Built with 2 deck mount flanges for greater stability, full step entry, and double handrails, this ladder is made for pools up to 4.5-foot side walls and a flat bottom. The latching gate securely closes and locks when the pool is not in use to prevent unwanted activity and injuries. The model AF is a double step entry system for easy climbing in and out of your pool. It has a self-closing, self-latching and lockable gate for both safety and to meet code requirements. 1 billion x better than the ladder my 12x24 Intex pool came with. I’m 53 female and it took me 6 hours to put together. It was not easy but I’m not the best craftsman. I used pea gravel and my 30 yo son helped me to hoist it over and into the pool, was not that heavy even with filling with about 30 lbs of pea gravel. You can’t use anything larger than pea gravel or it will get stuck. I didn’t use the door as I don’t have small kids to worry about. I’m getting a mat delivered today that lays under the steps inside the pool, just to keep the vinyl safe. The steps do give a little when you stand on them and the railings do wiggle a bit when you are pulling yourself out of the pool. But overall, this is what I needed to help keep my elderly parents safe when using the pool. The ledge is nice too for my little and nephews to sit on. I really love them! WAY BETTER THAN THE LADDER THE POOLS COME WITH!!! ... show more

I purchased this ladder because I have knee problems . First of all you can't take it out of your pool once you fill with gravel(which is the only way to stop part of the movement) so as far as covering your pool in between uses good luck with that. Even with the gravel we had to tie strap it to the pool to ensure it doesn't move. Then comes the rails.Pure junk and flimsy so there's another hazard getting in your pool.It's to tall with nothing to stabilize it so therefore it moves back and forth with any weight. When I contacted the seller they said they hadn't had this issue which is a lie if you look at other reviews. Still working on a way to fix this issue. This is overpriced and unsafe and I wouldn't waste your time or money! ... show more

Got this to go with our new above ground pool as I don’t like climbing ladders and my father is handicapped and needed stairs to enter the pool and my son is autistic so I needed something that could lock. While it does the job, the steps are very narrow and my father won’t be able to climb them but for everyone else they are ok. It does lock most of the time, however the arms are very flimsy and my son can basically pull on the side and unlock the gate so we have had to jimmy-rig something that he can’t undo. For $$$ I thought it would be way better quality and last a lot longer. We are looking at putting in a deck next summer as this probably won’t last longer than a year. ... show more

Well 25 years have gone by and I find myself at 66 years old. I don’t feel comfortable climbing up and down on our, what now seems rickety, old ladder. Buying these steps was the best thing for the whole family to use. They are very stable and sturdy. I can now get in and out in no time. Such a game changer.... look at the difference between these steps and the ridiculous ladder that came with the pool. These steps are so much safer and more comfortable to use. The best part is they lock closed so children cannot access the pool. With the old ladder I had to lift the entire think in and out of the pool every time I wanted to use the pool to keep toddlers safe! Great product, worth every penny! ... show more

Things to know, It is much better than a ladder. The stairs are steep but much more stable than the ladder. If you are expecting them to be like stairs in your house you may be disappointed. We filled it with small gravel to keep if from floating. I recommend aquarium gravel, it needs to be that small.
