Getting close to 2 months of ownership now and very pleased with this printer. Things I’ve learned after using is this will never compete with a jet printer for printing photos. I knew this before purchasing but still tried it out and it doesn’t even come close to my jet printer for printing close to professional prints. It just turns out grainy and a waste of toner. While this isn’t a true laser printer since it uses Leds instead of a laser to form a picture it still excels in everything a laser printer was created for. This printer prints brilliant sharp text, graphs, and does it economically and fast on both sides of paper automatically if needed. Also the size, yes much smaller than floor models rated for heavy office work but still large and heavier than a person would expect if choosing this for home use because it’s built like an ox. Had no problem connecting it to home WiFi and works excellent with AirPrint from iPhones. Worried that I would miss having a built in scanner but I just use an app on phone to scan then print. Brother HL-L3270CDW Compact Wireless Digital Color Printer with NFC, Mobile Device and Duplex Printi At less than $300 this printer is, in my opinion, a bargin. This printer is ~40 pounds, but the box arrived with barely any damage via USPS (pleasantly surprized). Print quality for fonts is sharp. Print quality for pictures and images may not be as well defined and posibly over saturated (I didn't calibrate). I printed a artist's rendering of a girl meeting a young deer, in a forest, and the face of the deer was dark and lacked definition. The whole print was over saturated and didn't look that bad, but wasn't true to the picture I had downloaded from deviant art dot com. I don't think I am allowed to upload the print due to (c). The toner will likely last years based on the fact that I don't print much, but if it were an inkjet I'd need to buy new ink every few months I wanted to print a form, map, evelope, letter, etc... 'cause the inkjet heads would dryout and clog. Duplex printing is a plus! My previous printer was a Brother Inkjet, and I liked the ease of use, and quality. I recommend this printer if you're not using it for photographs, or to print nice pictures, but why would you use a laser printer for that?! When I purchased this printer less than 2 months ago, I was very excited to use it in order to streamline our restaurant/bar menu printing process. This listing boasted the capabilities of auto printing duplex, high quality color, and speed. Since day 1, this printer has delivered on none of these qualities. The only thing is has delivered is a headache and time wasted each time I had to use it. 1. Color - Every time I hit print it's a nice surprise to see what color it's printing for the day. Will it be the nice light dusty blue my file shows, a bright blue raspberry, or maybe purple?! As of recent it's been an interesting dyed looking combination of all three. The color is so inaccurate and inconsistent I can't even imagine feeling comfortable selling this as a 'color printer'. Perhaps a "you get what I feel like printing today" printer. 2. Speed - While this printer does print somewhat quickly on the days it decides to work, these days are few and far between. More frequently, the printer will cancel prints mid-job requiring the job to be resent and adjusted to line up with the last page printed, adding an extreme amount of unnecessary wasted time to a print project. 3. Duplex "Capable" - When I purchased this product, I was careful to do research to ensure that it could print on A5 paper, as this is the dimensions of our menus. I was thrilled to find that it was, in fact, A5 compatible. Another important box to check was finding a printer that was auto duplex capable, as our menu pages are front and back. Upon receiving this machine, I could not for the life of me figure out how to get it to print duplex for these menu sheets. It was not until I was deep down a rabbit hole on the phone with support that I tried to send a file to the printer to duplex via Microsoft Word and it prompted a pop-up that the duplex option is not compatible with the A5 size. The support staff had been unable to share that very important piece of information with me. The seemingly random page sizes it is compatible with are A4, Letter, Legal, Mexico Legal, and India Legal. So now we have a printer that can't print color accurately, is not fast, AND cannot print duplex on the supposedly compatible paper size that we need it to - unchecking all of the boxes we had checked before ordering it. 4. Support - Possibly the most frustrating issue of all is being sent to a support team that seemingly knows nothing about these printers or printers in general. After numerous conversations and hours of time spent on the phone, nothing has been fixed and the support staff repeatedly gives up on finding a resolution for the issues. 5. Return Policy - The two best words to describe this printer are inconsistent and unreliable. My place of business has been a Brother user/purchaser for years and has had good experiences with these machines in the past. For this reason, and because the printer has OCCASIONALLY worked since purchase, I was hesitant to return the item, thinking issues could be resolved with a support specialist and because we did really need a printer for our business to run as usual. The return policy is only good for 30 days - I am now less than 2 months since we received this product and am unable to return it to either Amazon OR Brother. After spending so much time trying to get this machine to work correctly, I am really under the impression that it is just a defective product/brick that I am now stuck with. It doesn't even make a pretty paper weight. Please be WARNED. I don't ever write reviews, but this is one that I feel passionate about as I have spent so many days/hours trying to get a brand new product to work correctly - on the brink of mental breakdown each and every time. Because Brother's support staff is so unhelpful, please know that when you make this purchase and run into issues (and you will), there will be no one to help you and you will be on your own. Since the days of electronic typewriters, I was very impressed with the quality of BROTHER products. I am now puzzled even more on the great quality of this color printer (the Brother HL-L3270CDW). It is economical and very sturdy. Print quality is really impressive (both color, and black/white). Set up (in my case I wanted wireless/WiFi) was a breeze, nothing to figure out, no manual reading, no errors. Instead, the software knew what to do from beginning to end, just a couple of on-screen questions did the magic. The print results are stunning, for both text and graphics. I am particularly very impressed with the quality of color photographs. I had never seen a laser printer render this kind of quality for camera taken pictures. With this kind of new technology, feel free to dump your other dedicated mess-prone inkjet photo printer. Simply put: You won't believe how good this printer is. Thank you Bro!!! PS. I had used a Hewlett-Packard Color Laser-jet that gave me the worst headaches and made me waste a lot of hours of frustration. To top it off, when HP suggested to update the firmware of that printer, the only thing achieved by doing that was to render the printer useless and un-reparable (it 'bricked' it). So, if you see something with an HP logo on it, just move on!... and keep looking for something else. You'll be glad you did!. ... show more
