great luck with that brand for 6 years, so I’m crossing my fingers and hoping for better. ... show more
