  • YAYYYYYYYYY!!!
I've been using a Dymo 4XL for about a year now, and it is the worst. I was so unhappy with it that I literally threw it on the floor. It survived that, unfortunately, but recently it's been spitting out 3-4 blank labels for every one that I print, so I decided it's time for an upgrade. This Brother printer is so amazing in comparison. It's just WAY WAY WAY WAY better. Moral of the story- don't buy a POS Dymo. Buy this and trust me that it's a far better investment in your mental health/stress levels/general quality of life. ... show more

  • Works great with 4" x 6" Generic Shipping Labels
We love this label printer! It is working great for printing 4x6 shipping labels directly from Etsy, and it works great with the Generic Shipping Labels (listed as Compatible w/ Brother DK-1241 101mm x 152mm(4" x 6")) by BETCKEY.

  • Would love to give 5 stars
Would love to give 5 stars, but the labels will cost you. No generic for this that I know of. This thing looks pretty sweet next to its little brother, the Brother QL-700. I have yet to find a single review of this printer, anywhere. I suppose I'll be first. It prints sharp and extremely legible compared to the Rollo I am returning. I bought the Rollo so that I could use free UPS accordion style labels but it would always print from Shippo and Xpsship poorly and illegibly. I tried contacting customer service 3 times to no avail. I personally think they just need to improve their driver and it'll work nicely after that. Alas, it was a no go for me. Enter the Brother QL-1100. The thing just works. No muss, no fuss. No need to call customer support. Printing 4x6 labels that I have no doubt will get my packages to their destinations. With the Rollo I was so paranoid. No longer. I have a few Brother products in the house and they all work perfectly. If you're choosing between this, the Rollo or the Dymo 4XL, I'd just go ahead and go with the QL-1100 or the network model. ... show more

  • Labels are extremely expensive, not worth it, + a few major flaws
At first glance, this printer was great. But after spending a few weeks using it, there are some major issues that pop up. 1) The labels for this printer by Brother are more than 12 cents per label, which doesn't sound that crazy if you don't do many orders, but there are options for other label printers for less than 2 cents per label. 2) On top of that, there are very few generic labels for this printer, and this is important - As of this review, there was only one company I could find making legit working labels, enKo, and they are a bit over 2 cents per label, but they aren't the correct size. Brother makes their shipping labels 103mm x 164mm, (Not exactly 4 x 6 ) and the generic enKO makes thiers smaller, 102mm x 152mm) which wouldn't matter too much if you could actually tell the brother printer that. It, unfortunately, does NOT let you print on smaller labels when you try, because it sees those enKO labels as originals 103mm x 164mm, so you will get cutoff parts of your labels. And you can't force it to print with your specified settings, so you HAVE to tell it to print on the original size, which causes a few issues - 2.a) Cutoff labels 2.b) Printing the label, and then spitting out a blank label, due to the printer thinking it needed extra space I guess? So you get a lot of wasted labels with the generics, and I tried for hours to get this thing to print on the smaller labels correctly and it just doesn't work right. 3) Another issue if you plan to network this printer - it does not have an Ethernet port, so you need to share the printer via PC, and this is not consistent enough to be a good solution. I don't know if its the printer, windows 10, or what, but when trying to print from another PC on the network, most of the time it just doesn't print, and you have to remove the printer from your devices and re-add it manually via the network address. It's just not a good solution. If you need a networked thermal printer, don't get this printer. Returning this printer, going to try out the Arkscan next. ... show more

  • The most frustrating device I’ve ever owned. Do not buy.
If you look at my reviews you can see I have a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews. I can always find a benefit to a product, but this printer, is one of those devices I have learned to despise. I hate it, and I mean, I want to take this printer and throw it out of my window but unfortunately my house is a single story and the crash it would make in the grass isn’t even worth the effort. Brother has made some incredible printers that I love ( the 2270 if I remember correctly ) and that thing has been trucking along for years now without a single hiccup, so when me and my wife needed a thermal printer for postage to avoid having to trim print outs and tape them to our parcels it was a no brainer for me to buy this QL-1100. It’s brand new still, I’ve been ‘test printing’ and trying difference tape brands in this thing to try and get it to print correctly but it won’t. I consider myself very tech savvy but no matter the brand, the supposed interchangeability manufacturers claim with this device, none of them work. Why is that ? Because brother made their tapes to print to just a few mm different than standard printers to force you to have to buy their own brand. And even if you do buy brother’s brand of printing 4x6 labels it still doesn’t work. I get a feed, a beautiful print, and once it cuts that label off it retracts the next label so far back it falls out of the ejection area. So now you have to open the lid, line up the next label, and maybe print out a blank label and an actual label then start the whole mess again. AVOID THIS PRINTER! You have been warned. ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY_USER INTERFACE SUCKS
This is the worst piece of garbage. Whoever designed this user interface and all of the hoops you have to jump through in the right order to even print one label needs to be fired and never work again designing user interfaces. It is horrible. I cannot get it to print on my mac. I have followed every instruction and the paper sizes and it gives me various error messages or it says it is printing and does NOTHING. Be warned this printer hates Macs. ... show more
