There were no “drill holes” or anything really that would constitute “instructions.” My husband finally figured it out reading other people’s comments & reviews for this but once it was “assembled,” it did not work. The ladder bent inwards when stepped on on both sides. We are not “heavy” people either & my husband builds houses. He can put a plastic ladder together. This was a waste of $200. This ladder was meant to be a replacement for the old metal ladder that comes with most pop up pools It is technically adjustable, but you have to use a saw if you want it less than 54 inches. I made a horrible cut, compromising the integrity of the ladder They hardware is incorrect. On the outside that hold the fold up stairs there should be more washers and lock nut. On one side I already lost a nut, and on the other the small washer popped through the plastic . Thankfully I work in a bolt warehouse so I could Identify the problem quickly. I will have to buy the proper hardware . The instructions were minimal, and hard to understand. On top of all of this, the ladder is extremely shaky and unsound. I am keeping the old ladder as a back up, because I do not believe this , nearly 200 dollar ladder, will even last through the season ... show more

ZERO STARS! This ladder was delivered in a box that was completely opened at one end and had rips in the side and bottom. I should have returned it immediately when I saw the box but I was hopeful and we needed the ladder. We started putting it together and noticed there were holes in the parts like it had been put together and taken apart. It came with the instruction book and screws loose in a big plastic zipper bag so no way to know if all of the parts were there beside try to count them out. We laid out all of the parts and all of the parts had holes. Obviously someone already assemble it and took it apart and returned it. We are retuning it and ordered a different Blue Wave ladder that we LOVE. ... show more

    • Extra instructions to ease assembly
Whew! Instruction manual needs help! It is in black and white and very vague. Online I found a color version, but still vague. These notes need to be added to the instructions for clarification. Between step 1 and step 2... "read step 13 to know where most of the bolts, washers, and nuts are used/not needed." In step 3 cont... "DO NOT connect step connectors to top step with (2) #10 x 1/4" screws on left and right side. Only connect the bottom three steps on the left and right sides. Flip up ladder rotates around top step!" In step 9... "To make lifting the ladder easier and safer, move ladder as close as possible to final location before filling legs with sand." I am 210lbs. paperwork says max weight 250. legs are flexing with me on the ladder. Hope I don't gain weight. might dump out the sand in the legs and put metal poles in each one for better strength. time will be the judge. ... show more

    • Very unstable, expensive, and poor quality.
I bought this item because it had certain things I liked. The platform at the top to stand and turn on before entering or exiting the pool and the safety flip up stairs. After receiving the item I was excited to put it together. The instructions are confusing and the pictures are unclear. We finally got it assembled and realized they're were not enough screws in the kit so we had to go purchase some to complete the installation. We instantly realized the instability. The top ladder rail bends easily with less than 80 lbs of weight. We bought this for safety so my grandkids could use it without concern. We were unable to stabilize it as my pool rail is to short even at 48 inches to secure it to. Finally when we got the sand in the legs as directed it drained down through the tiny holes in the bottom of the legs,(which did not come with any kind of plug). So now I have sand in my pool. I can't believe I didn't read the reviews on this product before I bought it, I usually do! This is the biggest waste of money I have ever spent on amazon and that is saying a lot. My suggestion is don't waste your money! Go with something like the simple aluminum ladder I got with my pool or build a deck! ... show more

This ladder is much better than the original pool ladder that came with our pool. I like that it is wider and feels more sturdy. I feel safer getting in and out of the pool. Assembly was easy.
