We installed the Govee permanent outdoor house lights during late fall. Overall, we are extremely happy with them. We purchased the 200 ft set and it ended up being the perfect length to go completely around our home, with only a small amount needing to be trimmed off. Something we never did with our string light sets. Installation was fairly straightforward. We used 3D printed mounts along with tap drill screws to secure everything tightly, which gave us a lot of confidence that the lights will stay in place long-term. We used the 3M adhesive as well. That said, I do feel like mounting hardware like this should be included considering the price point of the system. The lights themselves are excellent. They are fully customizable and incredibly vibrant, allowing us to change colors and patterns for any holiday or season. This was the main reason we bought them—I decorate frequently throughout the year, and now my husband no longer has to climb on the roof multiple times a year to switch out decorations. The app does take a little getting used to. It’s not the most user-friendly at first, but once you learn how it works, it functions well and gives you a lot of control over the lighting effects. Overall, we absolutely love these lights. They are bright, customizable, and convenient, and they’ve completely simplified our seasonal decorating.

This light set is absolutely outstanding . If you want to or are as OCD as I am & go out of your way to hide (fish)the extension wires & splices , your install will be well worth it . A bigger plus , installing wire molding between the lights to hide the wires not only looks professional but also helps to keep the HOA police off your A$$ . Part of the fun of controlling these lights is experimenting with the app & setting up your own programs . The App itself is easy to use & there are a few YouTube videos online to aid you setting up programs . After playing with different lighting effects for XMas & shutting them down 14 days after the holiday (HOA) rules , I fired them up for a couple of days around St Patrick's Day & they are still as great as the day/days it took me to install them . The colors are crisp , clean & as bright as you might dare to make them . As previously mentioned I went way overboard installing them by fishing the wires through soffits , walls & siding . The wire mold install in the soffits & front porch ceiling was easy but time consuming & I did use screws to attach the molding instead of the adhesive . Our soffits are perforated vinyl . A note & lesson to the future installing public is to basically set every light up on the ground & attach extension cables where basically needed . Making sure the system as laid out works before it's installed . On the 150' & 200' boxes don't be afraid to order after market wire because my project worked just fine with multiple jumpers . Also they claimed not to exceed I believe 12' jumpers & longer ones worked . If you can set the system up without cutting & splicing you'll have done a better job then I did . Also if you need to work on a metal roof like I needed to , use a safety line . The bottom line is this product is freaking amazing & you don't need to enjoy it from a hospital bed .

I buy many things based on the reviews and I hope this helps when deciding to spend this kind of money. First, I needed the 150 length @ $600. I followed one reviewer who said she waited til Prime Day and got them much cheaper. Since I was in no hurry and read her review last winter, I put a price alert on them and sure enough, Prime Day came around and they dropped to $389. So if you can wait, then wait. Ok. The lights. On the installation end, again reviews, do not trust the 3M adhesive. 3M is a great company, but Mother Nature wins out on this one. The lights themselves come with clips you screw in on both sides of the light and, honestly, looks bad. Plus the Phillips screw slots are too small to handle most screw drivers. They sell after market brackets that fit over the light and screw into place. So the way I did it, measure your distance, or chalk line, use the adhesive to temporarily stick into place, then follow up with the brackets. Now the bad news about these brackets. The screw slot is acceptable, but man them screws are small. When you’re 66 and have arthritis, you spend a lot of time picking up dropped screws. Also, I have the vented soffit with the recess every so often. As much as you don’t want it to happen, some of your lights will end up directly over one of the recesses and you’ll need longer screws. But final product looks well worth it. I bought the pro version because I knew I was going to have to cut a couple of strands and you can do this with pro. Splitter. It does not come with any splitters so if you are going to need one you have to buy it separately. And here’s something I found out about splitters. I wanted to turn on just a few perimeter lights on white for accent lighting and the procedure is pretty straightforward. But once I wanted to light one of the lights past the splitter it also lit a light before the splitter. Not a huge deal but something to keep in mind. The instructions for setup are pretty standard as far as WiFi, password etc goes, but the actual operation of these things is so vast, I had to watch a YouTube video several times and still have a ton to learn. They do so many things. An example is you can join the community where everyone shows off their lights and patterns. If you see one you really like, you send it on over and now your lights do the same. How cool is that? The video on YouTube is demonstrated by Tech with Brett and is 27:44 long. Great tutorial, a must watch. Several times. These lights are top of line, state or the art and really beautify your home. I give them an A+

