I’m honestly obsessed with this Brio water dispenser. This was hands down the best upgrade from my older version. I’ve tried so many separate ice machines over the years and they all end up the same way getting dirty, needing constant cleaning, and eventually jamming. It was such a hassle. This completely changed everything. Having hot and cold water plus ice all in one machine is a total game changer. I didn’t realize how much I needed it until I had it. The ice is actually incredible…clean, consistent, no weird taste, and it never clumps or jams like the others I’ve had. The best part is there was basically no setup. I just plugged it in and it was ready to go, which made moving into my new place so much easier.

Purchased the unit in April 2026 for our office. The water had a metallic taste, so we contacted Brio customer support. They promptly replaced the unit with a new one and instructed us to discard the old unit after cutting the electrical cable. Unfortunately, the replacement unit had the same issue, even after it was cleaned according to Brio’s recommended procedure using a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water. We contacted Brio again, and they sent yet another replacement. This time, they sent what they described as a “better” unit (Model 720). However, the water from this unit also had a metallic taste. We tested the water directly from the 5-gallon bottle to ensure the issue was not with the water itself, and the bottled water tasted perfectly fine. Therefore, the problem appears to be related to the water cooler. Following Brio’s emailed instructions, we purchased food-grade citric acid and cleaned the unit thoroughly, followed by another cleaning cycle with a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water. We then dispensed an entire 5-gallon bottle through the unit, alternating between hot and cold water. Despite all of these efforts, the water still has an unpleasant metallic aftertaste. No one in the office is willing to drink from the dispenser. Brio’s customer service has been very responsive and quick to take action. However, after receiving three consecutive units with the same issue, one can only conclude that there is a manufacturing defect with these models. Because the unit was purchased more than four weeks ago, we are unable to return it and are now stuck with a several-hundred-dollar item that we will likely have to throw away. I do not recommend these coolers.

After using this dispenser for a couple of months, the issue of no room temperature water wasn’t a problem. I just use cold water and a bit of hot water to get room temp. Two things that do bother me are 1. The useless light in the center of the machine, which does nothing for seeing the water level when filling or helping to find where the water and ice come out of the machine, and 2. it’s very difficult to see where the water comes out of the dispenser, resulting in plenty of missed attempts!

I only bought this because it has an ice function. The water tasted fine as usual, until I turned on the ice functionality. The water tastes vile when the ice is running. I even turned the ice function off for a few days to see if anything would change, but nothing changed. Just adds a really micro plasticy flavor to the water which is really off putting during and after. My TDS meter showed nothing was wrong, but trust me when I say it tasted awful. For a $1000, I don't think I really have to explain why I wouldn't keep it if it couldn't do water part well. I have other minor grievances like the touch capacitive buttons instead of actual physical buttons. In the end, I returned it, bought a cheap Avalon, used ice trays, and called it a day.

No room temperature water, it's either very hot, very cold or ice. No idea why Brio would release a dispenser without the ability to provide room temperature water. Would have given this a 5-star since the other temps and ice creation are very good. -3 stars for not having normal room temp water.
