Nice big pot. Heavy enough for braising. Cleans easily. I like it a lot but I gave 3 stars because the lid came with 2 dents, which is frustrating.

    • A salvage unit with dented & uneven rim

I had Calphalon products over the pass 15 years. This brand name costs a little more for their quality. That is the reason why I repurchased this 5 qt. sauce pot. Not sure the original price of this pot, but I felt that I got a discount price for $80.00. I was excited to open the package when it arrived, but only found that the pot & lid were packed with cheapy shipping material. The lid was well protected with bubble wrap, but the pot was just be inside a regular shipping box. The rim of the pot was uneven and with a few dents. The lid & pot did not fit at all. There were number of tape marks on the body of pot. It might be a salvaged unit. Glad that I could return it. Bad experience with this purchase. ... show more

I was looking to replace a 7 Quart Soup Pot Iโ€™d had, also made by Calphalon, & worn out through use for 20 years! I didnโ€™t want a smaller pot and they no longer made the 7 Quart, so I went up a size to this 8.5 Quart model. Unfortunately itโ€™s size is in its width, making it too shallow for some purposes (liquids cook off too quickly, even on lowest heat settings). It is still high quality, and the glass lid is a must to see how things are cooking without lid-lifting. If Iโ€™d seen this in a store Iโ€™d have known it wasnโ€™t right for me, but Covid forces me online so...oops! ... show more

Amazing pan! It's very large, leaving lots of room for mixing up pots of soup, stew, and pasta dishes. I cook a lot and have been searching for a pot like this for ages. Nothing sticks to it, it heats evenly, and it's a good weight (so as not to be too heavy when it's full and I need to strain pasta). This pot is also not made in China - mine says "Toledo, Ohio" on the bottom. I e-mailed Calphalon Customer Care to confirm that this pan was, in fact, made in the US (it is) and they sent me back a very detailed listing of where all of their different cookware lines are manufactured. Since I love this pan so much, that will come in handy when I add more pieces. If I had to change one thing about this pan, however, I would prefer that the bottom was not smooth. It could use some texture because it's not heavy and seems to want to slide around on the stovetop burners a bit. This is not a huge deal for me, as I make a habit of cooking with my larger pans on the rear burners anyway. But just in case you have little ones at home who like to be around the stovetop when you're cooking.... be aware of that. ... show more