I did the research before buying this. I was on the fence for a along time, due to the price. After I had them up they are pretty cool and I am happy with the purchase. I would purchase again. You can view some presets on videos that others are using on the app and apply/save what you like. I love that I no longer have to put up Christmas lights every year. I would constantly run into bad bulbs on traditional Xmas lights and to find the specific bulb is a nightmare. As far as installation, its straight forward and easy. luckily I only had to splice 1 male end and 1 female end. The directions said to use a tool, but I used what I had on hand (exacto knife and wire stripper) to strip the jacket expose the wires. So after the splice, (and moving one section towards the center of the run) I was worried about the lights being out of sync. Govee has some pretty good tech because it worked flawlessly without having to do anything. After splicing and making adjustments on length I purchased some (Gardner Bender 1/2" NM) staples to sporadically secure the wires a little better to my soffit. The brightness and color range are great. I'm the first in my neighborhood to install lights like these so my home stands out. I have it set to turn on by itself at night with a warm soft white (like security lights) and turn off in the morning. When it turns back on by itself it will return to the last chosen theme. Cool Tip: If you like different themes and want them to change often you can set that. For example: I had 6 different Christmas themes that I liked, but didnt want to manually change them out so I used the "Auto Play" function to make them change every five minutes. I loved this during Christmas because it wasn't the same thing over and over. Its like a little light show. Prior to purchase, the installation had me questioning whether I was able to do this without to much difficulty. Well TBH it took me less time to put these up than my traditional Xmas lights. Overall, everything about this kit is impressive. Cool product Govee!

These lights look fantastic once installed. The brightness and color control are impressive, and the RGBIC effects allow for smooth transitions and distinct segment control along the 100-foot run. They work well for both everyday accent lighting and holiday displays, and the scene modes make it easy to change the look without constant adjustment. Once mounted, they give a clean, permanent appearance rather than a temporary string-light feel. Installation, however, is not simple. Depending on your home and comfort level with mounting and routing wiring, this may be a project that requires professional help. I completed the install myself, but it took planning and careful layout to make it look right. I’m also not a fan of the included adhesive mounts. Even though I followed the surface prep instructions carefully, about a third of them began failing over time. It may have been a surface prep issue, but I ultimately had to go back and purchase screw-on clips to secure the lights properly. Once I did that, the system felt much more permanent and secure. The reason this isn’t a 5-star rating is the installation complexity and the adhesive reliability. The lighting performance itself is excellent, but buyers should plan on possibly upgrading the mounting method for long-term durability.

I absolutely love my Govee Permanent Outdoor Lights Pro! I had the 200ft set professionally installed (there is no way I could have installed these myself), and my electrician friend did an amazing job. Ever since they went up, I’ve received so many compliments from neighbors. These lights really elevate the look of the house — bright, clean, and customizable with tons of fun settings. I bought them during Black Friday when they were 50% off, and honestly, that made the purchase even sweeter. Definitely wait for a sale if you can — they’re worth it at full price, but the discount made it an easy yes. The RGBIC lighting effects are gorgeous, the app is simple to use, and the 75 scene modes give you endless options for holidays, everyday lighting, and accent colors. They give the house such a polished, modern look both during the day and at night. I also purchased the Amazon warranty just in case the lights don’t hold up long-term, but so far everything has been perfect. I’m extremely happy with this purchase and would recommend these lights to anyone wanting a clean, permanent solution for outdoor lighting. They look fantastic, and I couldn’t be happier!

I order the lights on Sept 3,2025 and they arrived the next day. Everything that was supposed to be in the box was in the box. No missing parts. I started putting the lights up that day and it was simple. I made a cut to extend the lights to my roof top. The bottom splice was easy as I was on the ground. The top splice was a little tricky as it had to be done on an extended ladder. I ran the lights along the roof soffit and stopped for the night. I turned on the lights and everything worked fine. Setting up the app on an iPhone was a little tricky but not overwhelming. The next day I continued with the lights and made a top splice again on a ladder, to bring the lights back to the lower level, where I made the second splice. I finished running the lights to the end. I plugged in the power supply and no lights. I checked the control box thinking I forgot to turn on the lights and found it to be very hot to the touch. I unplugged the power supply. I checked my spices again and found some of the wires had twisted together. I corrected the splices and plugged the power in. The lights did not work but the control box was no longer getting hot. I called the support number to Govee and spoke with a representative. She gave me information to email Govee support and explain my situation. I did that and inquired if the was anywhere I could buy a new control box. I was told that at this time the parts are only available through Govee support. They told me they would send me a new control box and power supply. After five days Govee asked me to write a review. I explained that I had not received the parts yet. I received another email stating there was a mixup and my parts were not sent out but they would resend them. This was on Sept. 16th. I received the parts today Sept. 23rd and hooked up the power supply and control box and all is well. All lights are working and I figured out the app to make the lights do what I want them to do. I gave Govee a 5 star review which I think is well deserved. They stood behind their product and made it right for me at no cost to myself I should add. Thank you to everyone at the support team.
