  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Day 8, all is good
Style: New Model: HLL6200DW Pattern Name: Printer
1268 Total Page Count so far, 1134 2-sided and have experienced none of the issues that some have reported so far. I updated the firmware to the latest, "Main Version: 1.81" and Sub1 Version 1.75". I'm using 24lb Hammermill laser paper bought here on amazon. Power cord is embossed with "16AWG", most/all aftermarket power cords turned up by searching for "Brother HL-L6200 power cord" are 18AWG. The power cord for the HL-L6200DW must be rated for at least 13 amps which means you must use at least a 16AWG cord. I went with a 15 foot 14AWG Monoprice brand cord from amazon - it was less expensive than other brands of both 16AWG and 14aWG cords. 14AWG cords are rated at 15 amps. Since peak power is approximately 1368 watts, it does take a bit of current to get the fusers up to a temperature of nearly 400ºF to fuse the toner to paper, those that use the old 18AWG power cord that was used on their old printer or go with a longer 18AWG cord might just have issues with smelling something burning. 1200 dpi resolution and set to"Print in Black" so things like the text in the headers in Word always are in dark black. Print quality is, IMO, excellent. IMO lower settings and using toner saving mode probably would equal lower print quality. No idea if the settings to reduce paper curl and density adjustment might resolve some of the complaints but there are advanced settings that can be tried. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Good BASIC printer
Style: New Model: HLL6200DW Pattern Name: Printer
I did not read the product description with enough care. I assumed that a printer costing this much would also scan and copy. NOT. This is a one-trick pony. It lets me and my wife print from our phones from anywhere in the house, but if we want to scan or copy . . . well, there's always the old Canon, right where it always was. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars I, personally, use these in my small business.
Style: New Model: HLL6200DW Pattern Name: Printer
For five years, on average, we’ve printed 200-500 documents per day, 6 days per week, on three of these. They never fail, print quality is excellent, and they are super fast, while the toner and drums last a very long time! They’re still going strong!!!

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Fast printing workhorse at a budget-friendly price. - Read toner lock quick fix
Style: New Model: HLL6200DW Pattern Name: Printer
I'm not going to lie, we have to replace this printer every 15 months or so after it has printed nearly a half million sheets of paper. Things start to get a little wonky once we get past the 400,000-page mark, However, we stay loyal because it prints super fast (nearly 1 sheet per second), it's compact, and we have an extra print tray, so, it's cost-effective. We always have extra toner cartridges/drums and this wifi printer installs quickly on all of our Mac/PC computers. With two thriving eCommerce sites, we rely on this compact business/consumer-grade laser printer every day of the week for our shipping labels, packing slips, invoices and office documents. We cannot afford to have an unreliable printer and the HL-L6200DW series has performed well with heavy use. I also use an HP laser printer at home and according to the reviews, it has about the same lifespan, at a much higher price. Thank goodness my home office needs aren't as demanding and in all honesty, I think the two manufacturers are about the same in performance, longevity and print quality and speed. I like the HP software somewhat better, but I don't think it is worth the extra $100+ for a printer of equal quality. Toner Lock Bypass: Open the toner access door on your printer. • Press the Secure and Cancel buttons at the same time. • Use the arrow buttons to select the correct toner yield of the toner you are using TNR-STR = Starter cartridge TNR-STD = TN-820 standard yield TNR-HC = TN-850 high yield TNR-S.HC = TN-880 super high yield It's a fast printing workhorse at a budget-friendly price. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Looks like another Brother workhorse
Style: New Model: HLL6200DW Pattern Name: Printer
I had a previous Brother laser printer (HL-5250DN) that was a solid workhorse for ten years. I used it in my home office and it had great print quality and the toner cartridges seemed to last forever. (I got an off-brand refilled cartridge once, but went back to Brother's own cartridges as they gave the best quality results and lasted the longest). Towards the end the paper feed began to jam with paper stuck halfway through printing. I suspect it was the drum unit reaching the end of the line. When the paper finally refused to feed at all, I decided it was time for a new printer. I could have replaced the drum unit, but that would have cost more than half the price of this new printer. After a month of use, I am happy with this printer, which was the closest I could find to what I had previously had. I mainly chose this model because it came with Wi-fi built in (the HL-5250DN did not, and I had it hard-wired with ethernet to our home network), and it had the option of using super high-yield toner cartridges, which many other models did not. On the whole it appears to be another winner from Brother. Some reviews have complained about heavy electrical draw, but I've not experienced that. We live in an apartment building built over 100 years ago, with not great wiring, and I have had no problem with the printer. I give this 4 instead of 5 stars only because 1) it takes longer to print the initial page than my former printer (though it then kicks out additional pages at a fast clip), 2) the initial page sometimes (but not always) has an annoying small crease running halfways up the page (I need to trouble-shoot what's up with that), and 3) it is kind of loud in printing. I consider those minor issues. Set-up was much more of a breeze than I expected. I did go to the Brother website and downloaded the latest drivers, but also used the included CD of drivers and set-up wizard and it found our home network Wi-fi and that was that. We have my Mac and my wife's PC on our network and both work fine with it. We've even printed from our iPhones and my iPad to it, which was a nice touch. Bottom line: am I pleased? Yes. ... show more
