  • Best Printer I Ever Had
Needed a new printer. My old HP inkjet was going through ink too quickly, and not printing so clearly, at that. I always had HP inkjet printers; thought that I would get another. But I read a Consumer Reports article that helped to assess what type of printer bests suits one's needs. Given that I did not need photo quality printing, nor color, I determined that a laser printer was better for me. This one was recommended by Consumer Reports. Bought it. It was not too difficult to set up, and I am a 64 year-old nominal tech user. Took a little longer to understand how to make a two-sided printout from 2 single side sheets, but I got it. I really like this machine. Seem very solid, durable. It is easy to use, whether printing something off my laptop, or making copies. Love the ease of printing double-sides from the laptop. Very good quality prints. I do not know how long my drum of ink will last, but I have to think it is more economical than inkjet cartridges. I have yet to use the scan function, so I cannot rate that. Regarding the price. The Consumer Reports article, which was published at the beginning of 2022, said that the price was about $220.00. Perhaps because of supply chain issues, I had trouble finding this model, and many of the other recommended ones, anywhere. I found this on Amazon for $330.00 in April. I have no buyers remorse. I cannot overstate ... show more

  • Great machine and poor customer service
When I was trying to download the drivers for t new Mini Mac M2 the website download didn’t work. I called Brothers customer support and this support person tried to get e to buy a 3rd party firewall for $200 a years. It was so ridiculous and support keep telling the drivers couldn’t be downloaded without the firewall. I finally hug up and tried doing a search via Apples support and found the correct solution. It is a great printer, I just hope nothing needs there customer support. ... show more

  • Functional, not the most intuitive
I've been running this printer for about a week now. Setup was fairly smooth and it connected to Wifi easily. Print quality is okay, although I wish it printed a bit darker--it's readable, but it almost looks like the toner is low, which is odd on a new machine. Figuring out how to scan was way more difficult than it needed to be. I finally got it to work over AirPrint, which is fine, but the online manual didn't have troubleshooting options when the expected result wasn't what displayed on the screen. I've also gotten several "paper tray empty" errors when the tray clearly has paper in them (solved by just opening and shutting the tray, error disappears). For the cost, it's fine, but I'm not blown away. ... show more

  • LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS PRINTER!!!!
This is an exceptionable printer for the money. If you make scrapbooks or cards you will love this laser printer. It takes card stock like a dream, even 140# water color paper! As people who work in paper crafts know you have to have a laser to foil easily but so many printers won't take the thick papers. It has very nice regular text printing. Nice and crisp. Easy to set up. I have only had it for about 3-4 weeks but I use it everyday, quite a bit, and no problems. I had my last Brother Printer that was the older model of this one for 8 years and it finally printed it's last page before going to printer heaven. If this one goes that long I will be thrilled! Delivered on time. Packaged very good Delivered as advertised Easy to set up Easy to use Excellent quality print Fast printing I would, and already have, recommended to friends and family! ... show more

  • If you're an Apple user, this thing is a train wreck
It's a shame, because the overall printer quality seems good. The print quality is nice, the unit is quiet, quick and as a printer, does what's it's supposed to. But alas, it must connect to a device to print, and that's where it gets ugly. I spent the afternoon trying to get WiFi to recognize this Brother printer... no luck. And the Network Direct feature doesn't recognize the password (which was typed in correctly multiple times). The iPrint&Scan app has a 2.x rating in the App Store. The only way I could get this to work, is using a USB cable between the computer and printer. It's as if all the Brother R&D goes into the device, without much effort, testing or consideration for connecting it to devices to print from. In fairness, I have tried to connect it with a MacBook Pro (Monterey OS, which of course isn't supported by Brother), a MacMini (Catalina OS, which is supported by Brother), an iPad and an iPhone. No AirPrint connection (broken?), no WiFi connection and no Network direct connection. Perhaps Windows is a better story? I wish I could recommend this printer to Mac users, but I can't. Brother needs to decide what business they're in. If it's making fancy boat anchors that only work in very limited ways, then folks (like me) will be looking elsewhere. If they come to realize the connectivity is at least as important, or perhaps even more important, than the printer features, perhaps product satisfaction will improve. Definitely a disappointment here. ... show more

  • Great replacement for an old Brother printer
I have been very happy overall with Brother printers over the years however, my old Brother printer and scanner was no longer supported and wasn't compatible with Mac OS for direct printing and scanning. After careful consideration, I opted for this printer and am pleased with the purchase. The print quality is great and scanning is available in Mac OS as well as iOS on the iPhone and iPad. I have recommended this very printer to a friend and has frequent connectivity problems with her current printer made by a different company. ... show more
