  • Works on a Dometic/Atwood RV water heater
Style: Water Heater Drain Plugs and Wrench Kit
My travel trailer, a Coachmen Freedom Express 192RBS, came with a Dometic/Atwood hot water heater. The design layout of the hot water heater is really crummy in that it makes it really hard to access the drain plug to remove the water from the tank at the end of the season. The 15/16" drain plug is blocked by other associated hardware, making traditional wrenches unable to access the plug. Even with this wrench it was initially hard to turn the plug. With the angled design I was able to get it to the plug, but at first I could only turn the plug a few degrees. I thought I would be forced to make many micro-turns to get the plug unscrewed, however I discovered that by angling the wrench even more, so that the bottom part of the wrench was placed on the rear of the plug and the top on the outer side, I could get the wrench past the main obstruction and remove the plug faster. Four stars for the wrench. The replacement plugs I didn't use nor review. They look pretty cheap though, so if my OEM plug wears out I'll almost certainly buy that separately. The Teflon tape for the threads is a nice touch; that helps prevent leaking once the plug is reinstalled in the spring. As with all plumber's tape, however, make sure you wrap it around the threads in the proper direction so as the plug is screwed in, the end of the tape isn't being unwound by the direction of rotation. ... show more

  • Works Well
Style: Water Heater Drain Plugs and Wrench Kit
This wrench works well on my 6-gallon Atwood electric/gas water heater in my Grand Design Imagine RV. Much better than a crescent wrench. Not as easy as a socket with extension. But definitely does the job. It takes about 5 - 6 re-grips on the plug to loosen it, since space limitations only allow about 1/6th turn at a time. The stock plug had a 15/16" hex head. The two included spare plugs have a 7/8" hex head. The wrench works with both sizes. I think the stock plug will last a long time before needed the spare plugs, but it's good to have the spares. Good little tool to keep with the RV. ... show more

  • Don't tighten to much
Style: Standard Replacement Drain Plugs
Work fine, but they are just plastic. Seem to get welded in after they have been installed for a week or so. The head twists off them you have to drill, and scrape the damn thing out. These are my last plastic ones I'll buy. One is gone after six months, when the other one goes I'm getting a brass plug. ... show more

  • Good replacement for OE.
Style: Water Heater Drain Plugs and Wrench Kit
This thread fit my 6gal Atwood camper water heater. The only difference was the OE plug was 1" and this replacement is 15/16". No leaks.

  • The shape of the wrench made it very easy to reach (and change) the drain plug
Style: Water Heater Drain Plugs and Wrench Kit
Worked perfectly. The shape of the wrench made it very easy to reach (and change) the drain plug. The kit came with a very small roll of plumbers tape, but that is not an issue because it is something that is readily available at any big-box or hardware store. Keep in mind that the kit has plenty of tape to do two or three changes. The wrench is double ended.... one end being 15/16 and the other 7/8. The factory plug on my camper was a 15/16's and the kit came with two 7/8's plugs. The thread size of course is the same, and the only difference is on the head/shoulders of the plug. This is a great item to carry with you when out on a camping trip (just in case). It will also come in quite handy when it is time to flush clean and winterize your rig. Hope I've covered everything but if not I am open to any questions you may have. ... show more

  • Makes winterizing and decalsifying an RV water heater easy
Style: Water Heater Drain Plugs and Wrench Kit
Like that this product makes it easy to remove or tighten the water heater plug on your RV with the wrench designed to work in tight spaces . The plugs replace the original one and comes with the teflon tape to guarantee a leak free installation. Great value and durability for this product. Would buy again but will probably never damage the head of the plug with the wrench so should not need a replacement anytime soon. ... show more

  • The tool is not compatible with the 6 Gal Atwood Water Heater on our 2016 Jayco
Style: Water Heater Drain Plugs and Wrench Kit
I was hoping use and keep this tool stored in the heater compartment and save me from having to pull out my socket set every trip, but it did not work out. The tool is not compatible with the 6 Gal Atwood Water Heater on our 2016 Jayco. The size and shape of the tool will not allow me to access and turn the drain valve no matter what way I try. If your water heater looks like ours and can be accessed with a regular socket, stick with the socket. Can't knock the tool too bad because it probably works great for other RV heaters where the plug is in a different location. Happy camping and don't forget to click the helpful button ;) Thanks. ... show more

  • Just what the doctor ordered
Style: Water Heater Drain Plugs and Wrench Kit
when we bought our RV the previous owner had broken off the water heater plug. They had taken to using a boat plug to plug the hole. However, when we would run the water heater too long (more than 45 minutes or so) the pressure would build up and push the plug out, draining most of our hot water. We found ourselves setting timers and trying to find the "sweet spot" where the water would be hot but the plug wouldn't pop out. Finally I was able to look at an angle that showed me the real problem. Once I figured out why they were using a boat plug and able to get the original broken water heater plug out of the hole. We were able to screw this right in and have regular hot water! ... show more
