They wanted me to pay a "pro-rated" warranty fee nearly as much as purchasing a new one! None of that is disclosed on the current product page, which I think needs to be addressed.

As of today, I've owned this blanket for 1 year and 6 months, give or take a couple of days. It largely does what it is supposed to - reduces evaporation and heat loss (which is what keeps your pool warmer). However, it won't last. My cover is carefully reeled up during each swim session and placed in the shade. About a year after owning it, I noticed some of the bubbles started popping and taking on water. Then a few months later, the cover started ripping every time we went to stretch it back over the pool. I actually don't even reel it out lately unless I know we won't be swimming for a couple of days because it's so fragile. I contacted Blue Wave about their five year warranty. Sent them pictures and a copy of my Amazon receipt. Ms. Kim Buchanan generously offered to replace my pool cover for $86.63 plus $36.87 shipping....which is $6 over the price that I originally paid for the cover! Given that I have yet to see anyone given a reasonable offer for replacement, I was a fool for purchasing it anyway (I actually believed the hype of the favorable reviews, but I now realize almost all of these people are reviewing after ownership of a few days or use their pool a few months of the year). Buy at your own risk - Blue Wave will only honor the warranty at a huge hassle and cost to you.

Do not buy!! This thing is paper thin. I've always used 12 mil covers, and this is no where near the thickness of my old cover. No where on the packaging does it even say it's 12 mil. I've had this thing on the pool in 100+ degree weather for the whole month of August. Took it off and the pool is icy cold. Our old cover had to be removed every couple days because the pool would get too hot. Supposed to have a 5 year guarantee, but I doubt it will even last a year. It comes from Leslie Pool, so it's just another of their over priced rip-offs. Run, run, run away from this product!!!!! UPDATE: Only 5 weeks after purchase a 6x6 inch area near the seam is already falling apart. I contacted Blue Wave, but they will only honor the guarantee if I give them another $58. $200+ bucks for a cover that only lasted 5 weeks. Total rip-off.

I purchased this product and initially, was fine. After 1 year, it started to fall apart. They have a 5 year warranty so I contacted the manufacturer. They said after 1 year (I missed the 1 year mark by 1 month...), it was into year 2 which was fine with me and I would pay 35% of the price instead of 100% to get a replacement. BUT!!! what they did was based the 35% off from the SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE which was like $250 (I paid $148). Of course no one actually sells anything at the suggested retail price but that is what they said the warranty was based on. I also had to pay for shipping so after all was said and done, the warranty replacement would have cost me $136 (including shipping) and I could have purchased it brand new again for $148. Wow. thanks for saving me $12 after your product with a 5 year warranty fell apart after 1 year. Be warned if you're looking for a product that will last and if you think the warranty will actually cover you.

I have a custom shaped in-ground Fiberglas pool that is approximately 14X32, so I needed to cut this to fit, using large outdoor shears and a used kitchen knife. It cut readily and fits well now. The cover keeps my pool in the 80's at this time of year, in SoCal, when the nights can get down into the high 40's, so it is essential. Just installed a Pentair Heat Pump and need the top to maintain pool temps overnight. It is falling apart after less than one year! And we store it on the side yard rolled up and out of the sunlight. Very disappointed in a fairly expensive cover that is shedding little bits of blue plastic all over the place!

Very poor durability. After only 17 months, it has badly disintegrated and is literally falling apart. Their warranty is worthless because they prorate the replacement cost so that you are paying nearly full price for a cover that lasts LESS THAN TWO YEARS! Will not buy from this company again and recommend you avoid this product.

I wish I would have looked at all of the negative reviews and not bought this cover. DO NOT BUY this cover! In less than 2 years it disintegrated. Here is the email from them today. The PRORATED amount is more than I paid..?? Hello, Thank you for the pictures. We would be happy to replace the solar cover. Under the warranty agreement you are responsible for the prorated amount of $156.98. You are also responsible for the shipping amount of $42.27. This pricing is good for 60 days. You can call us with either a MasterCard or Visa credit card @ 800-759-0977. Just let the Customer Service Representative know that you are calling to replace a solar cover under warranty.
