It's a shame you can't buy the heater with this door; but the sheetmetal work and fit are perfect. Note that our original 15-inch door deployed self-tapping screws to attach the heater to the door flange... but that the screw-holes in the 18-inch door were too large for the previous screws to engage the holes... so it was necessary to visit the hardware store for eight 8-32 x 0.375" truss head screws and nuts. Pictured is 0.5-inch length screws (which are not too long), because that was the best I could do. You need the truss head to minimize infringement upon your opening. Nice door. Fulfilled all our requisites perfectly. Hole image 2 shows additional wood added for Fogatti mounting screws. This piece was both glued and screwed into place.

Installation is easy with basic tools and some basic knowledge in D/C electrical. However; recommend that you do your measurements and prepare for modifications. My install replaced a 10 gallon gas/electric water heater. Ordered the 18”x18” door to fit over the area where the old unit was. The new unit slipped in without any problems but one. There was a slight gap between the door flange and side of rv. The fix was to construct another flange to fit behind the unit door flange. Second was to relocate the wooden brace that the old unit mounted to. Unscrew and move the brace “flush” with the RV siding and secure in place with the previous screws. Plumbing was easy enough but requires modifications to accommodate new unit. My RV uses PEX-B, so modifications were simple and does require some special tools and fittings. Electric is a little more complicated. The old water heater was gas/electric which required 120/12 volt power. The new unit only requires 12vlts @10amp. You would think that all you would have to do is use the existing 12vlt. System; No you cannot, because the way the old system works. The best fix for me was to buy a converter that converts 120 (ac)volt to 12volt (DC); simply add a receptacle to the existing 120 AC and plug in the converter. Best part is that it is already part of the electrical panel (20 amp) breaker.

The media could not be loaded. UPDATED. I do like how easy this was to install and how much thought they gave into the fact that this product will typically replace atwood water heaters with a tank. The optional doors that are available easily cover the original opening of my Atwood 10 gallon tank, 18“ x 18“ hole. Update: recently I tested at 6500 feet in Showlow Arizona and it’s still working very well! Minor Issues: I don’t like that they have a non-adjustable hot water flow sensor, which will turn off the burner/supply of heated water when the hot water flow gets below 0.55 gallons/minute. If I reduce the flow of water because I’m going to shave or if I am dry camping & want to conserve water, the flow sensor will shut off the heat. I’m going to try and turn the water temperature setting down so I have to draw more warmed water and reduce my mixer valve cold water supply to try and work with this flow sensor issue. Some of the 12 V factory installed wiring is touching the hot water copper coils & the technician suggested that I move them.

Water flow is great endless hot water. The installation is a little difficult but manageable. Well worth the Money spent. Good quality, instant hot water great product. 12volt power requirement.
