Description

The Bromic Tungsten 500 Smart-Heat Gas 5 Burner Radiant Infrared Patio Heater for Propane provides 43,000 BTU/hour of direct people-warming heat. It heats up fast and keeps you warm so you can enjoy your backyard grill and outdoor living spaces into the night and all year 'round. This three burner heater heats up to 200 square feet, up to 15 feet away from the heater. Bromic heaters have stylish contemporary designs that fit perfectly in backyard and restaurant patios, not like those industrial looking ones you've seen. The mesh front and patented direct ignition system ensures a reliable start and effective operation in winds up to 8 miles per hour. The heater can be wall mounted or hung from the ceiling (with optional Ceiling Post Mount). The optimum height is 8 feet from the floor to the bottom of the heater, and if the distance above the heater is less than 42-inches, or if the heater will be open to the elements, then the accessory Heat Deflector must be used. Multiple heaters can be operated from a single switch or smart control system (not included). The mounting bracket houses the control valve and module, removing them from the heat for greater life, and allows the heater to pivot left or right to direct the heat where you want it. Automatic reignition provides ongoing heat and convenience. The heater is made of stainless steel with brushed finish. Requires 120V for electronic ignition system. BH0210004.

I bought two of these heaters for a big patio remodel, and had them professionally installed. Right out of the box one heater had trouble starting, flaring, and sputtering. I notified the seller, and over the next three weeks, at Bromic’s insistence (and at my expense) my contractor performed four different troubleshooting site visits, including taking pictures, videos, and fiddling with parts. All along we were told it's probably an “install issue,” which was proven false when eventually a faulty transformer was identified and a new one sent out to fix it. (This process held up final inspections on my remodel by 3 weeks, BTW). At this point it was Winter, and we stopped trying to use them. I tried again to start them up in the Spring, and whaddaya know one unit would flare persistently (and dangerously) about 50% of the time and the other unit was completely non-functional. I had my fill of Bromic quality at this point, so I requested a full refund. I was stonewalled for two-and-a-half months until finally I agreed to enter another round of troubleshooting to identify potential “install issues”. Over another 3 weeks and multiple visits by my contractor, yet again a transformer was identified as faulty and a new one sent out to fix it, but this time it only allowed the heater to run for a minute before shutting down. Then the new theory was a faulty wiring harness, but I was done with the troubleshooting runaround - every single part on both heaters had been tinkered with or swapped out, multiple parts had been proven faulty, and not a single install issue was ever identified. Bromic tried to tell me this was unusual, so I told them if they sent me two brand new heaters with a new warranty I would give it one last chance - these heaters look great, and I wanted them to work. Bromic replied they'd send two new heaters - but with no warranty. Ha! Way to stand behind your product! I guess maybe these problem weren't so unusual after all… I said no thanks, and sent them back. Bottom line: Bromic has a serious issue with quality control, and they'll make you pay for it. Save yourself six months of troubleshooting headaches - pick a different heater brand. ... show more

The Bromic Heating Tungsten 500 works great and highly recommend them! I would have given 5 stars had the site recommended I buy the heat shields. After installation I realized they were too close to outdoor patio roof. I went back on Amazon and had to order the heat shields. The heat shields work great but they didn't come with installation instructions which caused some confusion during installation. ... show more

Unit will not function without controller, which is not included. Also mounting hardware shown in product photos was missing. I contacted Amazon regarding missing parts and they instructed me to contact seller, which I did and seller responded that I should instead contact Amazon, so no one was willing to discus missing parts. Would have returned immediately but restock fee is up to 50%. Beware. This unit requires a very specific control unit which is not the one that you see in the "purchased together" suggestions from Amazon. That one will not work with it. I contacted manufacturer and they were very helpful as far as suggesting correct control unit and heat reflector unit. If you purchase this unit I strongly suggest doing so directly from manufacturer. They will steer you right. ... show more

Product doesn't function without an expensive proprietary controller. If that were the only problem it works get 3 stars. The last 2 stars are lost by their customer support which was rude and condescending, not the least bit helpful. My contractor refused to continue to troubleshoot with them due to their poor attitude. I would strongly avoid an overseas company with probably less than 10 employees in the US. They should be embarrassed ... show more
