Direct replacement for: 96160, 96160SU, 96153, 96117, 96153SU, 96158, 96163, 96158SU. Doors recommended: 94050 (Arctic White) 94010 (Black). If this installation is in place of an old water heater, and adaptor brackets are needed, we recommend 94016 (Arctic White) 94067 (black). Aluminum tank is lightweight and corrosion resistant.

Outstanding replacement/upgrade for older RV's. I have used them now a couple of times and they always fit, easy installation, doesn't come with a door and if it's a retrofit replacing a larger opening water heater be sure to purchase the oversized opening kit which makes it look like a factory install. i had to replace mine due to my failure to drain the tank over the winter. that said, this was an exact match and replacement was very straightforward. if anyone is curious, the flanges on the front bend 90 degrees and screw in from the front. i should add, this was half the price quoted for the same water heater at my local rv parts store. thanks ... show more

I am a 70 old woman and I installed it myself. The original tank went left to right. This one installs straight into the space .works great.Dont park in Nebraska over night when it is Feb and 16 degrees .the hotel was warm .

    • Expect headaches if replacing an Atwood.
Nicely made water heater. If you are replacing an Atwood expect some headaches. To start the existing opening is oversized and requires a special door trim kit. I needed one in black, which I could not get on Amazon. Secondly, the water inlet and outlet are in different locations than the original. This requires replacing the PEC hoses and working in a really tight space to get it done. I felt fortunate that the gas line fit without much modification. The cover and trim kit are awkward to install but it does work. Overall not sure I would do this again. ... show more

    • It took me a week to install - Now on Jan 2022 it doesnt work
I liked the instructions and watched one video on youtube that made everything much easier to install. I fabricated a solid square from angle steel made a flange that covered the existing gaps and used an older water heater door that was the size of the original hole. It was a miracle that it fit as well as it did. I purchased a light and two switches from a RV store and made my own dual switch because it did not come with one and the one in the picture is no longer available. Wired it in the switch using an empty slot in the fuse box with a 10amp fuse and the ran the wires through a sheath and mounted the switches through a normal 120amp housing. It didnt work initially because I forgot to turn the valve but the water was scolding hot when it started to work. So be careful, the dual gas electric works and I even tested the gas shutoff and light. Make sure not to turn on the electricity side if the tank is empty and always perform maintenance. Over all it has worked great! the reason i am giving it a 4 stars is because i measure it against my home water heater that is also 600$ 50 gallons and i cant justify in my head paying the same amount for a 6 gallon water heater for an RV at the same price. Just doesnt make sense to me. Would i buy it again absolutely but still leaves that itch on my head... UPDATE: I used it 3 times since i put it in, I winterized it and now putting it back into service it doesnt work at all. There is power to the unit, the controls work just no heat on either gas or electric. very disappointing!!! ... show more

    • Good replacement heater.
Works well. Good replacement for the Atwood water heater that cracked and was leaking. Found a YouTube video showing how to replace the water heater. Wasn't a difficult repair and saved hundreds of dollars doing it myself.

    • Works better than the original one
Works great highly recommend this one. I never run out of hot water. I think it works better than the original one that came with the camper. I had someone install it the only issue I saw him having was small area big man. Couldn’t be more pleased with how well it works.
