    • Great water pitcher with extremely good filter!
My water is “city” water, and the city pumps it from the local reservoir. When seasons change, especially, the water is undrinkable from the tap because the taste is awful. This water pitcher with the blue filter makes the water practically without a taste at all! I don’t know how I lived without it, since water is the only thing I drink. I also use the filtered water for cooking. It is easy to replace an old filter with a new one. Just make sure you fill the pitcher with water and pour it out in the sink around eight times to make sure you aren’t tasting any of the filter’s contents in the water. The pitcher itself is sturdy and works well even after a year of using it at least twelve times a day, for drinking and cooking water. You use the filter for six months, then buy one or two new blue filters just like the one you already have in the pitcher, and switch the old one out for a new one. ... show more

The best Brita filter and pitcher I have ever used. Water taste incredible. No lead, no chlorine, judt fantastic water. Pets immediately had cleansing evacuations versus feeding them tap water. They slept better. Holds lots of water. Filter is fast drainjng and snaps in tight. Construction solid versus the other pitchers from Brita. Worth the money this one. Get it. ... show more

    • What I've learned using a Brita filter for over 30 years.
I bought this Brita to replace an old one. I have been using Brita filters since 1993 when I moved to a place with terrible water. Reading questions and reviews I see questions I can answer. How long does a filter last? The answer is not a day on a calendar, measured by time. The new filter the Elite lasts quite a bit longer than the lesser expensive white ones. The filters lifetime is a lot longer than the various lights, buttons to push, etc.. Brita tried "measuring use" by time. I pay no attention to them. Time isn't the answer quantity of water being filtered and it's condition is the answer. When I put new water in it I watch to see if it is quickly dripping or hardly dripping. When it's extremely slow the filter is plugged and needs to be replaced. How quickly this happens depends on you water and the pipes it runs through. It's a matter of common sense. If you have had a recent water leak you are going to be bringing dirt, tree roots, you name it into your pipes. Flush your pipes to get the debris out before filling your Brita. Don't forget to clean you faucet areator. If you store water in your filter, wash it frequently to keep it clean, if it's near a window and gets sunlight it can and will grow slime and algea. Simple fix keep it away from windows. I hope I'm as happy with this new filter as I have been with all the old ones, I use 2 at a time, they last a long time but I can manage to wear out the lid hinges. This new version, has an opening at the spout. I don't think that being open is very sanitary, had I noticed, I'd have looked for a different version. Wish I hadn't thrown out the box I'd have take it back and looked for a older model. ... show more

    • Does not filter 10 cups at once - lacks a good seal - pour slowly
If you've never had a pitcher water filter one thing to note is that you can't fill it to the max all at once as the upper reservoir isn't large enough to hold, in this case, 10 cups and the filter doesn't work quickly enough to do it all in one pour. I assume it's the same for all or most regardless of brand. However, on this Brita there is no place on the pitcher that indicates you have put in 10 cups. Really? How about a line somewhere on the pitcher, that way users aren't guessing or forced to measure it out first. This is important because of the following: There is no seal on the lid of this pitcher, it's just plastic. That's okay, it fits pretty snug. The problem is that for some reason, when you put 10 cups in the pitcher, there is about a cup of it that for some reason remains in the upper reservoir. I've filled it 20+ times and it's always the same. Apparently, there is not enough force of gravity to push that last cup through the filter that is nearly fully submerged in the filtered water below by cup 9. Why does this matter? Here's why: The instructions provide no warning pertaining to fill lines except it instructs users to fill the upper reservoir only to the "max fill" tab. That tab, I presume, is there to either: (1) Keep the LED indicator mechanism attached to the underside of the lid from being submerged for a long periods of time (something I didn't see a warning against in the instructions for cleaning), or (2) They think people who buy pitchers and pour fluids into things don't understand the basic concepts and consequences of overfilling something with a liquid. It's probably (1), but I sure hope they made that mechanism waterproof since, you know, it's whole life will be working less than an inch from water that moves in close proximity with nothing to keep it from splashing on it as the pitcher is used. Back to the point though, since you have to fill the upper reservoir at least twice to put fill the pitcher to the max 10 cups, you have to go through the process of measuring yourself and seeing where the waterline stops when 10 cups are in the pitcher, then going forward just sort of guess as you use it. Not a deal-killer, but a simple mark on the pitcher would be a big improvement. If there is a mark, and the instructions indicate it, someone will need to point out where because it's not in my instructions and not obvious on the pitcher. That said, the water tastes great, it works well for us so far, and since none of more expensive brand filters are actually certified, I expect this one filters out lead and other things just as well (or close enough) that it's not a critical difference. Overall happy with the product, just wish there was something other than testing it several times and then eyeballing it that would indicate when it was at max capacity so there you don't overfill and risk unfiltered water from reservoir mixing in with the filtered water as it pours. ... show more

I am going to get this set up soon. I really enjoy the color, size and quality. I am very glad I made the purchase so I will be drinking much better water without so much hardcore minerals that Colorado falls has. My only complaint is it didn't come with a paper to say how to set it up. I googled this with the product and received some great information. ... show more

    • Very good at filtering water, but 2 pitchers broke in just 18 months
I've broken 2 of these in just 18 months after accidentally knocking them over, causing them to fall about 1 foot into a sink or a tub. That very short drop was enough to crack the entire side of the pitcher and make it useless. Sure, I did knock them over, but I've got GLASSES that can handle a 3 foot drop without breaking! Food grade plastic that you're going to be handling every day in the bathroom or the kitchen ought to be able to handle a measly little 1 foot drop, IMO. All Brita would have to do to fix this problem is make the plastic 1-2 mm thicker. I really don't want to buy another one of these or not even though they actually do a very good job at filtering the water -- the tap water in my 50+ year old building is hard and rusty due to old pipes, but it tastes just fine after coming out of the filer. So, IF you're 100% sure you'll never drop this, then it's worth getting. Otherwise, I don't know.... ... show more
