Measure your door height to ensure right size order. Cats are in training to push flap so I still am taping the flap up till the dumbest one gets the point. I use this in my sunroom where my cat enclosure is so I ran some 3/4 inch wide foam insulation tape on both sides of the insert to keep out the winter cold. Door came with black rubber insulation strip for use on the back edge of the open regular door but it doesn’t adhere very well while temps are still warm so will probably not adhere at all when it really gets cold. ... show more

The door was relatively easy to install. The flap helps with energy efficiency and weather proofing, but it is not air tight. We got the small size and my 6 pound cat has no problem going in and out on her own. We use the cover at night and (so far) have had no problem with other "critters" coming in and out. Easy to install although some modification can produce better results. Be sure to check the height specs of this product against the height of your sliding glass door (and your pet of course). This is the second one we purchased, the first one was purposefully disassembled and repurposed to create a cat door in a window after we had moved from a house with a sliding glass door to one without (we are back in a house with a sliding glass door now, hence the second purchase.) Now, regarding modification… if you are handy you can remove the female locking mechanism from your sliding glass door and install it onto this pet door so that you can still use the normal lock to secure your door (this requires some cutting as well as additional fasteners/screws to structurally secure the pet door in place. Alternatively, you can install this door on the stationary side of your sliding glass door (opposite the side that opens), also requiring some additional fastening/screws/brackets. If you are not handy, just install it per the included instructions. ... show more

I bought this for my grandma who has a little Shih Tzu dog that needed to be able to let itself outside. This was super easy to install in her slider door. The only thing that you need to be aware of is that you will no longer be able to effectively lock your slider door. I recommend getting a quality bar that you can install in the slider door itself so that you can still have a secured entry. ... show more

My husband and I recently set up a "catio" of sorts for our 3 cats. It's nothing fancy, just a few 48" tall pet playpens attached together. Of course, in planning the setup we were thinking of the most practical way to create an entrance to the enclosure. We thought about using a window tunnel, or installing a pet door through the screen door. Then I stumbled across this panel in my search, and immediately new THIS was the answer! I read a bunch of reviews beforehand, many complaining that it's not truly weatherproof. Luckily for my door situation, that wouldn't matter. The plan was to install this next to the sliding screen door, so it's always going to be an exterior attachment. As you can see from the photos, our interior door is one that pulls open. Installing this was ridiculously easy. Took me less than two minutes. But that's only because I didn't need to worry about adding additional weatherproofing (which this pet door comes with). The only thing I did was add the adhesive foam strip between the panel and screen door as there was a gap large enough for bugs to crawl through. But overall if you are going to use this next to a screen door like I did, it is incredibly easy to do. I didn't even read the instructions lol My only complaint, and it's minor, is that the actual pet flap was discolored upon arrival. It doesn't affect its use, just isn't very attractive. But it's not worth setting up an exchange for. It also traps a lot of cat fur which I'm having to clean often. But that's just because one of my cats has insanely long fur and it gets everywhere. I've also attached a photo of my cat using the door. The cats have no idea how to use the flap yet, so I decided to just prop it open with a box just so they'd first get used to going in and out. All three cats use it without a problem, and they are 9, 10, and 12 lbs. I forgot to mention, that the panel I chose was the small size. I also wish there was a screened option of this panel, rather than just glass. The glass is great if you are using this to shield your home directly from the outside, but a screened option would have been fine for my setup, and possibly cheaper. Otherwise I'm very happy with my purchase and it turned out to be the perfect solution. ... show more
