A lot of products throw around the terms "pro" and "commercial grade", but these LED lights really seem built to last. Right out of the box, you can feel their weight, all covered by a rubberized surface that will withstand the elements. The packaging is no fuss - a 48-foot strand coil, a box of 15 individually-wrapped and -boxed LED bulbs, and a simple instruction sheet. To be honest, they are pretty much plug in and go, but there are some things worth considering: 1) The strand is 48-feet long with 15 lights. This means there is a 3-foot spacing between each bulb, as well as 3 feet at the start and end of the strand. It's worthwhile considering, since if you connect multiple strands (which you can do since the end has a female receptacle), you will have a 6-foot gap. If you're a detail-oriented planner, you'd want to take that into consideration. 2) The strand has a 2-prong plug (i.e., no ground wire). This means that it is adaptable to most extension cords, but you will want to take into account other items you may want to connect, like dimmers and remotes. 3) The LEDs are made of "durable glass", and I'd believe it. The glass even feels a bit soft to withstand bumps and knocks, but is crystal clear. Since these are vintage-style LEDs, the yellow LED "filaments" are quite visible during the daytime, but still look attractive. 4) It is recommended that the strand be hung by 16-gauge wire or cable, or mounted with hooks. Given the weight, don't skimp on cheap mounting options, as you will want to do this the right way. I mounted the cord above my pergola with wrap-around cable clips and stainless screws (really taking the time to protect the cord), allowing the bulbs to hang between the slats. 5) Most importantly, it should be noted that these lights are very bright. Mind you, as I just mentioned, I mounted mine on a pergola, which picks up the lighting much more than, say, an open-air application. However, as standard, they cast a lot of light. Since they are dimmable, I highly recommend an outdoor dimmer. I purchased a outdoor dimmer, and that was the best decision. I've included two photos at the maximum (100%) and minimum (<25%) settings. The minimum setting is what I use nearly all the time as it's a nice glow (but still bright). If I have dinner parties, I use brighter settings, but even 50% is far too bright for most applications. Without a dimmer, I don't know if I could use these lights. 6) I also purchased a Z-Wave outdoor module , a weatherproof receptacle cover and extension cord connector covers to properly weatherproof the set-up. We've had a couple of torrential downpours and windstorms, and the lights have withstood them all without fail. I expect to have years of use from these lights, so would definitely recommend them and buy again. ... show more

Finally a set of string lights that live up to expectations. Heavy duty wire and solid sockets with standard screw in base light bulbs. With a dimmer (purchased separately) these lights provide a full range of dependable enjoyment. You can really shake-up your lighting options. This is the third brand of lights I have been through in a short period of time. And finally found a set that works (have had them up for a couple of months now.) The "Banford" brand "dimmer" (Get the REMOTE CONTROL) works great on these. The Banford brand lights not so much. Run a cable and zip-tie the lights to it. This is a heavy duty commercial grade setup. Most all of the string light options are "Made in China" and live up or down to that. If these lights were labeled "Made in USA" you would think finally, it's about time someone made a quality set of string lights. But don't cheap out and be sure to get a "dimmer" (REMOTE CONTROL). That is where the many levels of magic lives. Good lights. You won't find better. Buy them and be done with it. Your search is over. Finally. ... show more

I rarely write product reviews, and when I do, it's usually because I am really disappointed with something I bought. and probably pissed off about it... This time, however, my review is very positive! I've had these lights for maybe a month or so... And I am super-happy with them! That is a rare thing I am able to say. They are the bomb! Really high-quality and heavy-duty like you almost never see these days. Especially considering the price of these lights on Amazon. This is Is a high-quality, well-made product! Very unusual but I'm glad I bought these lights. Somebody else wrote a review and seemed disappointed that the bulb spacing was about three feet between lights... This is not an issue at all. These bulbs have adjustable brightness (with the right dimmer switch or smart plug), and (at 100% brightness level) they are VERY bright!! Heavy-duty construction and really well-made. As others have said, these lights are GREAT. I ran two 48' strings of them for my patio, in a zig-zag pattern. I also installed this iOS controlled dimmer switch ( https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XK2BL57/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) which works perfectly w/o some of the problems discussed in running LEDs from a dimmer. I used stainless eye bolts, then strung coated SS wire and tensioned it with a SS turnbuckle. I then zip-tied the lights along the wire. This way they hang snugly, and are supported the whole length of the run. I'm very pleased with these lights. On full bright you could read a book out on the patio at midnight with no moon light! So beware if you don't intend to use a dimmer. They are bright! Using the dimmer, they adjust from a very very low ambient light all the way to "full blast." Low settings are great for evening conversations with a glass of wine. Full bright is very useful for "doing things" out there or when I let the dogs out in the evening - they pretty much light up the whole back yard. These are very attractive (I got the white ones) and do exactly what I wanted them to do. Very pleased with the quality and functionality. In the photos below I show "very dimmed" for low ambient light, and all the way bright (which by the way is brighter than the photo really is able to show). ... show more
