Here are 7 questions I had - (Q1) Will this actually work - i.e., will it raise the temperature of the pool by 10+ degree? (A1) Yes. :-) 10-15 degrees on most days. It is a gamechanger. (Q2) I have an oddly sized pool. Does that make it challenging? (A2) No - just get a decent size and you can cut it. If you are looking for perfect optimization, you can try and cut it to the pool's shape. My sense is that aiming to cover 80%+ of your pool will do the job. (Q3) Is it easy to cut? (A3) Yes - like cutting chart paper. (Q4) Will it be too heavy to fold / will I need to buy a reel? (A4) You might need to cut it into smaller pieces. While I'm sure a reel will help, we're doing just fine without a reel. We just spend an extra 5 mins on either side to take it off the pool and then put it back. (Q5) Is it better than alternatives like sun rings? (A5) It is a no contest. This is a gamechanger... and cheaper too. (Q6) Will it prevent the pool to be cleaned? (A6) Pool robots will work just fine under it. Your pool cleaner service may require you to take it out. (Q7) Is it worth the price? / will it last? (A7) Reviews I read seem to point to this lasting 2-3 years. I can't speak to that as we only bought it a month ago. My sense is that the cost savings from (a) not/minimally running a gas heater and (b) not losing water due to evaporation will make this net positive within 3-4 months. Hope it helps!

I don't know if it's this particular model, or because it's a clear blanket (our first time using a clear one), but this is very effective at heating up our pool - more so than any others we have tried. We are in south Florida, and it's my understanding that at least in this part of the country the strong daytime sun combined with the clear material is the optimal combination. Supposedly these blankets lose heat more at night, but our nights here are quite toasty so that hasn't been an issue and is more than offset by the daytime gain. We haven't had this a year yet and I suspect it will start to disintegrate right around then. I don't believe there's a solar blanket out there that won't deteriorate quickly. Don't pay attention to any manufacturer "guarantee" or "warranty" because those only apply to the seams. Typically the bubbles (not covered) will start to fall apart long before the seams wear out.

I have an above ground pool and live in utah. It’s been on since May and the pool is currently 94 degrees in august. A little warm for summer but it will be great for fall temps. It also helps to keep bugs and stuff out of the pool. We just pull it off when we use the pool then drag it back on when we are not using the pool. I am going to get something that attaches to the sides of the pool to roll it for next season.

I was skeptical that this would work to heat our pool since it basically just looks like a huge piece of bubble wrap. I was pleasantly surprised with how well it works. Our pool is now over 90 degrees (outside temp is in the low 90’s). When we left it off overnight, the the pool temp cooled off considerably. Works very well to prevent water loss. We’ve only had to add water to the pool a few times over the summer (mainly from lots of kids swimming and splashing water out). Would absolutely recommend.

I have only had my clear blue wave 14mm cover for this pool season so far, so i cannot attest to its durability just yet. We have an 18ft above ground pool, and our pool has never been warmer! Just like bath water. Dare i say, it warmed it too much at one point? I have had my pool for 3 years now, and i never had to use much algicide because my water was always freezing, and the chlorine took care of that. Now that our pool is super warm i have to add algicide with my weekly shock treatments. At 1st i did not and even though i would shock my pool turned green. No big deal, easy fix, and totally worth the warm water. I just thought i would write that to let someone else know, because i did not. Worth it, even if i have to buy a new one every year.. i would.

We ordered this cover 15 months ago in order to extend our pool season in Florida. Without the cover the water temperature would rarely go above 83-84 regardless of outside temperature. With the cover, temperature has gone up to as high as 90 (we keep it off for a few days thereafter as don’t want it any warmer). Normally our pool season is May to September and with the cover it’s now March to late October (fair weather swimmers and don’t get in if temp is 80 or less). We started noting that we had plastic fits in our skimmer and it appeared that the cover was starting to break down. I contacted the warranty department via the warranty pdf on Amazon and sent a few pics. Within 3 days had a response and a prorated amount to pay…$18 and they shipped out replacement and it arrived 3 days later! I have rarely had such stellar and effortless customer experience. Kudos for this company standing behind their product!

Obviously this is impacted by how much sun your pool gets - this heated our pool way more than I ever expected. We live in Southern California and don’t have a heater for our pool. This warmed our pool up to over 90 degrees when we left it on for a week in the middle of the summer. It’s a great and cheap alternative to a pool heater!

this product is as advertised. it increased my pool water from about 72 degrees to almost 90 degrees. We do need 2 people to cover the pool so some type of reel is definitely something we are looking into. although the product notes its for inground pools i used it for my above ground pool. it also helps with the water staying clear which will save the filter. I run the filter with the cover on with no issue as well. totally recommend it if your pool water is too cold.
