Description

The best water heaters on the road today, Suburban's line of water heaters includes high recovery gas, gas-electric and motor aid models with sizes and features to match the requirements of almost any RV. Heated water attacks all metals, but not porcelain. That's why Suburban uses a porcelain-lined, steel water heater tank with an anode rod to "absorb" the electrolytical action - just like your water heater at home. In fact, when a Suburban porcelain-lined tank is properly maintained, it saves the owners the cost of premature replacement. In addition, every Suburban tank is pressure tested twice during the manufacturing process to ensure its integrity. Fast recovery means more hot water and fewer cool water cycles. Six gallon Suburban gas water heaters feature 12,000 BTUH input and a recovery rate of 10.2 gallons per hour - that's the fastest in the industry. The insulation is available for this product. Also light indicator is available for this product.

  • Happy camper here
Size: 6 Gallon Style: Direct Spark Ignition
After a bit of negligence of my own, I needed to replace my “Suburban (sw6D) travel trailer water heater “ after burning the original out with no water in it upon powering up on a trip. (Don’t do that/Don’t be that guy). After shopping around I found the best price on Amazon, so ordered it up. It arrived about 4 days later in perfect condition, so I wasn’t worried about it being damaged in transit. Very well boxed too I might add, with interior heavy cardboard liners to assure its safe delivery. I installed it my self after reviewing a video on YouTube. Piece of cake, just watched closely to how it came out of the side wall and it’s wiring & gas hookup. Connected 3 wires exactly the same as the old one, then zip tied the loose excess wire length ( helpful for installation, pulling it all out onto a stool). Carefully inserted back into its location in the wall while watching closely how I was going to connect the gas compression nut after it was inside its home. Had to go inside to position that to its proper location, then go back outside to carefully pull it into the knockout prior to the connection. That was the tricky part but it didn’t go to bad. Just doesn’t want to bend or flex easily, but with just a bit of force with one hand (fingers), the other was able to thread it in place over Teflon taped threads on the fitting. Screwed the housing in place before the gas hookup on each each side, into the studs with 2 screws from the original install. Will test for propane gas leak with soapy water mix before I do my test run, but confident it’s all ready for the next trip. I’ll definitely be checking to confirm waters in it first by a quick check of the release value outside from now on. But all in all it was an easy install if your at all handy with tools. Took about 3 hours with caution. If I had to do another one, it’d take half that time. ... show more

  • heats up fast. Fast to install, but makes small ticking sounds when heating up.
Size: 6 Gallon Style: Direct Spark Ignition
Unsure if the unit is supposed to make ticking sounds when heating up. I've read about some make small noises but eventually goes away but this I would say goes on pretty long in time. Heats up fast.

  • worked for me Rapid delivery from Amazon
Size: 6 Gallon Style: Direct Spark Ignition
It worked in my 2014 Winnabego, life is good. Getting ready to take my motorhome out after 2yrs and the hot water heater was leaking all over. Amazon delivered a new unit in two days I installed because it would have taken months this time year at the dealer. It was easy install if you are a little handy. On a scale of 1-10 I would give it about a 4. ... show more

  • Perfect Replacement for my old hot water heater
Size: 6 Gallon Style: Direct Spark Ignition
Super efficient compared to my old hot water heater. It was easy to install once I got the old one out. Probably the nicest feature though is that I don't have to go outside to light my old one using the DSi that automatically lights is a fabulous upgrade. And it's nice because it only comes on whenever the water gets cooler so you can actually leave it on more often. Since there's no pilot it doesn't burn extra fuel being on. ... show more

  • Easy out easy in worked perfectly
Size: 6 Gallon Style: Direct Spark Ignition
If you fairly handy this is easy to do. I think the hardest part was removing the brass inlets as they need to be reused on new tank. Also you have to remove off old unit the very outside flange that goes in outside opening that the screws go through and into rv outside wall to secure it to rv. Make sure to order the Butyl tape 1 inch which is seal that goes between flange and RV and high heat pipe dope. Which is a sealant that you brush on the two brass inlets to sesl from any leaks. If your handy you know all this I added it to review for those that are not as handy at these repairs so they order everything they will need. You will also need to cut the 3 wires that connect heater to rv I soldered them but any good Trish connectors should work. Then you put propane line in checks for leaks with soapy water if no bubbles fire it up. May take a few try’s as propane needs to work it’s way to chamber to fire up. There are plenty of utube videos showing how to replace the old one with new one Just order everything with new tank Amazon has it all do you all set when it arrives. G ... show more
