I bought 2 of them. The first one had a lovely night light but it only lasted for 4 days then it quit. There's a switch on the back so I could turn it off during the day. The second one never lit up. They are lovely clocks and I would keep them if I could get a partial refund but that's probably going to be too much "paperwork". UPDATE- A few days later I noticed the light was working! So happy. but what happened? I think because the light of the clock is so soft (perfect as a NIGHT light), it is not visible during the day, so I thought it wasn't working. So sorry I sent the second one back. Again, I received it during daylight hours, so when I put the batteries in and turned it on, I saw no illumination. ... show more

    • BRIGHTER LIGHT BETWEEN NUMBER 5 & 6
I bought this as a gift to someone who needed a clock in their bedroom. They are happy with it, and feel as if the moon is on the wall, as the light is soothing not irritating. When I received it I opened it to make sure it was ok, and placed the 4 batteries in the compartments. I looked at it every day for a week and it keeps perfect time! The illumination showed nicely but I did notice that the light seems to be brighter at the bottom of the clock between 5 and 6. Not sure if that is a defect, or all the clocks are made like that? The face of clock is properly illuminated, but not sure if this was meant to be or not? Otherwise, everything is good, and it's kind of like having a night light that faces you, but doesn't interrupt your sleep. The dial is just bright enough at night to read it and also provides a nice night lite. It makes no noise at all and we never have to adjust the time. The click is made of lightweight material so you can hang it anywhere. My mom is loving this clock.

I have to admit that when my wife wanted me to purchase this clock I was a little shocked at the price. I mean its a clock, and it's not even keeping network time. However, after I begrudgingly purchased this, I had come to really enjoy this clock. Once set, its accuracy is commendable. The readability of the clock face is very easy on the eyes especially with the lighted face. One note, there are separate battery compartments for the clock and the lighted face. I would venture a guess that this is because the lighted face eats batteries, and the separate battery compartment was a design decision to not compromise the time keeping accuracy of the clock. I am giving this 4 stars since my only complaint is that you have to replace the lighted face batteries more than the clock itself. This probably varies with how dark of a location you will be using the clock. ... show more

Have a relative in a nursing home. If she wakes at night, the lit clock not only lets her know what time it is, but also provides enough soft light to make her feel safe. Yes, the battery for the light needs to be changed more often, but it is worth having for my relative's peace of mind.     • Great clock, but the illumination feature needs work
I've had this clock for almost a year now. The greatest thing about it is that it is quiet—none of that clack-clack-clack you get with those clocks where the second hand lurches from one second to the next. It also seems to be pretty accurate, in that it doesn't noticeably run either fast or slow. The one shortcoming is the illumination feature. Whereas the basic operation of the clock uses one battery, the light sensor requires three—and it sucks power like a thirsty dog drinking water on a hot summer day. Regardless of whether I use alkaline or rechargeable batteries, I have to replace them every three or four weeks—with peak brightness during the first few days, followed by a steady decline. It would be great if it could go three months before having to replace the batteries. ... show more

UPDATED 12.2.25 Still keeping time after two month but no longer 'silent' clock is making a lot noise now, horrid. end of message -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Day of unpacking Amazingly well packaged from Bulova. This clock was mounted inside it's box with two tiny screw to stabilize during shipping. Bulova obviously takes pride in their clocks, they don't use thin slip dust cover cardboard. They must never have any complaints on their end for cutting corners in the shipping dept. Bulova C4865 Night Vision Lighted Dial Wall Clock, 10", White is just the right size for a smaller space, but large enough 10'' outside edge around 7'' clock face that I can easily read time across the room with it's 20mm (13/16) x 14mm (9/16) Arabic numerals. Easy to set time and load/remove AA batteries. This is a SILENT SWEEP clock and should be exciting to see illumination at night. Arrived today so accuracy or durabilty are unknown but looks to be very well made and would not expect any dissapointments from Bulova timepieces.
